We bought a new under cabinet exhaust that needed to be installed. It was larger than what we had. Keith and Paul removed the old exhaust; rewired the new unit as it was hard-wired so they used the cord from the old unit; raised the cabinet up about 6 inches; and put in a new backing to accommodate everything. It looks fantastic and they took a lot of time and effort to make sure everything was done properly. I would definitely recommend and use this company again.
Description of Work: Cabinet above stove had to be raised to install new exhaust system.
My remodel process beginning to end when I first met Mr. Bryson , Carpenter’s Hand. He wanted an ideal of what they could design strictly on budget or by getting to know my personality to match my kitchen. Mr. Bryson asked me, “‘what I wanted my Dream kitchen to looks like, (Colors/ countertops/ design) ? Overall, I came to the realization that I was going to cut back a little bit on my budget! Lol,.. The Carpenter’s Hand gave me so much more than I could afford using my budget wisely. I loved everything most importantly the quality of their work and attention to detail surpassed my expectations! I’d like to say, I did my homework on the price without compromising Quality!!! I made the right choice, in trusting them with my Remodel! Thank You, The Carpenter’s Hand, for my beautiful Kitchen... Uninstalled, rebuilt, reinforced, and reinstalled my kitchen island cabinet which had broken off its original bracket due to prior owner adding a granite top that was way too large ( up to 17" overhang in places) for the cabinet underneath to support. These carpenters understood the problem and invented a way to fix it when other contractors wouldn't touch it (smaller job; feared damage under the cabinet; couldn't figure out how to approach the problem). Strongly recommended, but did not insist, cutting down the granite slab to prevent the cabinet from breaking loose again at some point in spite of the reinforcements. Located a granite counter maker who picked up the slab and reduced it by about 25% while preserving its asymmetrical shape. Reinstalled the top, all in time for Thanksgiving and at a fair and honest price. Listened to my concerns, made intuitive recommendations, and communicated well throughout the process.
Took much longer to complete project that we anticipated. However, completed job is incredible. Tile work and cabinetry are beautiful.

Jeff's people did a terrific job. In slightly over two weeks they gave me a beautiful new granite counter tops, replaced my old vinyl floor with beautiful ceramic tile floor added a gorgeous tile backsplash and replaced an outdated light fixture over my sink all for just over 10,000 including repairing some major plumbing flaws in my 50 + year old house. I couldn't be more pleased with there work.

I do not recommend hiring Carpenter’s Hand or Mr. Bryson for any home renovations. This was our first major remodel. We explained to the owner, Mr. Bryson, during our first encounter that we wanted a team focused on our property so that we could finish the bathroom quickly and efficiently, since the project would put our shower out of commission and require our 5-person family to share the remaining shower for the duration. He explained that the project was "nothing special" and should take 3 weeks at most. This half-bathroom remodel (tub to shower conversion) took 4 months to complete, because Mr. Bryson did not oversee the project as discussed, and his crew was at the house for 3-4 hours at most during the first two weeks. After we sent him multiple pictures/texts and emails, he came to our house for the second time and decided that the shower had so many flaws it would need to be completely re-done. After the third week (when the tile setter was staying late to catch up) Mr. Bryson basically stopped communicating with us. He wanted a punch list, which I sent to him, and he said someone would be there the next day to complete, and he would follow up to ensure the items were completed correctly. However, no one came until he sent us a Final Demand for Pay when the punch list items had not even been addressed. **We followed up with a demand for service, which is when he finally showed up to complete the final caulking. The final product after all is said and done was a disappointment at best (see photos - one shows the shower floor does not slope toward the drain, so we have to rake the water in after every shower). He then stated that he would waive our final $350 payment if we agreed not to leave a negative review on his Angie's List profile. I sent the final $350 and explained that the primary reason for my leaving a review was to shield other home owners from having the same terrible experience with Mr. Bryson and Carpenters Hand.

Unfortunately I know these reviews will come no matter how hard I try to please all of my customers. But, I am happy to at least have the opportunity to address this. I am hoping if you read this you will take the time to read my many other reviews for people that I have actually done work for. As for this customer I did have to redo the shower as it was not done to my satisfaction( solely at my expense) The customer thought it was great that I was willing. As for the quality of work she asked me to do and to receive an "f" is rather funny as she asked me to do another bathroom upon completion that I rejected to do. She was not available to answer basic questions during this process even the simple things like picking a color for shower. She would tell me that I am the expert and that I should know. This was the first delay. Then yes, I did have to do the shower over because I did not think my tile installer was doing to my level of quality. However, we completed this job still in 5 weeks not 4 months. The only thing not completed was additional work outside of shower area that I did as a courtesy. She refused to pay until I would caulk her baseboards and caulk some other parts of her vinyl floor which we installed for her to simply be nice. This was a bad experience for me and I will also confirm that I did also agree to wave the final balance of $350.00 after it took her 2 months to pay the previous balance of $2,500. The reason for my delay in getting to the caulking was because I was having heart issues and I did convey this to them. I also explained that this was not even part of my contracted work. I feel like they were trying to get out of paying there bill and finally had to send a demand letter. I hope anyone reading this will take the time to read my other reviews. Thank you for taking the time and if I can be of service please call. 210-336-1412

Excellent.! The owner Jeff was easy to work with. Mario and Paul performed the job and were professional, polite and did a fantastic job.
Description of Work: Install backsplash, install cabinet hardware, hang mirrors.
Master bath remodel turned out well! Jeff and his guys are easy to work with and very responsive. Jeff is also very good at offering alternatives when things don't go quite as planned (sourcing fixtures, working around secrets hidden in walls, etc) and suggestions when you need some guidance in making a decision. Also, he and his guys are good with communication via text/phone. No one had to be home for much of the process and I had no reservations about leaving the key for whomever was scheduled to work. The work space was tidied up at the end of every day so I didn't have step over 'construction mess' everywhere. I plan to use them again for the kitchen remodel.
Jeff and his crew did an excellent job in replacing the cabinets with high quality cabinets that were manufactured in his shop. HIS CABINET MAN, KEITH DID A FANTASTIC JOB ON THE CABINETS...EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATION. ALSO HIS SHEET ROCK MAN, CHASE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB ON REPAIRS AND PAINTING THE HOLES IN THE WALLS.JEFF PROVIDED EXCELLENT GUIDANCE IN WORKING WITH OUR INSURANCE CARRIER. I WOULD HIRE "THE CARPENTER'S HAND" AGAIN...GOOD JOB WELL DONE. .

I can't thank Jeff Bryson and his amazing crew enough for all their help. A previous contractor delivered poorly made cabinets and wouldn't replace them. Searched Angie's List and called " The Carpenters Hand" and Jeff Bryson came out that day, got us a quote and within 2 weeks we finally had our new kitchen and I love it!! 4 months later Jeff helped us with the law suit against the previous contractor that we won. We will be calling The Carpenters Hand again this year for our bathroom. Will happily give a great reference .
Description of Work: Kitchen cabinets and counter tops replaced.
Fantastic service, and even better quality. When Jeff (owner) came over to give me an estimate, we knew in the first 10 minutes that he wouldn't be getting the job (or so we thought) because he was booked on other projects and couldn't start for a few months. Jeff stayed and let me walk him through what I wanted to do anyways, and told me what to look out for with contractors as this was my first home purchase. I had set up appointments with other contractors, some of them from very large companies, and none of them impressed me the way Jeff did. Long story short, I decided to wait the 3 months, and hire Jeff anyway. You can tell right away if someone will be honest and true to his word, and that is what I got from Jeff. We did a full gut and remodel of the kitchen, new custom cabinets, new granite counter tops, new lighting, backsplash. Master Bathroom: removed a hall closet to expand the shower and add a bench, new frameless glass door, tile work floor to ceiling enclosed and expanded the master bath, new toilet, custom vanity and matching granite. Guest Bathroom: new tile above tub, new plumbing and fixtures, custom vanity, matching granite. We also had new laminate flooring installed throughout the house, and tile work in Kitchen, entry ways, and bathrooms. Overall, I could not be happier with the service I received. Between Jeff and his foreman, I always had access to discuss concerns or changes along the way. Any minor "flaw" was addressed immediately, and the finished product is phenomenal. Would I hire The Carpenters Hand again? Absolutely, I had him over this week to give me another estimate on a separate project. The Carpenters Hand is a fantastic company, run by an honest, straight talking man who really takes pride in his work. If you have any doubts on who to work with, give Jeff at The Carpenters Hand a call, and I promise, you will not be disappointed!

WOW! Thank you very much. appreciate very much the kind words
We've remodeled several houses over the years, and we usually did the majority of the work ourselves. This time we decided to go for the dream kitchen and hire a top-notch pro to do the work. With Carpenter's Hand that's exactly what we've gotten. Owner Jeff Bryson is personable and client-centered, and his crew is just the best--considerate, neat, skilled, and efficient. He has an in-house cabinet shop that can customize just about anything, and his cabinet guys are true creative professionals. There have been more than a few challenges to achieving what we dreamed of, and the Carpenter's Hand crew have done wonders. We have a little more to go, but I am confident that this remodel will be everything we hoped for and more.

Jeff's and his crew were very professional completed my job in a timely manner and did an excellent job. I would recommend them to anyone needing a home renovation.
Description of Work: Had another contractor start a renovation in my condo. They did a very poor job on my kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Hired the Carpenter's hand to fix my kitchen cabinets and furnish cabinet doors. They also furnished cabinets in my laundry room, furnish new cabinets and counter tops in my bathrooms and completed my walk in shower.
We contacted Jeff Bryson in February 2018, received his estimate, signed a contract, made a down payment and began work 3 months later, May 21. The work was extensive, we upgraded, many line items and Jeff was always open to our vision, finding a way to make things work to satisfy us as his customers. His hierarchy is somewhat obscure as the contract manager, Keith, was not always on sight. The 2 consistent workers Jeff and Johnny were here most often and are hardworking, conscientious and punctual (when the schedule changed they always called to inform us when they would arrive). They worked continuously throughout the day and usually put in a full 8-hour day. They were open and responsive to our questions, concerns, as well as changes during the process. There were times when we had concerns, and wanted to change something which caused rework, but they were respectful and fulfilled our wishes (with only a mild amount of frustration on our part). The project took 3 months to complete (and they still have a few items I am waiting for them to be completed). This project had been delayed by us over the years due to bad experiences with several other contractors. We are pleased to review Jeff Bryson and certainly recommend his work to others. He has revived credibility and trust with his company. With any project this size, there were may times we experienced frustration and anxiety. Usually misunderstandings come from ignorance on our part about the process, or supplies, or just differences in the way the work was progressing. Because of past experience, we knew we had to try and convince them regarding our vision. The workers were somewhat reluctant, but Jeff was always open to our questions and peculiarities, without making us feel like we were asking for the impossible. And in the end, they were able to complete each request and change. I have to say Jeff was more than fair in our dealing with the written contract vs. additional work. He gave us many breaks on price as we went on, and in the end, we feel we were treated more than fairly with Jeff’s consideration. We highly recommend “The Carpenter’s Hand” if you have a project in mind. I’m sure you will not be disappointed. A big “Thank You” to the crew that Jeff has working for him. Do yourself a favor and hire this company.
Description of Work: Expand MB Closet, Walk in Shower, Reconfigure Vanity area, Remove Popcorn, Paint, Install Hardwood & Tile Floors
Jeff and his crew did an awesome job. They were very professional, inconvenienced us as little as possible and finished ahead of schedule. I was a novice at kitchen remodels and Jeff did a fantastic job of holding our hands and walking us through. He was very patient as we changed our minds about colors etc. and provided expert tasteful advice concerning every aspect of the job. I can't say enough about how lovely my new kitchen looks. I will definitely call Jeff anytime I need kitchen, bath or similar remodels. I even waited to do this review to see how the job would hold up and it is still beautiful. Jeff is there before, during and after the job to provide advice and, if necessary will come back to correct or repair. This company is as good or better than the big companies like Home Depot and Lowes and at a fraction of the price. Thank you Jeff for going above and beyond and making our kitchen and downstairs bathroom gorgeous.

Carpenter's Hand was a life-saver for us. The first contractor for our kitchen remodeling was incompetent, and was fired before the job was completed. But Jeff and his crew came in and repaired the damage and finished the project, with a beautiful outcome. This included building one-fourth of our wood cabinets, replacing the first contractor's sloppy back splash with perfectly-placed subway tiles, painting, electrical work, and repairing two seams on new quartz counter top. We made a big mistake with the first contractor, but now we are so pleased with the new kitchen that was only made possible by the team from Carpenter's Hand. Thank you!

The drain pipe on the side of my dishwasher had a slow leak and water damaged the existing kitchen island cabinet. I called Jeff to see if he could do the work and he came to my home and said he could, and gave me a fair estimate. All the plumbing, electrical and granite counter-top had to be removed, then the old island cabinet removed and replaced. My builder had not done a clean job on the plumbing or electrical and Jeff's team cleaned it all up and even moved some switches around to more sensible locations. Previously, the garbage disposer and overhead light switches were inconveniently located inside the island. Now, I have an air switch in the granite and the light switch was moved to the side of the island making both switches much more accessible and easy to use. There was some custom cabinet work that needed to be done as well as staining. It all came out excellent. The kitchen island is the focal point between the kitchen and family area and you would not know that it was replaced, although, the work Jeff's team did was superior to my home builder. I am an "attention-to-detail" oriented person, and I can tell you that every detail was addressed by Jeff's team. We are very satisfied with the results.

Did not get anything done waited way too long for this to get done.
Description of Work: He came in beginning of August of 2017 to give me an estament for the remodel of the whole bathroom. I already had it down to the 2 x 4's. Demo wasa mostly done. He told me he was two to three months behind, i didn't have a problem with that. But when it was time to start the job he had to go out of the country, then he had to go help with the tornado's and then the flooding. It was always one excuse after another. He said he would try to fit me in in November, well that didn't happen either. Never called, wrote or texted me. Texting was mostly the way we comunacated but is was always me calling and trying to get information on when he was going to start. Waited till the end of December and still did not hear from him. So again I called and he gave me another excuse and said I tried getting ahold of you, which was not true. He had several different methods to get a hold of me, phone, email, text, or write and he did neither of these until I called again. I just got so tired of his excuses I asked for my monies that I had paid him in advanced. I had to call him and ask him when is he going to mail me the check of the monies I had already paid. This was in December I texted him again In January and he said it is on the way. Well finally today 12th of Jan 2018 I received it. Did not want to write a review on him before I got my monies cause I was afraid I might not get it. Very disappointed and will not use him again or Angie's list as this is the second time I have written a bad review and hired people from your list.

It is a shame that customers are dishonest in this manner and hopefully people will take the time to read responses. I originally met this woman after getting a negative review on my company from her. I had never contacted her and she had never contacted me. She could not remember the name of the company but thought it was mine. I took the time to call her and to drive to her house to ask her to remove the negative review. When she realized she had made a mistake she removed the negative review and asked if I could do her job. At that time I told her I would be happy to help but we were three months out. She finally decided to use my company and gave me a check on Oct. 15th. Three months from that date would be January 15th. I did indeed gather money from friends, family, and customers and went down after the hurricane to Refugio Texas and other not so well known towns to render aide to our fellow Texans. She was extremely rude the first time I met her and should have just said I was busy. However, I like to try to be helpful and I guess in this particular case it has cost me. Please read my reviews for customers I have actually done work for. Thank for reading this

As they did a fantastic job on my bathroom last year, I brought them in on this project. I had a very clear vision on how I wanted my kitchen to look. I had already purchased the backsplash tile, sink, plugs. Just needed the granite counters and the skill to install. The granite install went in great, and countertops are perfect. They brought all my plumbing up to code under my sink, and the plumber explained and pointed out evetything he did and why. I picked out some really difficult backsplash tile, but these guys handled it like a pro and blended it in perfectly. I had requested recessed plugs in the kitchen, even though it made it a bit more difficult for installing the tile, there is no flaw anywhere near any plug.
Description of Work: My kitchen needed an update, now counter tops, backsplash, sink, faucet , plugs and plumbing work.
