Description of Work: Replace roof, nothing went right from the beginning as it took over five months to complete. If you want the full story please send me an e-mail as I'm sure Stephens will paint a story about how they went out of their way to correct things. My house remains incomplete ,and it was only at my wife's request that I settled with them, the stress was too much for her to handle |as the job lasted more than five months to include the holidays. + -1 moreErica was who came out for an estimate. She was very nice and considerate. She gave me exactly what I asked for, which is nice. However they did not show up with the historical permit that is required, and got a $500 fine and tried to get me to pay it! They were putting the black paper down over the old and were not even checking the wood, they also were throwing materials so hard that it was shaking the house. They were putting up such thin plywood that you would fall through it if you walked over it, I told them I wanted the good stuff and they did. I told the owner Edward, that I want it done the right way or don't do it at all, and he just laughed at me.
Description of Work: I just signed them up for a contract to replace my whole roof.

When estimator looked over my roof he told me that their company had repaired several roofs on my street after a hail storm about several years earlier. That storm must have occurred while we were not home because I did not recall having hail. Stephens worked with adjuster to get my roof covered. When I asked the estimator from the company giving second quote, he said he had been an adjuster and HE would not approve this claim; needless to say who got the job. They were prompt with samples even when we called for more, they drooped them off within a day. They wanted to allow for three straight days of good weather since I had to have all new decking (previous home owner put shingles directly over shake), They showed up on the day promised and completed the job in just under two days. Stephens took care of the paper work in needed to recover the depreciated value and they allowed me to defer full payment until I received my final payment from the Insurance Company They were always on time. The Estimator even came out after he had a long day to put temporary cover on my leaks. The roof looks great and I was extremely pleased with their extra efforts.
Description of Work: Complete new roof. Including decking and replacement of damaged skylight. They worked to get me coverage from my insurance company since i was not aware that my area had hail several years earlier.

+ -1 moreSince it is not raining any time soon it may be a long time before you are aware you have leaks . Use another roofer .
Description of Work: I just recently joined Angie's list and was most suprised to see a good rating on Stephens Roofing . I used them to replace my damaged roof in 2006 . It was an awful experience . They had a crew come on the scheduled date . They had blocked my car in the driveway so I asked them to let me out and I would keep the car out of the way . They drove off and did not come back . I called Mr. Torres three days later and asked him where the crew was and he was suprised to learn they had not started the job . He promised me his best crew as soon as they were available . Several weeks later I came home to find workers on my roof . They were from New Orleans and did the roofing . I had not contracted for my patio covered to be roofed but since the crew was not supervised they tore off the roof . It was not until several months later when we finally had rain that I noticed the leaks . My new roof had five leaks . It took many calls and I finally hired another roofer to fix the leaks at an out of pocket cost of over $1.300.00 plus over $400.00 to have a painter to paint the ceiling and walls and replace drywall where there was water damage . My patio cover still leaks . My roof failed inspection and to this day has not passed inspection . I had a meeting with the building inspector and then I had a meeting with Mr. Torres . Mr. Torres got loud and angry when I told him the roof had not passed inspection and called me a liar so I called the building inspector to talk to Mr. Torres . That resulted in the building inspector calling the local police to insure his safety and mine when we all met . Mr. Torres said he would fix the problems but he did not return my calls and his office staff was rude to me . I have made complaints about Stephens Roofing with the Better Business Bureau . I have now given up . I wish to warn anyone considering this company to be aware of the problems that I had with this company . I am sad to say that my new roof still leaks in spots and the shingles were cut and tacked incorrectly . So buyer be careful , you have very little in the way or recourse and since we are in a drought it may be a long time before you know you have leaks . Please use other company and avoid the problems I have had and still have .

+ -1 moreThe work was accomplished in two days and was done in a very professionally manners considering the temperature was 100 plus degrees each day.
Description of Work: Due to having several minor ceiling leak discolorations around a vent and light fixture in a bathroom and the roof being pitted by a hail storm we contacted three roofing contractors for an estimate. All estimates were within several hundred dollars. Since we had changed insurance companies over a year and a half ago we were reluctantly going to have to pay the full estimated cost. Roof damage had occurred due to a hail storm sometime ago. Giovanni Caballes from Stephens Roofing suggested that we contact our old insurance company to determine if they would open a claim for damage. Mr. Caballes met the claims representative at our house while he was inspecting the roof. The claim was accepted and we only had to pay the deductible. Had we not contacted Stephens Roofing we would have had to pay more than $5.800 for a new roof. The work was accomplished in a very professional manner and would highly recommend the Company for your roofing needs.

I felt really confident in their ability to do the work--plus, as they reminded me many times during service, they warranty everything, so we didn't have to worry about a thing! We've had no problems with the leak in our roof since it's been fixed, and we will definitely use this company in the future.

+ -1 moreI liked them. When I asked them to give me a full evaluation, they did not come back. The roofing guy went through my attic and found an area where there was a leak. He pushed something back and stopped the leak at that corner, but the other area was not fixed. I paid him for what he did. He was on time. He was pleasant. He did advise some areas that needed to be fixed. When I called him, he never called back. I was giving him an opportunity to get a job, but he didn't respond.

+ -1 moreThey had favorable ratings on Angies list. They did a good job of understanding exactly what the job required and what it would take to complete it. The representative that came out to give the estimate was good. He climbed on the roof and looked at the problem. He also looked for any other damage on the roof. He didn?t find any other problem. He told me exactly what called for the problem. He told me where the pole stick would be. Stephen was the lead person. He was very knowledgeable and courteous. My whole issue with them was the timing. They couldn?t respond to the job when I needed. I assume that they would have done a good job like the company I hired. I would have no hesitation using their service again. If they were able to work in one or two days I would have gone with them. I had limited experience with them but it was good. Their price was competitive.

+ -1 moreOther than Stephen's office staff jerking me around with scheduling my job, the job and roofers were excellent. I was bumped back one month from my original repair date ostensibly because of the large number of hail damged roofs San Antonio experienced. I realize that my small job doesn't ccompete with a full roof replacement, but the way I was treated by the office staff was just not good.
Description of Work: I hired Stephen's Roofing to repair a section of tile roof. Under the tiles an animal had gnawed a hole in the decking and torn up the undelayment. The resulting roof leak was over an area of soffit and ultimately damaged that too. The job called for fashioning a metal water channel to improve rain run-off, add metal to cover over a damged area and to completely replace the underlayment witha rubberized product that would last much longer than the tar paper originally used.

+ 0 moreAlthough the weather didn't cooperate with us to begin with, we had our new roof on in less than two full days! The crew was prompt, and they did their job professionally.
Description of Work: The Stephens crew (8 gentlemen) arrived about 8:30 am on a Friday, removed the old roofing and tar paper, replaced the tar paper, repaired the roof where the old roof fan had been, and put asphalt shingles on the roof. They installed two ridge vents and cleaned up the gutters, the yard, and even washed the patio, BY HAND, on their knees to make sure there was no debris left when their job was finished. They were courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable in their jobs.
