Stephens Roofing & Remodeling

The roofer arrived on time. We went over the repairs and price. Roofers went right to work. They completed the repairs in a matter of hours. They cleaned up the area around the house prior to making me aware that they were done. I was extremely satisfied with the work that was done. If I ever need roof work done again, I will use Stephens Roofing.

The repair was scheduled on a Saturday and it turned out to be a rainy day. They were suppose to be at my house at 3:00 pm but since it was raining I assumed it would have to be postponed. I called the office at noon and they informed me that "Oh yeah all jobs were cancelled for the day due to rain", yet no one had called the customers to let them know. I asked when will you be able to reschedule the repair? He said that someone would call me on Monday. No one from the office contacted me at all. On Thursday I decided to call them and I was told that their records showed the repair at my home HAD ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED. I explained that no one had shown up that day (nor any other day) and after verifying with the employee who had invoiced the job that No he had not actually done the work the company wanted to send out someone at 5:00 in the afternoon to begin work on the repair. I declined the offer and told them I would call them back if I reconsidered allowing them to even do the repair. I was not planning on hiring them for the job at this point after all the delays. To my shock the company called me 3 days later wanting to know if I wanted to schedule the repair or cancel my request so that I would NOT be charged. I do not know how they could be so confused. This was the biggest waste of time I have ever had from a company. The estimated was given to me in September, here we are 2 months later and they are still confused.

It went terrible! When started they said it would take 7 days, it took a month. Because they didnt work eveyday. They would take off several days. When they left in the day time, they didnt clean up afterwards, they left screws, cut metal, trash... soda cans and water bottles. They would not return calls. I'd definetly not recommend them!

Called and received estimate to repair roof. Repaired ahead of schedule and outstanding job. Will use them again if needed.

In 2012, Converse Animal Shelter, Inc.(CASI) was given an estimate for a carport that would extend over three dog runs in the front of our property. Received grant funding for the project on 18 Jun 2013, contacted Stephens Roofing that we were ready for the construction to begin. We called the company throughout the month of July to check on the status of the job, we were repeatedly told they hadn?t received the materials yet. Called 6 Aug 2013 and we were told that there was one job ahead of us and they would be out to start work no later than Wed, 14 Aug. No one showed at CASI on the 14th. Called and were told it would be Mon 19 Aug. No show again on the 19th of Aug, contacted company again and asked for a supervisor to call me. We were told that work would begin no later than Wed 21 Aug. No show on 21 Aug; called and requested a supervisor call me. We still did not receive a call from anyone at Stephens. Called again on 22 Aug, still haven?t seen or heard back from Stephens. A couple of men came to CASI Sat, 31 Aug to re-measure the structure; the dug holes and poured concrete to secure the support beams. Two men came back in a couple of days and started welding and erecting the supports. Only one man, an elderly gentleman, who did not speak English did all the work, including all the welding. The younger man held the ladder, handed the older man tools and was on his phone the whole time. These are the only two people from Stephens that came to the property. By 17 Sep 2013, the men were still welding the supporting pieces, the only thing that was lacking was the ?roof? part. We received a visit from Officer Alvarez, the code compliance officer for Converse, Texas. He asked about the permit, which Stephens told us they would take care of. I called the company and was told that Richard (the foreman) was bringing us the permit to post that day. No one had come to CASI by 1pm. I left and went by the city offices and spoke with Gilbert Durant, the city Building Official. Richard arrived at city hall to apply for the permit as I was speaking with Mr Durant. The city fined Stephens $200 since they started work without a permit and doubled the permit fee. In addition, they issued a fine to Richard, the foreman. Mr Durant told Richard that they must cease and desist all work until they filed the appropriate paper work required for the permit. All Richard had submitted was the estimate they gave to us, no drawings, no plat, nothing. They also needed some kind of engineering plan to be submitted. The city told me this isn?t the first time for Stephens to have this problem. I went back to CASI and had a heated discussion with Richard; he said I didn?t understand how long construction work took and I said they would be further along if they had more than one guy working. Richard said it would take a month longer because of this. I have not paid them anything at this point. We agreed to an 18? x 28? steel freestanding carport for $7,560.00. I don?t suppose we could hire another firm to finish the work, without a civil suit. I do not believe Stephens Roofing acted in good faith to fulfill our contract in a reasonable period of time.

work done on time, clean up was excellent. First hard rain and we had leaks around 3 sky lights. Also found leak along 1 eave. But all has been fixed and they came next day I called.

THEY NEVER SENT THE PROPOSAL

I contacted Stevens Roofing through Angie's List and set up an appointment for an estimate for a roof replacement. Someone from their office called me the very next day and gave me an appointment. Two days prior to my appointment they called me and confirmed the appointment date and time. I made arrangements to be home that morning so I would be able to meet with them for the estimate. They never showed up or even bothered to call me to apologize. I would not be willing to do business with a company that that is so disrespectful of other people's time. Oh, and to this day they still have not called me.

I called and left messages with them and they've never bothered to call back.

The company was not able to send a representative to give us an estimate for approximately 6 weeks. I elected to go with another company instead of waiting for this company.

Requested an estimate for minor roof repairs and raccoon/squirrel proofing soffits. They were prompt for the appointment on April 16. A thorough inspection was made. They repaired ridge vents, resealed all vents, skylights, replaced some shingles and critter proofed the soffits. We have approx. 3500 sq ft or 35 squares of roofing. A thorough job was done by Sergio and Dennis. They were professional, courteous and respectful of our property. They assured us the roof had a life expectancy of 10+ years, which was comforting to know. We would definitely recommend their services.

They were timely in their response and we even received a letter from them three days later. Their bid was good but we decided to go with a different company.

Technician was very helpful.

They came by at about 1:00 walked on roof and looked in sons room said they could put in flat vents or the same old globe type. He left us a estimate and left.

I called Stephens Roofing for an estimate for storm damage to my metal roof, to replacing screws that pulled out during high winds. It took someone at least a couple of weeks to come out and inspect the needed repairs, then it took a couple more weeks for him to call me with the estimate that was considerably higher than the insurance estimate. I called another company and received immeadiat satifaction.

Their price was good and the quality of the work was excellent. The owner is a wonderful guy and I really felt safe and comfortable with him. I knew that he will take care of the job properly.

Got hear before time and was finished in no time.

Overall we are very happy with our new roof, the reasonable price, and Stephens Roofing and Remodeling. Edward visited with us for just a couple of hours on February 4th, 2013 and answered all of our questions in a professional but fun manner. We signed the contract, and he said he wanted no money until they were finished with the job! He also said they wouldn't be able to get to it for about a month. :( BUT (they had a cancellation) ONE WEEK LATER! His crew arrived February 12, 2013-Tuesday morning, and hit the ground running. Figuratively speaking. ;) (actually they were here one day early, which initially made me think- uh oh, starting off on the wrong foot! Until I realized- hey! Early is a GOOD thing! The sooner they get here, the quicker they're done, right? They demo'd the roof in a loud but timely manner (we expected the noise), and although I had to call them back regarding cleanup, and remind them to turn in final insurance paperwork, so that we could receive our final insurance depreciation check, (they worked pretty smoothly with our insurance company too!) my calls and emails were returned promptly and professionally. And they finished our Galvalum roof (which we love!) in one week! It actually waited to rain till they were through, but then did, which cleaned their footprints off our shiny new roof. (I had asked them to clean it, but they said the rain would take care of it.). Also.... No leaks! Besides the pain in our pocketbook, I'd say this was a very pleasing pain free experience. Unlike some other contractors/workers that have been to our house in the last ten years. ;) Thanks Edward, and ALL the crew for everything. PS. You may want to take my suggestion of hiring women to clean (the screws, nails, cigarette butts, trash, and those tiny black bits of roof from all over our yard) in the future. Men don't do a very good job of that evidently. :( But thanks for having three guys come back out! I supplied the trash bags and............ They did their best. :) And we're happy!

The roofers showed up with a 7 man crew, they started by removing the old singles and next the old tar paper. This all came off the roof and was placed into a large trailer. They then replaced the tar paper and the packages of shingles went up next. They did a excellent job with the clean up as well.

We had Stephen's come out last year and repair our roof. Of course when they did the repair it wasn't raining. This year we noticed that the roof was beginning to leak again. We called them and they came right back out and took care of it. Overall our whole experience has been positive.

Very good! There was one minor problem with sub, that was taken care of to our satisfaction.

They were prompt in meeting us to give us an estimate. Their quote was very detailed, which was good, with the explanation of the work.

Steven came out with the crew and they peeled back about 6 or 7 rows of tile to get to the decking. They replaced the rotted wood and replaced the reflective barrier under the wood. They replaced the felt with new and then applied a rubber sealing barrier over the top that will prevent any future water penetration in the area. Then they replaced the tiles and after they were done, you couldn't tell that the roof had ever been off. No more water leaks either. I have used Stephens several times and they have always done a good job for me.

The whole project went well. The service, clean up, contract, and job went well. They were good from the very beginning to the very end. They hauled the old shingles away. I have nothing bad to say about them. If we needed to do it again, they would get the job.

I had to modify my schedule for the 2nd appointment. I called later that afternoon to go over to the house and they said they were already out there. They were supposed to meet me at the house at 1 and they went out there at 10. No one ever called to let me know they came earlier. We were rushing over to make the 1 pm appointment. We didn’t use them since it wasn’t a good experience with their customer service. For me, it was a waste of time. I think that if a time is schedule and then the time was modified, they should call.
