Sims Fencing

Michael Sims was prompt in responding to my email through the Angie's List messaging tool on December 29, 2015. I did contact two other providers through the messaging tool: South Texas Fence Co, who responded on 1-02-16 and Rodeo Fence Co., who (as of 1-3-15) did not respond. I was able to text him photos of the damage and he was able to give me a quote based on the images. I was able to schedule the repair for the following day. He arrived somewhat past our scheduled appointment time, but was courteous enough to send me a text with an estimated time of his arrival. Upon his arrival, he and his associate got right to work. They removed the broken fence and rebuilt 12 feet of fencing to an existing wooden privacy fence The work took about an hour or so. As a courtesy, Mr. Sims also hammered some loose boards along the existing fence, noting that some of the wood was rotting and that I might keep an eye on it. He hauled off the old fence and left no mess behind. He was courteous, responsive, and professional. I would definitely consider hiring him again or recommending him for any fencing needs.

Not the most responsive. After several days of waiting and multiple calls I was able to get a hold of him and he tentatively committed to stopping by to examine the fence. Heard nothing after a few more days so called a different fence company who stated they would be out the following workday. Later that same day I got a response back from Sims that he they were in fact able to examine the fence. At that point I had them proceed. The work performed was done well and as scheduled. 4 posts replaced for $400. I am very satisfied with everything and would be more than happy to use them again. (The only thing I didn't like was having to call the other fencing companies back to cancel once Sims Fencing finally got back with me.)

Everything went well, did a great job removing fence posts without damaging sidewalk, new fence and gate looks great. Done quickly and efficiently.

Fantastic. Mike and associate were prompt and courteous. and knew exactly how to join our existing fence together with new fence of neighbors. Respnse was also very quick as there was an issue with a pit dog who may or may not have been able to go through split rail side fence. She seems sweet but dogs are territorial. Mike Sims is the kind of contractor you always hope to work with. From our initial meeting for quotation to the time the work was done, he was courteous, professional and punctual. We feel we got a good price and that Mike understood what we were trying to achieve in this unique corner of our yard. We would definitely work with him again and recommend to anyone needing this type of fencing constructed.

I just want to thank Mike for being very flexible. The day I called, he was available to come by the house and inspect/provide a quote. The first two fencing companies I called said that the job was too small for them. I had set an appointment with Mike and he was prompt and on time. Mike and Luke did an awesome job and finished ahead of time! He even nailed in a few planks that were loose.

He arrived on time, performed the work, and only asked for payment after work was completed. I had a small adjustment that needed to be made to one of the large gates and he was out the next day to fix the problem. Since then one of the gates has warped (perhaps due to green wood, I don't blame Mike for that) and is now totally out of alignment. He has responded to my latest text message and is scheduled to take care of it next week. I can heartily recommend Mike to anyone that has need of a new fence and doesn't want to pay exorbitant prices.

The back fence was leaning badly because the posts were embedded in a concrete border which moved over time. Mike was prompt, appeared when he said he would, and was very personable. His quote was in line with the other quotes we received but Mike agreed to jackhammer out the old posts and put in new posts in the concrete border, which some other companies were not willing to do. He finished the job ahead of schedule and the fence looks great. He also added a third rail, which I recommend as it makes the fence look more uniform. Basically, he was not happy until we were happy.

It went great. We met on a Saturday morning to get an estimate and schedule a time a few weeks out to complete the work. I gave them the option if necessary to replace up to 4 posts. They did not replace any and it looks great.

I called for an estimate and Mr. Sims came promptly the next day. He was able to do the work the following day in only a few hours. He was honest about what work needed done and did not try to sell us any unnecessary services. The work done looks fantastic. I would hire him again in the future.

He arrived on time with his helper. He installed the materials which I provided. He asked if we wanted to keep the old gate hinges. He did not ask about the old gate handle which was in good condition, and so it got hauled off with the gate. They took 2-3 hours to complete the job. He was going to leave the one new picket he had placed on the side fence; it was taller and newer than the old ones and so it was very noticeable. He didn't say anything, I called it to his attention and he then changed it by cutting it down to match the height of the other older pickets. After they left I found some old pieces of wood laying on the neighbors yard and had to clean up some dirt left on the sidewalk. He charged me $300 for the installation. I think that his price was too expensive. It should have been $250.

I originally approached Mike Sims by email. His responses were always prompt and he provided all the details I needed and asked for. He gave me a specific estimate and also informed me about conditions that would alter the estimate. For example, upon inspection, the posts may or may not have to be replaced. He came out and inspected the site and we settled on a work date. He arrived on time as scheduled, and was happy to answer all of my questions. The fence replacement was professionally completed in a timely fashion. All evidence of the old fence was removed. Mike obviously takes pride in the quality of his work. He pointed out the weaknesses in the technique used by the home builder who put in the original fence. Mike then used a better technique that maximized the job that the horizontal support 2x4s do for supporting the fence. Mike was very personable and open to answering questions and talking "fence". I have absolutely no reservations about using him again. Also, I have already referred him to 3 of my friends.

We had 135 linear ft of 10 year old wooden fence that needed replacing. Mike gave a much better price than Lowe's and he wasn't bringing in a bobcat that would trash my grass. He responded to messages quickly and with very specific details about pricing. He held true to the price and there were no hidden fees. We did get delayed a few days because of rain, but he wanted the ground a little drier so he didn't rip up my lawn. Entire fence was taken down and new metal posts placed on day one. Mike took care of the removal of the entire old fence. Day 2 consisted of the entire fence going up, including 2 gates. All new wood and beautiful brackets for the gates. There was no left behind trash, and the new fence is gorgeous. I would recommend Mike Sims and Sims Fencing to ALL my neighbors. (That is a hint, your fences are old and look terrible!)

Mike was very responsive to request for quote and took the time to explain everything that would be done. He showed up on time both days to do the work. He tore down the existing fence and hauled it away. On the second day put up the rails and pickets. Worked diligently and cleaned up after himself. The fence looks great!

Mike was very responsive and professional and gave me a fair estimate. Other companies had similar quotes but Mike was the most responsive so I went with his bid. I scheduled the job for October 15-16 and he was done by 3:30 pm on 10/16/14. The fence looks great and appears to be very well constructed and sturdy. I am thrilled with the outcome and will hire him again to build the fence on the left side of my house, after I get the overgrown brush removed this fall. I would highly recommend his services. He was fast, efficient, did not cut corners and did not leave a mess. I love having a privacy fence!

Mike was great from start to finish. I called him to come out and do an estimate, he was the first company to get back to me and come out. Very straight forward and up front with the price and expectations of the install. Took two days, first to tear down and haul off the old fence along with setting all new post. (Mike mixes the cement on site so that it sets properly and digs new holes for each post) second day him and his team completed putting up the cedar pickets. His professionalism, communication, and customer service was spot on. I highly recommend giving him a call if you're looking at replacing/ repairing your fence.

The job looks great. My grandchildren said it looks like he did great work. I was very happy with the outcome.

Mr. Sims was prompt to respond to my phone call and gave me a great quote on installing a new fence. Best of all, he scheduled the work within the week. He arrived earlier in the morning than he said he would, which was just fine with me! My husband and I were surprised that he didn't have anyone else working with him, but he got 42ft of fence torn down, hauled off, and rebuilt in 4 hours! IMPRESSIVE! He is an honest, fast worker, and it was great to do business with him! Will definitely be hiring him again soon to do the same work on one of our side fences that needs to be rebuilt.

They were very responsive in the beginning. I received a quote from them and sent pictures of the work to be done. After waiting a month for the appointment, they did not show up. They never called or followed up and now it has been a week since the appointment day and still no word from them. I have tried following up by phone and email and I still have gotten no response. I am very disappointed.

.Mr Sims promptly returned my call to him for an estimate on replacing a large portion of my privacy fence. He came out the next day to let me know exactly what to expect with the job and what the cost would be. He was very professional, and it was obvious he has a lot of experience with this type of fence. He arrived on time, on the day he said he would, and finished on the second day as expected. I liked the fact that he actually did most of the work himself and was therefore, on the job the entire time. I'm very happy with the results and would hire him again.

There were several hours of high winds and two sections of fence were blown down breaking off the posts and one section that we propped up where the posts had broken off. We called Mike and he came over the next day and gave us an estimate. He was able to fit us in on the following day. He always called to let us know where he was and that he was on the way. Today [the next day] with two helpers they completed the job in a few hours and it looks great. He removed the old posts installed new ones and attached the fence back on the new posts and used several new fencing boards where needed. I will definitely recommend him and will use his service in the future.

I checked several providers. I read another review that said he simply provided a picture of what he wanted to replace. For the small job I needed done, I really wanted to save him the trip for an estimate. Last week, I was able to email him a description through Angies' List. When he replied to me, I was able to attach a photo and answer his questions.He gave me a quote and we set up today to begin. We talked for the first time this morning! I did clear the Hackberry trees that were embedded in the existing fence line Saturday and sent him those photos. Mike showed up around 9:30 with all the materials and began working. Before we knew it, he had set the posts (fast settng concrete) and finished about 3 pm. Too bad I can't attach a picture! Myself, my neighbor and my wife are very happy!
