Description of Work: I had a leak in a guest bath tub that consistently dripped, dripped, dropped. Shafer Services problem solved several solutions over time until we had to replace some parts. At each point, they were aware of cost, time, and keeping my home clean and safe.! Yes, it took some time, but they did to push the most expensive alternative first, but presented all the alternatives.

Description of Work: They performed an irrigation backflow test that is required by our local water provider. It's usually a $100 service.

Description of Work: Bought an advertised big deal for a Mandatory backflow preventer test of our sprinkler system for 49.00. The company called soon after to set up an appointment. They arrived on time. The plumber found one of our backflow preventers was not working and gave us an estimate of 427 dollars if he was able to fix the one preventer and 869 dollars if we had to replace the whole thing. He immediatetly tried to up sell his annual service plan which is always a little annoying but I did retail for years and understand the pressure on employees to do such things so we normally let this slide. Since this is a mandatory inspection the paperwork gets sent in to the city so you defintiely feel pressure to get things done right now. However, we decided to get a second opinion. We called out another plumber and he verified the one preventer was bad and the part was a 15 dollar seal and he ordered the part came out to replace it and charged us for another backflow test. Total cost of second opinion 203 dollars. But this is not where the biggest F comes in. After the Shafer plumber did our test he forgot to turn the sprinkler valves back on. San Antonio is in a drought. We went on vacation soon after his inspection and missed two watering cycle weeks with temperatures over 100 degrees. When we got home our grass was almost dead and all the plants were stressed. I know not setting the valves might be a minor mistake in most situations but

Description of Work: After buying the deal of the day, Shafer Services called me to schedule the inspection of the backflow preventer in my sprinkler system. The service was performed the same day by Chris Chamrad and was fantastic. I knew why the check was necessary, but nothing about how it was performed or how the valve worked. Chris walked me through the entire process as he performed the checks. I passed. This was alll Shafer "owed" me, but Chris indicated he was a licensed plumber and had much experience in a lot of other areas and asked if he could do anything else for me or could provide any advice, etc. Basically, I was in pretty good shape and as an experienced DIY type really had only one question about whether the valve on my natural gas grill met code. Chris checked it out and indicated that while it was not leaking and functioning properly, the type of valve did not meet code and described in detail what I needed to buy so I could replace the valve myself. He was certainly a very nice, personable and knowledgeable young man. I really got a deal and Shafer deserves their A rating.

Gave me a great discount for adding them as a routine service provider for my HVAC system, which I wanted to do anyway, so a very good experience. don't know if the price was high, or if I just haven't had to pay for plumbing in a long time and the market is higher??Replaced two faucets and fixed kitchen drain promptly and effectively.

Description of Work: We had a leak in our bathtub and shower. The house is over 50 years old with outdated fixtures. We've used Shaver services for most of our plumbing and air conditioning needs since our move to San Antonio, and have most always been very pleased with their service. We particularly are impressed with Chris Chamrad who has called on us a number of times. He takes the time to explain things to us and inform us of different options. We feel he is very concerned in helping customers resolve issues. He did an excellent job in repairing the leak and installing the new plumbing fixtures.

Description of Work: FOR MONTHS I HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH MY SHOWER CONTROLS. THREE DIFFERENT PLUMBERS CHECKED IT AND REPORTED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. CHRIS FROM SHAFER SERVICES FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE A SIMPLE WASHER THAT WAS TOO SOFT AND THE RETAINING SCREW LOOSENED WITH THE FLOW OF WATER. THE CONTROL WORKS LIKE IT SHOULD NOW.

Description of Work: My six (6) year old water heater gave up the ghost. Lower element was covered in sand and pebbles from the water from the aquifer. Yes, I do have a water softener. Shafer responded quite promptly and arrived at the appointment time. Technician explained the problem, showed why it stopped working and then quoted the price. $1434.00. That seemed high when one looks at water heaters at Home Depot and Lowes but I've my grandchildren with us for the summer and cold showers would not due! He installed the new heater along with an expansion tank, new drain tank and a quick action valve to be used when flushing the tank. When the bill was presented it was $1434.00 but we said " we found you on ANGIE's List so the bill was reduced to $1413.00. He, Chris, attempted to add an additional charge to bring the bill to $1449.00 however serious discussion, we paid $1413.00. I will call them again but I'll be very careful to take the time, when possible, to compare prices!
