Shafer Services was a Godsend. When my drain clogged on Saturday morning, I had some trouble finding a plumber who would come out on Saturday, let alone one who would charge a reasonable rate for Saturday dispatch. When I called Shafer Services, however, I got just what I was looking for (thank you, Angie's List!) The receptionist answered the phone when I called, was very polite, and scheduled Chris to come out to the house just a few hours later. The dispatch fee was a reasonable $49. Chris arrived on time, took a look at the sink, and diagnosed the problem in under 10 minutes. He thoroughly explained the problem and informed us that the repair fee would be $82. We agreed to the fee, and he performed the repair in under an hour. On his way out the door, Chris noticed my husband's military cap and asked if one of us was active duty. When we replied yes, he informed us that Shafer Services offers a 10% military discount, bringing the total price of the service to $122.80. We thought this price was very reasonable for such prompt, professional, competent service--especially on a Saturday.

We had water coming up through the carpeting in a bedroom. We were unsure what could be causing it, but suspected the pipe leading the hose. We called this company and they were able to send a plumber out in a couple hours. He found the leak where we suspected, and replaced the pipes. He also installed a handle on the faucet to the hose that would be easier for me to turn.

They were responsive and professional. They were able to solve the problem and took measures not to make a big mess of the yard. They took measures to pinpoint the problem before "digging in". They were considerate of our water bathroom needs.

Everything went well. They were neat, clean, and professional. They explained everything in detail. After they finished their service, they explained some things that we should consider: having a video camera snaked thru the system to see where the roots are coming into the pipe and installing a clean-out port in the yard to avoid having to go on the roof. We were very satisfied with the service, but felt that the price was a bit high.

Their prices are too high. They are not affordable. They were very nice and courteous, but their pricing was above our range.

They were responsive and punctual. I believe their prices were fair comparatively. They did not try to push a big sale on stuff we didn't need, and I appreciated that. They respected the Angie's List coupon. They were fast and friendly.

Discovered the yard was flooded one morning and wasn't sure if water was leaking from the irrigation line or water main. Shafer came out and through impressive deductive reasoning by Bob, ruled out the irrigation line as the source of the leak. They dug for over an hour in the mud and had to resort to using an electric saw to remove a huge root ball that had cracked a pipe 2 feet down in the yard. Bob and Carlos were extremely polite, professional and hard working. In addition, Bob took extra time to teach me about the different shut off valves and how I could work around one that wouldn't shut completely until I could have it replaced. I was very impressed and will definitely call them again next time.

When we purchased our pre-owned home, we discovered problems with the sewer plumbing especially affecting the lines in the master bathroom facilities. After homeowner insurance company inspected, they determined that our problem was not attributed to foundation problems so claim was denied. After considering a couple of bids we decided to go with Shafer Services and the work was done in July of 2007 by Chris Chemrad and staff. They replaced the plumbing in the foundation, cleared out all of the water lines, took out a cable that had been lodged in the line leading from the kitchen sink. We waited a year to make sure we had no recurring problems before writing this review. We are pleased to announce that the job Shafer did is a complete success!! Chris came out once to unclog our kitchen sink and recommended some remedies to keep the drain running smooth and clean. We recommend Shafer Services to our relatives and friends.

I called Shafer after reading the favorable reviews in Angie's List and was very pleased with their service. We had a leaky pipe under a bathroom sink and a broken handle and flapper in a toilet that needed repair. While the service technician was out, I showed him problems with two other toilets (one that ran all the time, and the other that did not always flush completely) and a slow-draining bathtub. He prepared an estimate for repairing all 3 toilets and the bathroom sink, and said he would not charge me to clean out the bathtub drain. He explained all the repairs so I understood what was involved. Once I approved the estimate, he worked diligently until everything was fixed. We will definitely call Shafer again when we have a plumbing problem.

I did not hire him. Way over priced for simple job. Either he did not want to do the work or did not care to have anymore work. I have hired these people in the past and it really depends on the person they send out to do the work. They all vary in attitude and pricing.

Work was performed quickly and efficiently. Service technician was prompt.

Our neighbor notified us of a leak last night in our front yard. We called Shafer and left a message. I didn't hear back from them and called again around noon. They were very helpful and apologized for not getting back right away. We setup an appointment at 2pm. At 1:45 I got a call confirming that I was at home and at 2:05pm Chris was at my door. A+ for punctuality. Chris came identified that the problem was with the irrigation system and not with the water line. He turned the water back on to the house and gave me an estimate to find and repair the broken pipe (it would require digging). Since this is a new house (to us) and we know nothing about the irrigation system, I decided to call an irrigation specialist. I paid the dispatch fee and am back on Angie's List looking for an irrigation specialist. :-) I would definitely use Shafer again!

I called on a Monday morning and Shafer scheduled me for that day between 3 and 5 pm. I got a call about 4:15 that Bob was on his way out. Once he arrived, it didn't take him long to diagnose the problem. He also did a freon check on the units and told me how to get the coils de-iced once we got the new filters installed. We put in new filters a couple of hours later and the system has worked great since then.

They did a very good job. They were very responsive. I was very impressed.

The experience was very good. Both the replacing of the faucet and the repair of the leak were very professional and they were also very prompt in getting the job done.

They put the freon in my system when it didn't need it. They made some suggestions but they wouldn't do the work. Overall, it was a bad experience. They were pretty polite but I just don't think they did a very good job.

Our A/C stopped working all-of-a-sudden one day. We have two small kids at home (a 3 yr old and a 7 month old) so this was an emergency situation for us. I was already looking for someone to come out and check our A/C unit but as a regular maintenance call not an emergency. I checked Angie's List and Shafer came highly recommended so they were on 'my list' to call. It turns out that we needed someone to come out right away so I called them. I spoke with the dispatcher and she walked me through checking the thermostat to ensure that it wasn't just a dead battery. Turns out we have a battery-less thermostat. With this information, she decided it was best to have someone come out as soon as possible. Within a few hours, Rick showed up, he diagnosed the problem and went to correct it right away. He was at the house for almost two hours; explaining what he was doing (to my husband - who followed him all around). He also explained a service plan that Shafer offered. Overall, our service from Shafer was outstanding; not only because they came to our rescue but Rick took the time (a lot of it) to explain and check everything within and around our A/C system. We are definitely using them again. My husband and I are very pleased with their service.

I have used this company for about two years now. I did find them on Angie's List. I have used them for both plumbing and heating and air conditioning services. I am satisfied with the work that they do and I have recommended them to other people.

This is one of the best companies I know of. They put on booties so they don't get your house dirty. They do excellent work. The men who have been here are very personable. They fix the leaks.

Their pricing was very reasonable. They responded very quick, they were out the very next morning and they were done in a very timely manner. They were very respectful about being in my business during business hours.

Will call Shafer services again when there is a need for plumbing, A/C, etc., repair.

They were prompt and they finished on time.

I enjoyed the workers and I was very pleased for the most part. But the problem was that I paid for the work when it was finished and after the workmen left I proceeded to check out what they had done. I found that one new air return was not hooked up to a duct! Many of the ducts had not been tied up correctly and and air was leaking out of the ducts because they were not pookied(?) at the joining. I called Shafer and they came out the next day. I asked that someone check ALL the work. I had found so much that was not done right that I felt that I didn't trust what I couldn't see. The supervisor was great and came out with some men to correct the situation. They came back until the work was done right and I felt comfortable with the quality of the system. It seems that they had a new person and he was not doing a good job, I felt that I should not have been the one to discover this! I was also amazed that after all I went through; a two and a half day job turned into two weeks that I had to ask for a discount on two attic stair insulating tents that I decided to have put in. The supervisor apparently stepped in on my behalf and got me a discount. If he hadn't done that I would have paid full price. That just isn't right.

From start to finish, Bob Archambault told me what he was going to do, how it was going to be done and when it was going to be done. I knew everything that was going to happen and when. There were no surprises, difficulties or changes in plans or expenses. Everything happened just as he said it would and on schedule. When he left, it was as if nothing happened and nothing was out of place because they cleaned up and you could not tell that they were here. I have already recommended these folks to other friends at work. In the future, they will be the only one that I will call. Yes, I am extremely happy with their work.
