We are moving in a week, and I was SO worried that the wall would have to get knocked out to fix the problem. It looked like water had gone into the wall. The repairman only needed to replace the spout. He was courteous, on time, and quick. Thank you SO much!

I set the appointment up online on a Sunday for the next day or following day. They called first thing Monday morning to arrange the visit for a little later that morning. Serviceman was prompt and in uniform which was very neat. He performed the services, cleaned up the area and explained what his findings were.

Bob replaced the Gerber Tub Trim which means to me that he fixed the leak and I ended up with new beautiful knobs for the cold & hot water faucets plus the one for the shower head. Being that the plumbing was quite old he had to work diligently to get that area repaired.

Chris came out, and did a the test that is now required by the water company, I had no idea! Anyways I bought the groupon, the company came out, and it was done! that's it. They made out the paperwork and they sent it to the water company, and I was done, no worries! I am in the process of getting into their month program so I will always have a licensed plumber and heating and air conditioning company when I need them. Great company!

Air conditioner stopped working on a Saturday morning. Having no experience with HVAC repairs myself, I called Shafer after referral by friend and checking reviews. Dispatcher was pleasant, and the technician came out fairly promptly in light of short notice. Very professional. Quickly identified the problem: capacitor. Technician then noted that the motor looked worn and close to failing. He recommended replacement of the motor as well. Since this tripled the cost of the repair, I was not exactly jumping all over the idea. Outside of pointing to significant exterior wear, he didn't give me a lot of objective criteria to work with. In the end, I went with his judgment, but I still don't know if it was necessary. On the other hand, when I asked him about how I would go about cleaning the coils, he took my hose and showed me free of charge, so that was going a little above and beyond in my opinion. If you research the DIY costs of replacing these items, it would be hard to consider them a bargain. However, given the responsiveness and quality of the service overall, I have come to terms with the cost. Most importantly, the AC is working again.

Quoted $617 to repair a coupler which I had already dug out and exposed. Roto-rooter did it for $150. I could have done the job myself in 90 minutes and $15 in parts but had to work. I understand a business needs to make a profit but that is attempting to take advantage of perceived ignorance. This isn't rocket science guys, it is plumbing.

In an effort to identify energy related issues that I could address to reduce my monthly utility bills, I had CPS Energy conduct a 4-hour energy audit of my house followed by a comprehensive audit using diagnostic tools a couple of weeks later. One of the recommendations was to upgrade my AC unit from a SEER 10 to SEER 16 or SEER 17. I identified SHAFER Services on the CPS approved contractor list and read all of their reviews on Angie's List. After validating them against the Better Business Bureau website, I scheduled a home visit to discuss my options. Booth Petry arrived on time and talked to me in length about my goals and what I hoped to achieve with this upgrade. He spent a significant amount of time in the attic and came back to me prepared to discuss recommended upgrades and services knowing all the time that I wasn't planning on doing the upgrade until November 2012. Booth explained in detail what he would recommend along with the additional services I would require to insure code compliance and ultimate energy efficiency including sealing the duct work in hard to reach places where my previous AC guy missed just a few short weeks earlier. I was very impressed with Booth's knowledge, professionalism and the fact that he was selling me only what I needed to achieve my goals and not the most expensive product they had available. He addressed everyone of my questions fully didn't try to talk me out of the brand of AC that I specifically wanted to buy. Booth also did an exceptional job of explaining his Companies history, reputation and service plans. I had another similar Contractor, on CPS recommended list that I also scheduled for a home visit the same day. They came, made their pitch, expressed their recommendations and provided a quote that was $800 less than SHAFER. I called Booth, asked if the price could be discounted which he came back with a reduced price of $500 lest than the original quote. Even though they were still $300 higher then their competitor, I chose SHAFER. The install team arrived as promised, on schedule and on time. Hector and Edgar staged their equipment neatly, proceeded with the installation, cleaned up as they went, respected my property and completed the installation job in one day. When they fired up the unit at the end of the day, everything responded positively immediately and I experienced no issues throughout the night. The next day was set aside for the follow-on work i.e. relocate a section of duct work to comply with code compliance rules and seal the missed spots in the duct work. All work was completed as promised. There were no issues whatsoever during the entire process. The installers were always professional, in uniform and polite. The Service and Installation Manager, Steve Burdette, was on-site several times during the install and pitched n where needed, explained everything that was transpiring as the install progressed and insured the work was quality. I was very pleased the Supervisory oversight. The day after the installation was completed, Booth appeared with all of the CPS Energy rebate paperwork completed on my behalf and dropped it off to me to sign and mail along with a thoughtful thank you gift from the owner, Jimmy Shafer. I am 100% satisfied with the entire process and never felt pressured or left in the dark. This company enjoys a stellar reputation for a reason. They stand behind their commitment, they are trustworthy and honorable. I expect to enjoy a long term relationship with them and would unhesitatingly refer them to a friend. The unit by the way has worked without issue and has exceeded my expectations.

I notified Shafer & Bob arrived in very short time. He dug down to the place of the actual leak & the joint of the plastic pipe connecting to the main water line had broken.

Bob and his assistant, Robert thoroughly examined the handicap toilet & did the necessary repairs. This included removing the toilet from it's base to correct a rocking motion when seated upon. The bubbling disappeared & the toilet was re-anchored solidly.

The first surprise was the appointed arrival time for the job was between 8 and 8:30 a.m., rather that the usual "between 8 and 12" we get from other companies. Bill Satterfield did arrive in a timely fashion. We listed and discussed the jobs at hand and he gave me the cost of each job before he started the work. He finished up early afternoon and did a very good job cleaning up after himself. Bill was professional in his work and it was a plesure working with him. We have used Shafer previously and will deffinately call upon them agan as the need arises.

The service was great. The people were friendly and on-time. The old air conditioner was broken so we needed a new one quickly. They got it quickly. The prices were competitive and the workmanship was top notch. We have a service contract with them. We have been using them for years. This was the first time that we really needed something and they were great.

Their technician found a problem with the valve, and offered to replace it for $849, which I thought was ridiculously high. When I declined to to allow him to repair/replace the backflow preventor he advised me that he would have to notify the county that it had failed inspection. I felt like I was being extorted. Then yesterday, I received a voice mail message from a Shafer representative stating they would knock $100 off the repair, and reminded me again that I was in violation. I researched the price of the back flow preventor at Lowes, who sell the unit for $107. I should have known better to buy this deal. At $59 Shafer is losing money to dispatch a plumber to do these inspections. They are counting on the unit failing and then making it up on the back end. What I should have done is found out what they charge for the replacement of the back flow preventor, in the event it failed, before I let them do the inspection. And then gotten quotes from other pluming companies to see if they are competitive. I should have done my homework before letting them do the inspection.

I called Shafer services and they scheduled me for an appointment with an hour and a half of when I called. When Chris arrived, he introduced himself and was very professional and pleasant. He explained the work he was going to do, explained why he was doing it and checked to make sure that I understood and didn't have any questions. He completed the work quickly and efficiently and even went beyond what was expected because the back-flow preventer needed some cleaning and a little extra work to get it operating properly which he did without any extra charge. I was very impressed with his service and had never used this company before, but will definitely be calling them in the future.

No response. Submitted Request For Quote 10 days ago with no response. Too small a job, I guess. Good thing it wasn't important.

My appointment time was between 1-3. Del Satterfield and his partner from Shafer arrived at 1:30pm. He provided me with some sales material for other services that Shafer performs for me to review. They quickly got to performing the testing on the backflow plumbing required by SAWS. They were done within 30 minutes. He then asked me for the SAWS letter which contains the serial number of my unit. He informed me that they would be attaching the test results to the SAWS letter and they would be mailing it to SAWS. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

We needed the cartridge in the shower faucet replaced. It's easy to do, unless it is stuck. (I've since found out there is a tool we could have bought to help us remove the cartridge.) My husband didn't want to force it and break it, so we called a professional. I was flabbergasted that a job that took 15-20 minutes would cost $200, which included the angieslist discount AND coupon ($25 off for showing up). At first I said "forget it", but then I realized that I had to pay $40 (minus $25) just for the quote, and told him to go ahead and do it. It did include the part too (which we already had, but will use in other shower. It costs about $30 retail). The people in the office, and the plumber, were professional, and on time, and they called back the next day to ask if we were happy with their service (I wasn't home; they left a friendly message). We've only had one other plumber. I thought he charged a very reasonable price, but I can't get a hold of him. So, I don't know what is reasonable in the plumbing business, but $200 for a total of 30-40 minutes from time he walked in until he left, seems unreasonable. For quick, easy jobs like that, I think charging by the job is more customer-friendly.

I have always had a good experience with Shafer. They have some of the most professional employees. They usually leave my house cleaner than it was prior to their arrival. Their prices may be higher than some, but you pay for a higher quality of work. They work quickly and always do a good job. The plumbers who arrived to fix my leaking water line explained exactly what they were doing and what potentially went wrong. I was very satisfied with the price and they were at my house within 45 minutes of my call.

They originally quoted a price of $4500 since it would take all day and a lot of work to fix our duct work. When they were done in 2 hours I complained. The price then dropped to $2000 with no explanation. It was still too high for what was done. They do not give itemized bills. This is the second time I have found their prices to be arbitrary.

I have used them for a number of years and they are very reliable. They have a very good workmanship. They are the fastest and provide good service. The price is competitive.
