After obtaining three estimates to outfit an existing gas line for a new gas stove, I chose Shafer Services because Bob's estimate was reasonable and he instilled a lot of confidence. The day of the job, Bob and Daryl worked together. They pointed out that the existing gas line was in an awkward spot behind my kitchen cabinets. They offered two possible solutions. The work was done neatly and professionally. I would use their services again!

When I discovered water under my kitchen sink, I called Shafer Services. They responded quickly . The serviceman found the leak coming from the garbage disposal. Since the disposal needed to be replaced, I asked him to replace the old faucet as well. The job was completed and checked to be sure there was no leaking. The serviceman was efficient and courteous. The next morning. I checked under the sink and found there was water on the bottom of the cabinet. I called Shafer Services and told them there was a problem. Within one hour the apologetic serviceman arrived at my house and diagnosed the problem. There was a crimp in a very tiny O ring in a part of the new faucet. He fixed it and that took care of the problem. I highly recommed Shafer Services!

We had some plumbing concerns and Chris came over from Shafer and confirmed them. He explained our options and made detailed checks of all the plumbing fixtures in the house. He took plenty of time to explain what was working well and what wasn't working well.

All fixed. Charge for service call under their Service Contract was $20. He came within 3 hours of call. In a another hour or so, I could have called a friend and confirmed what to do, but it was pretty painless, and it was a surefire correct fix. Really helped out as we were having dinner guests on Saturday night. I reviewed Shafer partially when our unit was installed awhile back and promised to get back to how the 18 SEER A/C Heater worked. It has been flawless. We are able to run our A/C at 70 on summer nights and our highest bill in the hottest part of the summer was about $220, and I keep it at 72 in the daytime. We had some self inflicted issues due to new animals in the house. We had to sequester the cat in the part of the house where the thermostat is. It is the cool part of the house and it would be hot in other part. All this to protect our furniture from the new large puppy chasing the cat across the house, flipping rocking chairs, scratching tables, etc. Things have calmed down and our bills have been ranging from $70 to $170, with the warm air available to the thermostat. Things are normally very even in our 1 story home due to a complete return system from the far end of the house to the A/C unit. I estimate the new unit is saving at least $50/month on cool months and $200/month on severely hot months. It has 2 compressors, a large and small. It is a Ruud. It cost $11,000, with several discounts it got down to $9000. Lowest bid we got was $6750, from Gillette for a 13 SEER. I am pretty sure the 18 SEER has paid for itself already. If not, it will pretty soon. Oh, a note about filters. The filters are $60 or so each. Shafer provides a link to an internet provider who mails the filters to you and they are aftermarket and $25 each. Virtually the same filter, if not THE SAME filter. I keep finding out little EXTRA VALUE things from them I did not know I had. Like the $20 service call.

Plumber spent over two hours checking all areas. Gave complete report on findings.

They came out the same day I called. He went to get the right part and came back the next day to finish the job but was able to make it work so we They're very professional and let you the prices up front. There are hidden costs.

Our hot water heater quit yesterday but we didn't notice til 11 PM. After finding Shafer's Services on Angie's List, I called their answering service and requested a service call in the morning. The call didn't come by 10:30 AM so I called Shafer Services and spoke with Victoria, the dispatcher. After I explained the problem, she was very apologetic that I hadn't received a call and said even though she only had 1 plumber over the weekend, she'd do her very best to have her plumber Larry respond. Well, the phone rang at 11 AM and it was Larry saying he'd be over in 10 minutes. He quickly determined the gas controller was displaying a code indicating high water pressure. He checked the water pressure to ensure it wasn't too high coming in from the city. He relieved some pressure from the heater, cleared the code and re-lit the burner. The unit is 4 years old and the parts are under warranty (but not labor). He explained that there's really no way to tell if just clearing that code and re-lighting will solve the problem long-term. He gave me the choice of replacing the gas controller (problem prone Honeywell unit) or just going with the re-light. He had a controller on his truck but said he couldn't tell if it would fit the water heater until he got it apart (the length of the nozzle that extends into the burner varies and isn't indicated by the part number). Since it's Saturday and the parts houses are closed, I opted to not tear it down and render it dead for the weekend if the part wasn't right. So, I'm hoping that the clearing of the code and re-light was enough. Victoria was wonderful in getting Larry (who had a full day scheduled already) dispatched to our house. Larry and Frank were very professional. If I have further problems, I won't hesitate to call Shafer Services.

They did a great job. In fact I went ahead and further became one of their customers. I pay a certain amount. Every year they come out and do the water heater check and toilet check. It helped me significantly because the water company needs to have a certificate that I did have it installed. They took care of all that right away. That was well worth the time. That individual came well ahead of time. He put the backflow regulator on in 15 minutes. He came and he was gone before I knew it. I was very pleased with their service. There was no problem and it met the requirements of the water company. The water that gets into the sprinkler includes fertilizers and that type of thing; it won’t happen and it doesn’t get sucked up into the house. He took care of that. I couldn’t be more pleased with their work. I thought the pricing was very reasonable. They told me what they were going to do. They told that they will open up the ground to put the regulator in. They closed the ground back up and it looked wonderful. I had arranged a certain time. They came out and had everything ready. They came 10 minutes early and were done within 10 to 15 minutes. They were right on target. I was so thrilled with their work that I ended up taking them as my point of contact if I needed any other plumbing work done. They definitely had their plumber’s package. I would recommend them to anybody.

Shafer is always professional and thorough. We only use Shafer for our plumbing and AC/heating issues. Michelle scheduled the appointments, and she was friendly and helpful to schedule the most convenient times for us. Both Chris and Josh arrived at the appointed times and did thorough inspections. Josh on Jan 9 and Chris on Jan 16.

John Beron, the plumber, was excellent. It was late (we were the last appointment of the evening, but he did arrive in the appointment window), but he enthusiastically and professionally investigated the plumbing and cleared the drain. He was very thorough in making sure it was cleaned and running well. He helped us to define the plumbing (which is not visible) and helped us to find a second cleanout outside. He answered questions about how to prevent the problem in the future. While investigating the problem, he sincerely said, "I love this stuff." His experience, caring and enthusiasm were wonderful. The cost was reasonable and less than another company was going to charge. Another plumbing company had already tried to clear the problem with a snake (a quick attempt) and were planning to return with a camera and a water jet which would have cost us nearly $500. I am so glad they couldn't show up on time and we had the opportunity to work with Mr. Beron. I would recommend to anyone!

Larry, the service man was very polite. His work was excellent and professional. He worked very quickly and before he finished his repair he showed me what he discovered the problem was. I was amazed and shocked at the same time. He discovered that on a previous repair wrong parts were used! After which he made the necessary repaired. His work was through and he cleaned up the work site. My hats off to Larry and his company, Shafer Services! I would highly recommend their services.

The work went well, they were informative and performed all the work to repair the problem. Unfortunately, the cost seemed very steep per the work performed. The leak was bad and the pressure regulator was damaged, and being two days from Thanksgiving, we had to get it done immediately. Our usual plumber was not available, so we tried these folks. Since its only been a few hours since the work was done, we can only judge their work by the immediate result. The hole was dug neatly and it all appears to be in order. The Eakins seems to have been a fairly easy fix, with no part replacement require. But, the hole had to be dug by hand. The regulator repair was a complete replacement. They hauled away the damaged regulator. But, by our calculations on their time spent on the job, and the retail cost of the parts, the total cost seems to break down to $240/hour. Our regular plumber only charges $100/hour. So, we feel a bit bummed by paying $500 above what we normally would have paid. I will note that they don't quote by the hour and my calculations are based on my research on parts and their time spent here. The only reason we'd reconsider using them is the price of heir services. Otherwise, I'd give them a better rating.

Salesman was super!! Stayed and answered questions as long as I asked them. Gave me a price on installing mini-splits in my home. I learned a lot about ac. All said & done- the price of the product can't be justified for this home. I was very happy with the company and would use them for other services.

We had very old water faucets at the washer connections...they started leaking which burst into a full flow. I called on a Sat morning and came out that early afternoon. He replaced the connections and added new lines to the washer...then cleaned out the connector at the washer. Very courteous and prompt and was willing to look at a dripping faucet in the upstairs bathroom. Will use again if necessary.

We had an Aquasana whole house water treatment system installed. It went very smoothly, with a few novel adaptations invented on the spot that worked well.

It was not very good, the gentleman who came over had tried to upsell me on buying like a membership or something where they would come out and handle all my plumbing needs. He was supposed to come out and do one of the back flow tests. My house is new, it doesn't require yet to have one but I saw the deal and I'm like I'll just do it and so I told him I don't really need that but I just wanted to have it done and kind of have a standard thing that it had been completed. He came and he was there for like 5 minutes and came back and said it failed, it's a brand new house, how could it had failed. He was like there maybe debris in there or something but I could do it again but that would be another $150 and I said, 'No, thank you. I think it should still be under warranty.' I called the company who had put in our plumbing and they said it wasn't them, it's through the irrigation so I called the company who did our lawn irrigation and he came out and he said it was a rock and he pulled it out and then it passed the test and they didn't charge me. I wasn't happy with Shafer because the second guy who came out who did my sprinkler set said that I had to perform 2 different tests so if the first one failed, you had to perform the second one see if there's actually a problem with the back flow and had he performed the second one and see if there's nothing wrong with it and had he done the second one that he would have known to check the first trap I guess and he would have seen the rock. He didn't do his job, he was trying to sell me something else when I'd already paid for and I wasn't impressed with him. I wouldn't use them again and I wouldn't recommend them to anybody else.

I called Shafer services by phone 2 weeks ago now to schedule a "backflow prevention test". I had previously used their services in 2012 through an Angie's list deal I found on the website. I was very pleased with all services last year and gave them a glowing review. I spoke to a clerk and stated I wanted to schedule an appt for a backflow prevention test. I guess I made the mistake of asking if there were any "Angie's list member deals" (since i'd gotten a deal last year). Then she proceeded to put me on hold. When she came back to the line she asked for my name and phone number and stated someone would call me back about if there was a "deal/special" or not and schedule an appt. Well it is November 1st and STILL no call back. I have now decided just to find another company.........very disappointing!

We had joined a sort of membership with them and we weren't impressed. We were supposed to get all sort of check ups and other services and we feel like we didn't get any value from the money we spent. We thought they were outrageously expensive on their prices.

Excellent diagnostic work done by the Shafer team. Ultimately, could not find the source of the water, but told me that the next step would be to engage and roofer and provided me with information that could be passed on to the roofer and my insurance company.

This went very well. The technician showed up on time. I got a discount on the work from Angie's List. He seemed very knowledgeable about the work and was able to get the work done within a couple of hours. We purchased the part form them and they already had it in stock. We were very pleased.

This went very well. I was required to have a licensed inspection of the lawn irrigation system which is locally required every two years. It was determined mine was faulty and the technician made an effort to repair it before recommending a replacement. After it was apparent the repair could not resolve the problem, I authorized replacement and it was done on the spot. He walked me through the entire process showing me the gauge readings so I had no doubt about the accuracy of the inspection. While here, I asked him about the pressure control valve on my house's main water supply line. He checked that for me at no charge. He was very prompt and professional. I would definitely use them again.

Excellent! Quick to get an appointment...he showed up on time! Great price...had a deal for $49.00 when this type of inspection usually runs $125.00. I would absolutely use again!
