Plumber was very informative and worked quickly and cleanly. It’s been a couple weeks now and still no problems. They stuck to the estimate no surprise costs. Definitely going to be using them for any work I need done.

+ -1 moreOur renters called and said that the A/C wasn't cooling. I am out of the country, so I looked all over Angie's List for an A rated A/C service company with lots of good reviews and as a bonus offered a military discount. I then contacted my partner and ask him to contact Service First, first. He contacted me and told me that he had to continue looking for a reputable and more professional company because the receptionist he spoke with was rude and sort of sarcastic when he asked about free estimates. According to him, she answered yes so he asked a follow-up question, what if it needs Freon? She apparently answered well that's $79.00 for the service call in a harsh tone. Needless to say, there are way too many A/C service companies out there to deal with that have receptionist with better attitudes towards callers with basic questions.
Description of Work: We called to see if we could get someone to take a look at the A/C Unit at our Rental Property.

+ -1 morelThe technician from Service first said they hadn't been in our attic for two years. I mentioned the new AC unit installed the previous year in July. They could find no record of it even thought I produced a receipt showing not only had they been here in July and sold us an new condenser but in Nov of last year as well for a maintenance check. Their tech took a picture of the receipt for the new AC. When we told the office manager that we felt this issue was due to their "cleaning" the Air handler in the attic when they installed the condenser last year(they wanted to check the air handler to make sure it did not need to be replaced along with the condenser outside) and not putting the overflow pipe back through the hole in the attic so any residual water could leak outside they denied any responsibility and then would not accept or return our calls. When my husband called again to ask if they were going to fix the issue the office manager was very nasty, hung up on us and again said they were not responsible. It cost almost 3 grand in mold remediation. Fortunately for us we have great insurance and our insurance took care of the mold remediation.
Description of Work: Call Service first because we noticed water was dripping from the attic between the walls where mold formed. The air handler is in the attic and the overflow pipe instead of being placed through a hole in the exterior part of the roof like it had always been originally was left on the ceiling floor dripping between the walls. Service First were the last ones in our attic when the new AC was installed a year ago. Service first came out, went into the attic and confirmed what we already knew.

They cleaned and picked up everything and were very cautious of the property and explained the process along the way. Before the technicians left Jesse took the time to explain the thermostat and how it is programmed. Thank you Jesse and Johnny!! We will definitely use you again for all our family business!!
Description of Work: Service First has definitely lived by their business name "Service First" From the time technicians Jesse came to my parents home to give them an estimate and CLEARLY explained all the services and options available and how the system would not improve air flow and would help improve the quality of the air in the home. My parents are elderly and are on a fixed income and as one of their children I can say we are very protective and cautious of how they choose to use their money to replace the a/c unit . + -1 moreOverall we are very satisfied. The day they removed our old unit and installed the new one they showed up right on time. They put down tarps that ran from the front door to the attic steps and were very careful to not damage the walls or doors. The ONLY reason I did not give them all A's was because they had told me that it would take about 7-8 hours to complete the work but it ended up taking almost 13 hours (gave them a B under professionalism but didn't know which category above this issue fit into the best). I set it up to have them start between 5:00 & 5:30 AM so it wouldn't run too far into the heat of the day (100 degree highs). They actually had the outside unit complete by about 10:30 and around 11AM the 4 man team went to a 2 man team due to other appointments in their schedule and the 2 man team remaining went to a long lunch break (almost 2 hours). When they returned, they moved slower than they had in the morning but got the job done. For most this probably wouldn't have been an issue but I had boarded our dogs for the day and HAD to pick them up by 7pm. They finished at 6:40 and I was able to get there just in time but I was getting a little worried towards the end. As I said earlier, I am very satisfied with the work they did and will definitely use them again and would recommend them to my friends and family. I didn't give them a review right away because I wanted to be sure I didn't have any problems before submitting it. Although it's almost November now, the weather has not gotten cold enough to turn on the heat, so please take that into consideration but the unit has a 10 year warranty and the AC part of the unit has worked great, so we're not anticipating any issues!
Description of Work: The evening of July 31st around 8pm, I noticed our house was warmer than normal and checked the thermostat to find it was 5 degrees warmer than what it was set at. The fan was working but the air coming out was not cool. I turned off the AC for about 10 minutes, checked the outside unit for signs of freezing and turned it back on - without any improvement. I called the AC company that we had used since purchasing the house in 2005 to schedule an appointment and they were less than interested in my problem, gave me several things to try on my own and basically blew me off stating they wouldn't be able to come out for another day or more. Frustrated, I tried the suggestions of the other company (which included turning the AC off overnight) and went to bed. Of course this didn't work so in the morning I googled AC companies in SA with 24 hour emergency services and came across Service First AC & Heating and gave them a call. They said they could be at my house in about an hour and they got here in about 50 min! They diagnosed the problem and fixed our unit for about $250 in little more than half an hour. We had already discussed getting a new AC & Heating system within the next year so I asked they guy from Service First about they brands, sizes and prices of units they offered and how soon they could replace our unit. They were very professional and not pushy about selling us a new system, just provided the information and gave several options to chose from and said if we wanted them to install a new unit to give them a call and set it up. We called later that day (Aug 1st) and they came out and installed our new Amana unit (AC & Furnace) on Aug 4th for just under $10,000 with military discount and have not had any problems since.

+ -1 moreAround 9 PM on a Sunday night, I noticed that my AC unit was not producing cold air - and in Texas during the middle of summer, this was a very big problem. I jumped on Angie's List and found Service First that offered 24/7 support. I called them and they said a technician would be at my house within an hour. As stated, the tech was at my door at an hour on the dot. He quickly determined that the issue was the capacitor and replaced my damaged capacitor with a new one. He checked all the AC vitals and noticed no other problems. The overall experience was great! It's comforting to know that there are service companies out there that you can trust.

+ 0 moreOverall I called an Air Condition repair through word of mouth (friends) was a little cautious at first, did not know what was going on with my air condition or how much it would cost, was very surprised how other companies would try to take advantage of you if your not careful, word of advise get several estimates and talk to friends to get there advise, if I wouldn't have called for a second or third estimate I would have spent over $5,000.00 compared to $930.00. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!
Description of Work: This company is a ripoff, DO NOT USE! I called them for a repair of an evaporator coil, they quoted me a price of over $2,000.00, (for the attic unit) but then the Tec stated the outside unit had a "bigger" leak of freon and stated it would cost around $4,000.00 to repair for a total of $7000.00. He then pulled out a white binder and said "We have a special on a complete new unit (GOODMAN) that we can install for $5,000.00". I called three other companies and they all stated the outside unit is good but the evaporator coil in the attic need to be replaced, overall I called Control Climate which gave me the best price $930.00 and Ruben Flores was very professional and was on time, Great Job, he has my business for life. I would defiantly recommend him to anyone and I have. Thanks for your honesty Ruben.

+ -1 moregot there quick replaced failed part quickly and even made sure the correct amount of freon was in system they also have a very reasonable yearly maintenance program for around 129.00 they come out twice a year to check and do preventive maintenance.
Description of Work: They came out on Saturday night at 8 PM they were there 30 minutes after I called, They found the problem in minutes and replaced the capacitor. Very professional and an honest company I highly recommend them.

+ -1 moreOh my goodness! To go without A/C last weekend for a whole day in this unbearable heat! Well, by Sunday afternoon I had tried everything I could think of to check and called Service First Mechanical. First of all, I was impressed that I wasn't dealing with voice mail but the owner himself! Mr. Overman very quickly let me know he was already fully booked with service calls for Mon. & Tues. So, he offered to come out later that same day cause I was pretty desperate and hot. He arrived when he said he would and quickly found the source of my problem. The overflow pipe was completely backed up and leaking out all over my floor so he flushed out the unit and saw where there had been some wrong installation done and fixed that too. He was very professional and courteous.
Description of Work: Unclogged the overflow drainage pipe on my A/C unit in my home on the weekend (Sunday evening). And even returned very promptly (15-20 minutes) after initially leaving because I thought there was still another problem with the unit.
