RYLAND HOMES

We purchased an “inventory home” from Ryland, now CalAtlantic the beginning of the year. We primarily chose Ryland because family of ours had a great experience with them several years ago in Cibolo. My husband and I’s experience from day 1 has been in contrast and severely poor. I’m not sure if it’s because we were out of state or Ryland just didn’t care. We had to ask several times to have a new loan officer because the one in San Antonio had a poor attitude. They sent our case to a woman in Arizona who was AMAZING! The closing date of the home was scheduled for 12 January since we had started paperwork. Somewhere in the mix there were SEVERAL closing dates that the San Antonio office, our sales representative, and the general contractor were tracking – several... No idea *how* they got these dates but that's what they had. When we finally got to San Antonio and were able to look at the home and get an inspection, we were told by our sales representative that the general contractor was going to go over the home with us on the following Monday. No communication before this – just sprang this task on us. We closed on the home the same week intended but were bounced around with the sales office and their title company. Since they didn’t expect us to close so “soon” (again the date we said from day 1) they didn’t have the title for the property ready to go. We had to wait a few days and then were pushed off to another title company. After we signed the paperwork the title company could not provide us the keys because Ryland had not confirmed they received our deposit. Come to find out with my husband AND the title company calling Ryland our sales representative gave us the “wrong” account for deposit. This was another hour long fiasco. You would think after closing everything would be fine. WRONG. There were still many “kinks” in the home that, in my opinion, should have been taken care when the home was used as a field model. I’m going into month five and getting anyone to communicate with us is ridiculous. I had to write a letter to their corporate office. The corporate office forwarded the letter back to the San Antonio office. We are not irrational people. We are a FLEXIBLE military family. Ryland, now CalAtlantic Homes, is exceptionally terrible when it comes to “inventory homes”. I do not recommend them if purchasing an “inventory home”. Also, this was not my first time buying a pre-built home so I understand the tasks required in the home buying process and with the home itself.

it went pretty well. We felt like we got great value and the quality of work was great. Project finished ahead of schedule.

We have been very pleased with the quality of construction. The follow up on issues has been prompt. We were exceptionally pleased with the sales person, the construction manager, and the administrative staff of Ryland who bent over backwards to accommodate our needs and requests. Overall I would recommend Ryland Homes to anyone.

Ryland Homes did a great job of building my home. There have not been any major issues with the house, although the angle of it lets all the morning sun in the windows. They did a great job, I was impressed. They did call to ask if anything needed to be repaired.

THE WORKERS DID AN EXCELLENT JOB INSTALLING THE NEW TILE FOR OUR NEW HOME. WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE FLOOR. BEFORE THE WORKERS LEFT, THEY MADE SURE TO CLEAN UP THEIR MESS.

THE BUILDERS DID AN EXCELLENT JOB BUILDING OUR DREAM HOUSE. WE HAVE YET TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE HOUSE. THE WALLS WERE PAINTED A BEAUTIFUL COLOR TO MATCH THE CARPET.

THE EXPERIENCE IN ONCE IN A LIFETIME. IT HAD ITS UPS AND DOWNS, PROBLEMS AFTER PROBLEMS, BUT IN THE END WE DO HAVE A HOME WE CAN BE PROUD OF. THE EXPERIENCE IS ONE THAT I WOULD WISH ON ANYONE BECAUSE IT DOES TAKE A LOT OF PATIENCE AND DEDICATION TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS BEING DONE RIGHT.
