Royal Window Fashions provided superb service! They responded immediately to replace two lost curtain hooks. Not only did they personally deliver the hooks to our home within two days of our request, but they brought two extras and rehung the draperies to make sure everything looked perfect! It was no surprise to us that they had maintained their excellent standard of customer service that we experienced almost a year ago when we originally purchased the drapes. When we purchased the drapes, they came to our home with a wide selection of fabrics and provided expert advice on the style of drapes and types of fabrics that would compliment our home. We highly recommend anyone looking for beautiful custom made draperies and superb customer service to use this company.

The salesman came out to the house the same day I called for an estimate. I went to his shop the next day to choose fabric and to place the order. I was told it would take about two weeks from the time they obtained the fabric (special order) until completion of the project. It took around 4 weeks fro them to complete the project. It also took about twice as long for them to obtain the fabric as I was originally quoted. The finished shades are beautiful. The price I paid for the fabric was very high; I didn't comparison shop, so don't know ifthey inflated the price too much or not.

Thank you for the review. I am so happy that you like your finished shades!! The specific color of fabric you picked was out of stock at the fabric mill. We did have to wait an additional two weeks for the material to arrive. The price was regular mark-up and not inflated. I just had to say that for others that may be reading this review. Thank you so much for saying that you would use our service again in the future and for taking the time to write a review. I look forward to working with you in the future!! Michael L. First of all, I joined Angie's List today for the sole purpose of writing this review. The initial deal was fine - took a week to get the quote back, but no problem. The handymen came over to install the outlets and slapped up conduit in the quickest/easiest way possible. It is the level of finish you would expect in a utility shed. The conduit ran up the wall and across the ceiling with swoops and swags. The handymen were nice enough, but only dealt in cash. After complaining to Jim's secretary, I received a call from the handyman that he wanted to come back and put up more clips to prevent the sagging. I didn't want them back, because I did not have the confidence in the first pass of the job to give them another chance. I didn't feel the way it was done could be improved upon enough. I also wanted to seek Jim's expertise to see what else could be done. He could not be reached and was not proactive to check in with me on what could be done. Jim states he emailed me at some point, and I'm sure he did, but didn't receive the email (typo on the address?). Perhaps an old fashioned phone call is sometimes the best way. The shade installation crew did a great job, however instantaneously recognized that I would require and quot;guide wiresand quot; to prevent the shades from being damaged in the wind. Turns out they were 100% right. I require guide wires because they flop around so much that I can't use them. The installation crew replied with a quote to add in guide wires for $382.20. I felt like this is the equivalent to ordering a new car and upon delivery, having to by wheels. Jim states he mentioned guide wires to me at some point during the sales consultation, but it was obviously a passing comment without emphasis. I'm sure I would have listened if he said I could not use my shades without them. After writing an email to Jim's secretary explaining the issues I'm having with the shades and the guide wires that would be needed, no returned email or phone call. I called him this morning to tell him that I'm not satisfied with the fit and finish of the installation, and five minutes into the call, he places me on hold. Must be too busy with new customers now that I have paid him. I called him back one hour later, and by that time I became angry and not open to give him a chance to make it right. Probably didn't matter though - I didn't get the impression for a second he would have made it right anyhow. Overall - the hardware is probably OK to buy from Jim, but my recommendation is to work with someone else to advise you on what you need and the best way to do it in terms of hardware and craftsmen and also have them communicate with the craftsmen on a proper installation. Let me know if you want pictures. I am currently trying to find someone who can help me make this right. In hindsight, I should have insisted Royal Window Fashions make this right, but like I indicated above, it didn't seem for a second on my follow-up phone call like customer satisfaction is a high priority.
Description of Work: Outdoor shades for my patio that were remote controlled and installation. There were three large shades, two 8' wide sections and one 12'. The installation required two new outlets and the installation of the shades themselves. I came to learn that Jim's company does not do electrical work, so he referred me to handymen he's used before who could do the job.

Response from Royal Window Fashions
ROYAL WINDOW FASHIONS 605 CULEBRA AVENUE SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS 78201 March 6, 2013 I, Jim Poole, company owner, went to the member's home on February 8th, 2013. I met with the member and went to his backyard patio. The backyard patio is high off the ground and overlooks a large “greenbelt” area. He asked that we cover the majority of the opening with large, motorized roller shades. All three shades were, by industry standards, quite large. I initially noted to the member that electricity would need to be run to the approximate locations for the shade motors to operate. I informed him that the electric could probably be taken from above the ceiling fan switch and then run to the necessary locations. I advised that providing the electricity was his responsibility. I did mention that Royal did not have an electrician on staff but offered to secure for his two bids. One bid was to be from a licensed electrician and the other was to be from a gentleman who could do the work but was not licensed. The licensed electrician’s price was $400.00 plus parts. The handyman’s price was $200.00 plus parts. I further advised him that the relationship with the electrician of his choosing was strictly his and that Royal was not endorsing either subcontractor. The member chose the less expensive subcontractor. Home Depot was out of the required number of brackets to secure the wiring completely however the subcontractor had an agreement with the member that since the member and not picked up the necessary paint to paint the conduit as promised, the subcontractor would return at his own expense and paint the conduit with the paint to be furnished and further stop by Home Depot and find the proper type and quantity of conduit brackets and then complete the work all at the same time. According to the subcontractor, this scenario, at the time, was acceptable to the member and he actually paid the sub in full and they both agreed to get together and complete things at a time convenient to him. Essentially the electrical work was well done and would have passed city code. However the sub wanted to fix everything aesthetically and he reneged on their promise. Royal Window Fashions installed the shades on Wednesday, the 27th of February. The member paid our installers completely as everything promised from Royal was completed properly. There was discussion between the member and the installers regarding the use of “guide wires.” Our installers recommended such use. He asked our installers to “get him a price” and on Friday the 1st of March our installer called him with a total price of $382.20 for going back out to his home and install said “guide-wires”. The member advised that he would consider the offer. I happened to be in the company office on Saturday morning, March 2nd. I was to see three (3) customers who wanted to purchase large orders of product. The 1st customer came into the office at 10:30 am, the 2nd customer came into the office at 11:00 am, and the 3rd customer arrived at 11:30 am. All 3 customers required attention to detail. All 3 customers required much time. I was the only person from the company in the shop to handle the customers. All customers were very friendly and helpful and we completed all business by 12:30 pm. During all of this on Saturday morning, the member had called to complain regarding the work of the electrician. Honestly, at the moment he called, I asked if I might call him back when I finished taking care of other customers. He hesitated but agreed. Since I had not called him back “soon enough” to suit him, he called back angrily just immediately after the 3rd customer had been taken care of and left the offices. I let him speak completely and until he was finished. He primarily spoke of 1) how badly the electrician did his job and 2) how I should have thrown in the “guide-wires” for free. He mentioned that he would not expect “to purchase a car without tires”. I reminded him that indeed I spoke of the benefit of “guide-wires” for his particular home. I priced them for him right then. He considered the price and declined. Actually, we might install “guide-wires” on 5% of the shades that we install on patios. So, his declining such was not startling. I also reminded him that I spoke to him about a decorative fascia to cover the tubes and motors of the shades. He declined that as well. Would he then assert that I sold him a car without a “rear view mirror?” Of course not. He received everything that he paid for. Regarding the electrician, I reminded him of my e-mail to him advising the gentleman was awaiting his call back as per their agreement so the he could finish up on the aesthetics of the job. Page 2. The member commented in this conversation that he had someone to complete the work for $700.00 and he was miffed about that. It is my opinion the member was not wanting to work with our company unless we agreed to install the “guide-wires” for free. We simply cannot do our work for free. He received expert work and advice from our company, unfortunately, he chose against it and then became angry. Working with us would have saved him $328.00 but it was more important that he communicate his anger and need to receive the work that he had originally declined, for free. I declined but told him that we would stand by our offer at any time. Royal Window Fashions wants all of its customers to be satisfied and happy. We are indeed the factory and are able to do installations that other companies simply cannot. We know enough to bring up items such as “guide-wires”. Perhaps his lack of knowledge in this regard was a mistake. However, we offered and continue to offer the better remedy. We will be happy to discuss this matter with anyone/ member wishing to comment. You may call @ 210-733-5444 and ask for Jim or you might e-mail @ jimpoole@royalwindowfashions.com. They are very reliable and very professional. It was done very quickly, even though I had them installed in three rooms. I would really recommend them to anybody who needs them, they look great. I paid exactly what I was quoted. The guy who came to install the blinds, who is the owner of the company, was absolutely wonderful and very nice.
Description of Work: They came out and measured my windows. I've just moved into my mom's house not too long ago. My sister and brother have used them as well, now I'm using them. They measured the windows and let me pick what blinds I wanted. I picked out what color I wanted. They hand make them. They were here within 2 weeks of when I ordered to install them. You pay half when you order them and half when they install.
