It went great. Karen came out a few times, always on time, and made great suggestions. The work was done quickly and looks great. I would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: Bushes that were too big for the area were removed, appropriate sized plants were planted. 2 trees trimmed. Installed small bed on side of garage and planted bush. Removed leaves from entire area. Removed weeds, installed weed barrier and replaced river rock on side of house.

Received a quote for over $2,000 that didn't even include the cost of the pavers I was to provide myself. Basically came out to $250/hr for 8 hours labor; not any labor skilled enough for $250 an hour. Feels a lot like they are price gouging on purpose or simply don't know enough about the work so they pad it for uncertainty.
Description of Work: Had a simple job to lay some pavers in an area that would've required 8 hours work max for a single person. About about 200 square feet.

so,so. Had to make most of the decisions and replant several bushes. They broke a sprinkler pipe and didn't fix it correctly. (although I told them it didn't look right) The pipe came apart a few months after they left.

They did a very good job and we're very pleased with their work. They were on-time, cleaned up after themselves, and did what they said they'd do. The crew that did the work were friendly, and professional. I would use their services again and recommend them to others.

The first time we used Rick at Your Service, he trimmed our Photinia hedge (between 14 to 17 feet high) to 12 feet. He did an excellent job and cleaned up every bit of the clippings. So we hired him again when we needed some landscaping done before putting our house on the market. This time he had his landscaping artist come and advise us on what needed to be done. They were able to finish it before the photographer came to take pictures for the realtor and did an excellent job again -- our house sold the day after it went on the market, and I firmly believe that the landscaping helped sell the house.

Paid $85 for a home sprinkler system inspection and repair bid. A week later bid was given to me over the phone and there were not any specifics. Labor 2-3 hours parts $50-$100.. Finally he wanted an answer then for the next day. Unprofessional and I did not approve him to do the work

We researched 6 companies and chose Rick because he appeared to have years of experience, good customer service, and decent price we could work with. in addition, he presented a great plan with timeline of approximately two weeks. This was perfect because we planned to invite family and friends over so we could celebrate our son's 2nd birthday. The weekend before Thanksgiving they cut down two trees, poured cement, and set posts for the deck. Although they managed to damage one of our crape myrtle trees, we were still impressed because so much was done in a small amount of time. After that weekend, our experience with Rick went sour because very little was accomplished for two weeks. Tools were everywhere and we had no signs of anyone doing work in our backyard. Rick and his right hand man, Thomas, were not answering phone calls. After many phone calls and several days a different (2nd) crew showed up and finally started working. This crew managed to cut some of the posts that were supposed to be used for rails. When we brought it up to Rick and Thomas a new (3rd) crew showed up a few days later to continue the job. The new crew took the deck apart and started the project over again because the second crew's work was done improperly. Our deck was on it's way to completion and the (3rd) crew didn't show up for a few days. Rick and Thomas were called again and we were informed that the 3rd crew already had started a new job. After a few days, I showed up from work to find a 4th crew working on our deck to finish the job. Our deck was finally finished days before Christmas. I do wish I could have hired someone else because I am still disappointed with the overall result of the deck and the time it took to complete it. Below is a list of other things I didn't appreciate from this company: 1. The tree stump from when they cut our tree down is still there. 2. I had to replace nails in some boards because the boards weren't secured to the frame. 3. Rick promised to replace our crape myrtle tree. As of May 2013 we still haven't received it. 4. Every crew left tools random boards with nails lying around. We cleaned up after them to prevent kids from getting hurt. 5. Didn't keep us informed very much. We had to keep calling ourselves to find out what was going on. We would never consider hiring Rick at Your Service again! He may have the best price, but the quality of work reflects that much lower cost.

They did a great job. He also threw in a repair of my neighbor's fence at no extra cost which was really good. The price was good and they did a lot of little side jobs which really helped. They were good to my dogs. I am going to use a landscape designer and then I am going to have him bid out the work.

We used them twice last year. We had a total front yard landscape redone. They put in beds and walkways. Then, they put in a fence. They were excellent because of their courtesy, professionalism, and higher level of skill. They were reasonably priced, very efficient, and very trustworthy.

Rick returns calls promptly, came and gave quote and upon agreement, was able to schedule work within days. His crew is respectful, professional, and worked as a team under their supervisor anticipating each others needs. RICKS AT YOUR SERVICE has various "divisions" and each has a leader who is a specialty. Rick personally shows up at the job site or is in phone contact with crews (very hands on in his management). I like that since I didn't feel abandoned. After two separate projects successfully completed I would recommend them to neighbors and friends (and have). The property is on a corner and the crew first put down safety cones for safety. I had concerns for damage to my roof and they were careful to address my issues. They cleaned up to perfection. The tree canopies look like they can breath AND I can finally use my fireplace for the first time since I moved here (couldn't because of encroaching limbs).
Description of Work: After a very successful Phase I landscape project, I asked for a quote for tree trimming of 4 "statement" trees. Bought the house 2 years ago and the huge trees had not really been trimmed for who knows how long. For our past 2 years of ownership I had called whatever companies and had "bandaid" trimming done on the trees. In hindsight, should have just called RICKS AT YOUR SERVICE and had the job done once....done right!

A very pleasant, professional project. I found this company as a vendor at the recent Home and Garden Show. Calls were made and returned in a timely manner, good communication. Price for services agreed upon and work commenced shortly thereafter. They asked for a reasonable deposit and balance upon completion. Materials were provided just as selected. They brought options to me for my selection (ie: color and style of pavers), rock samples. People stayed on the job until completion. Everyone was on the same page (I asked to be informed and they provided answers). Both Rick and many of their team are Bilingual so communication was not a factor. Staff very respectful ...no yelling or bad language amoungst them, nor loud music, etc. I feel that one can go to a big box company with a fancy store front if that is what one prefers (and pay accordingly) however for my project I had an idea of what I wanted and didn't require a storefront to accomplish the end results. Very satisfied and feel I received a satisfactory job at a fair price and amazing end result.
Description of Work: Angie's List did not have categories for all the work performed. Purchased a 25 yr old home that needed exterior landscape updating which I divided into 4 phases. Phase 1 (front of house/improve curb appeal):included: 1. removing all dead grass & replacing w/many native shrubs, grasses and crape myrtle tree. 2. removing spray irrigation and replacement with drip irrigation. Also replacing old irrigation timer w/new 3. New edging 4. expanded old small entryway with new expanded paver entry way with tier/step and walk. 4. Made a lovely dry riverbed w/native stone for drainage of gutter next to driveway. The $2,600. price did not included plant material or tree that was worked into the project only labor for planting. I was given two options: A) I could provide plants (and he even offered to pick up from suggested nursery) for one fee for planting labor or for an increased amount, B) he could provided complete service for additional cost for selection choice including plants, etc. I knew what I wanted and from where so I opted for "A." Cannot say enough about how professional both Rick and his employees are. Calls returned, questions answered, came when expected, services rendered were amazing, clean up at the end of each day and pristine presentation upon completion. With different divisions within the company, the people who provided the paver work (which also do stone and concrete) were meticulous and true artisans, irrigation person knew irrigation and took time to explain the new timer instead of just leaving a manual, planting done professionally mixing soil and confirming exact location that I wanted each plant (sorry type A personality). Again, I cannot say enough good comments about this service other than to say Phase 1 a complete success and am already discussing future Phase 2 project with them.

Description of Work: they came. we were here. they never asked how much money they were charging. They mowed only the back yard and charged 50 dollars. I could have had it done for 40 easily. On top ofd that I told Nick I wanted it cut down to the quick. The yard is all weeds and i just want it as short as possible. Well it looked k it needed mowing immediately after they mowed it. Totally unsatisfied and hope they get the negaTIVE RATING THEY DESERVE. tHE OWNER ACTUally told me it looked good and he would have to charge me another 100 dollars if he had to cut it again. I am not the kind of man who would EVER give a negative rating unless i felt like he would just do it to someone else. do not hire this man..

They were okay. I went through two others after them. The only reason that I stopped asking them to come back was that I asked the gentleman a question and he went through a story, ending that he can't give me his services for free. I am elderly, but I wasn't expecting anything for free. I just don't know much about landscaping and was asking his advice.

I placed a call to Rick and left a message. He called me promptly back and asked what services I needed. I explained that I wanted my front and back lawn mowed. He took my address and information. He came by and looked at the lawn, and texted the quote of $325 for the lawn for the first cut, and $60 thereafter. He also quoted $125 plus materials for gate repair, which I did not ask him for. I replied and stated that the price was too high for my range, and thanked him. He then replied back and asked me what was my range, and he would adjust. I did not reply to him after that, as I do not like to haggle prices. I would like to believe the price quoted to me is a fair price - not a high starting point.
Description of Work: Rick provided a quote for front and back lawn at $325 for first cut, and $60 thereafter. This was ridiculously high, so I declined. I bought a lawn mower and paid a young man $80 to mow. Still came out ahead.

Rick is professional and extremely reasonable. He came to my property the same day that I called him about an estimate. He went out of his way to earn my business. I am very impressed with his drive and services. I called several lawn care businesses for an estimate...some individuals didn't even want to make the drive to my area (I reside in the Stone Oak area.) I have used Rick a second time to cut my front lawn ($30) and am still very pleased. I will continue to use him. He is excellent and wants to work. He has certainly earned my business. I will use him on a regular basis for my lawn maintenance.

I had him do some stuff here in the yard and everything and I was really pleased with him. He is very reasonable. He knows what he is doing because it's a red oak and he put it in and he put all the things to keep it steady while it was growing. I only paid him a couple of hundred dollars. For cutting the yard and edging he charges about $45 to $50 and he does an excellent job. The weather had started getting so cold and I just didn't do anything. We've had some real cold weather down here in San Antonio. They have no snow removal stuff or nothing. He follows up with me, he calls, he is a very good person and he only has one other helper. He doesn't bring a lot of people out. He does real good work. The quality is excellent. The yard looked nice with what he did. He knows how to prune trees and he did some of that. He knows edges and stuffs too. He is very responsive and punctual. He always calls. He is very professional. He is knowledgeable of the different grasses, trees, shrubs and things. He knows what grows and what doesn't. I would use him again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of Rick The Lawn Man in the beginning of January. I had ordered a tree from a company, he picked it up for me and brought it over here and planted it. I also had him do a lot of shrub removal work and stuff. I had him put down some fertilizer and stuff. I had ordered a spray too. He did a lot of weeding around the house.
