As Published in the San Antonio Current: April 25, 2012: "Best of SA 2012, Best Nursery, Bryan Rindfuss, In business since 1976, Rainbow Gardens dwarfs other nurseries with two sprawling stores offering "10 acres of gardening heaven" between them. Designed to recreate the experience of strolling through a park, the serene Bandera location (the template for the Thousand Oaks outpost) takes botanical browsing to a higher plane with seemingly endless rows of annuals, perennials, fruit trees, grape vines, succulents, rose bushes, fountains, garden statues, you name it. While its snaking trails, butterfly gardens, and calming water-wheel-equipped koi pond (home to a mammoth albino catfish) offer moments of zen, a focus on xeriscape, water-saving, and native plants with encyclopedic signs throughout make Rainbow Gardens a place of enlightenment."

They have acres and acres of everything for the garden. When I'm looking for a native Texas plan, or an antique rose, or a hybrid plant, or garden decoration, or just information for growing things, I go to Rainbow Garden.
Description of Work: Rainbow Gardens has 2 huge nurseries in San Antonio. I use the one on Bandara.

Description of Work: I have shopped at Rainbow Gardens for years. They aren't the cheapest place in town but the quality and variety of their plants makes up for that. What good is a cheap plant that dies in a week? They are always knowledgeable and helpful if you are looking for something specific or just need advice on what to plant where. I have plants that I bought from them that are still going strong years later.

This was my fourth time replacing parts of my lawn with with drought resistant plants and grown cover. They provided expert advice each time.
Description of Work: They helped me pick out plants and mulch to xeroscape part of my lawn under the San Antonio Water System lawn replacement incentives.

The info they have provided improves my landscape with each visit to their store. I am looking forward to reworking our landscape because we lost some plantings due to our excessively bitterly cold winter for our area.
Description of Work: This is the best nursery ever! Staff is super knowledgeable and plants are in great condition. The Manager Kathy is a font of information and she always remembers you . Doing your plan in increments is not a problem. I have used them for over 20 years and get great service with a smile and warm greeting.

If Rainbow Gardens doesn't have what you're looking for they will find it for you.
Description of Work: I use Rainbow Gardens for all of my garden needs. A couple of weeks ago a vehicle ran through our yard and I replaced some plantings.

We can never go wrong at Rainbow Gardens. They have everything you need for a spectacular yard. We have tried to go to other nurseries and we always end up back at Rainbow. You just can not beat their selection and expertise.

This place truly is a nursery and great place to stroll and look at all the plants. However, one suggestion I might make is maybe have more employees out on the grounds to help answer, suggest and advise folks in making the right plant choices for their yards. surprising thought was their prices darn near matches the big lot stores like Lowe's and Home Depot.. bout pear, red tips, pomegrante trees, all were in great shape and doing very well now. Will definitely return.

My yard is beautiful. We all enjoy sitting outside enjoying the colors, textures and wildlife.
Description of Work: I was the worst gardener ever. I decided to change that a few years ago and was told to go to Rainbow Gardens. My yard and gardens are so pretty now that all parties are here. I have learned so much from them and they are so nice. I can walk in, explain the area I'm working with and explain the desired look They always have good advice on what will and won't work. I've never had to return a plant and all my plants are beautiful and drought tolerant. They have good prices also.

The staff is very knowledgeable about local bugs and plants. Every time I find something odd on my plants they always have the answer. They also are not opposed to natural methods of pest control. The nursery is beautiful to just walk around. Lots of the typical San Antonio plants and a few things I've never seen before. Even has lady bugs for purchase at the right times of year.
