I called Kevin on Thursday afternoon when we had a server crash at our office. On Monday he brought the server back and installed it at the office. We had no data loss. He was able to recover it all.

I had used the Company Guy about a year ago and Robert was the technician. that went very smooth so when my computer decided to be deathly silent i contacted him and he had Marcos come to the house. I really was impressed with Marcos. He is very confident in his work and managed to keep this grandma from wigging out as i needed to get the computer back up and running in order to shop for the Christmas gifts for out of State grandchildren. I definitely would have him back to address any future issues.

That experience went okay. They came and picked the computers and took them back to their shop. They got them back in a timely manner and they were cleaned out. We went with them basically on Angie’s List recommendation. I just got them or something on Angie’s List. The pricing was high, and the quality of the service was satisfactory.

My wife and I both use our computers to work extensively across the Internet, especially when it comes to banking and shopping. This work caused our computers to become infected with viruses, malware, spyware, and trojans. My wife believes her infections came from visits to a variety of shopping sites. My problems started with regular visits to Facebook. [NOTE: My association with Facebook has not been the best. Some years ago, again while accessing Facebook, my entire contact list was hijacked and all my friends began receiving emails ostensibly from me endorsing a variety of Scurrilous Chinese Websites. I had no control over this - it was all done without my knowledge. When I learned of the problem, I also contacted The Helpful Computer Guy and he got rid of the infestation for me. Doing this and changing my password solved my problems.] Our computers began to not react to our commands, Ads popped up arbitrarily, and some sites could not be erased at all without completely turning off the respective computer and restarting from scratch. Loading systems became and unending ordeal, and caused us much frustration. So I turned back to The Helpful Computer Guy. In the interim since the last time we had used his services, he apparently hired one or more assistants, and Robert Vela, his representative, came to my house. He took a look at our computers and knew immediately what was wrong. After a brief examination of each unit, he determined that the best option would be for him to take them with him and do a deep cleaning on each. Although he speculated on finishing from one day to the next, we encouraged him to be thorough and take all the time he needed. He called me later that day to advise that all our computers had been hijacked at one time or another and infected with tons of viruses, malware, spyware, and trojans, that my computer alone had over 2500 infections, and that the cleaning would likely take over the weekend.. We of course agreed. On Monday, 28 April 2014, Robert returned the units in clean condition and provided expert explanation of what had happened and how to proceed, what to avoid, etc. He reconnected them and ensured that they were operating properly. We were very, very happy with his services and would easily recommend him and the company to others needing help. This was an excellent example of highly skilled, professional work done by people who know what they are doing and what the public expects. The price was not out of the ordinary. The computers we received back are working as well as or better than when they were new. We are very, very satisfied with the work of the company and will use them again.

Last week, the scanner on the printer would not synchronize with the HP which was one of the problems with the MAC that I needed addressed. I phoned and left a message, and an employee named Robert returned my call. He logged on to my computer from his location but was unable to determine what was wrong. He could not come to my house and told me his co-worker would come on 9/20 early in the morning. No one came. I called Robert to inquire and Rueben the person who was to come, was not answering his phone. Robert and I agreed that he would contact Rueben and he would schedule Rueben to come to my home today. He was to notify me by email. I received no email from Robert, so I phoned him this morning. He told me that all the information had been sent to me by email, and he had a confirmation of delivery. I told him there was no email, and he insisted that there was. He could have relayed the contents of the alleged email to me while speaking with me, but instead told me I needed to check my Spam folder and other folders. I had already done that and told him so. He insisted that one had been sent. Rather than continue to argue with him about a non existent email, I just told him I would contact someone else for help. I believe that I purchased a term of service/maintenance, but I am not sure; however, I suspect this must be the case since he was able to access my machine remotely. Since I no longer intend to do business with this company, whomever I hire to effectuate any repairs will be tasked to remove any software that was loaded on the PC to permit remote access. If I did purchase a period of service/warranty, I would like at least a portion of my money returned. I never met the owner and our conversations transpired because he phoned me after I left a message. I would be surprised if the owner even knows about the poor service of his employees whom I suspect work on contract with referrals from him.

We were in need of a new computer.Our old one was 5 yrs old and giving us problems. Robert was initially called to come and fix it.But after taking a good look at it he suggest that our money would be better spent on a new computer.He told us he could fix the old one if that's what we wanted,but with it being old and the processor making strange noises he couldn't say how much long it would last.So we agreed to get a new one and asked Robert for his recommendation on what to buy We acted on his recommendation and could not be happier!.We called Robert to install the new computer when we got it.He was punctual, professional and very knowledgeable about computers.I highly recommend this company.They were a pleasure to do business with.

My experience with them was very good. He took the computer with him. He did say that he was going to fix it and bring it back the next day but he got tied down so it took a couple of days for me to get it back, which was okay. I had a very slow internet service but he was able to fix problems and free up some space for me so I was happy. He knew what he was doing. He does what he says he is going to do. He doesn't always return phone calls.

I was in communication every day with them as their associate was out with the flu and other matters. On the 17th or could of been the 18th, it was done by remote as well as updating all of my programs etc. Printer was confirmed as to ink problem which was just bought. I would recommend them to anyone, especially those of us not so computer savy. Good price for those over 60 and reasonable for under. It was great to be able to fix the problems by remote. They did not charge me because of the issues within the company which has been resolved. They stay in touch with you

He informed us it was probably too premature install Windows 8 and he said we would want to go back to Windows 7. He picked the new one up over night to work on it so we do not disrupt our work. He then contacted us on Friday that he was no longer able to revert it back on Windows 7 because we had updated to Windows 8. He then asked us if we had a recovery disc, but we did not. He then said he would need to contact the manufacturer and it could take 3-4 days to get the needed disc. I told him to bring the computer back so we could do work on it, but he said he would not have time until Monday. He then showed up at 11:30 that day to pick up my computer! He had time to pick up the old computer, but he did not have time to drop off the new one. He then sent us an invoice for ordering the recovery discs. He said the assistant authorized him to buy the discs, but we did not. He also had the audacity to charge $40 to come pick up the computer. I told him today that we will pay him for the disc if he would bring us the computer back so we can us it, be he now wants to trade the computer in the parking lot of a bank instead of at the office.

I was pleased with his knowledge about computers. We did it all over the phone. He gave me instructions over the phone and solved the problem with my computer. My overall experience with them was excellent.

I was getting franic when my PC keep locking up, the last time it happened I had a virus and a lot of Malware problems and had to lug the desk top to the local shop.I decided to follow Angies recommendation for the Helpful Computer Guys here in San Antonio. Called and booked a time that worked for both of us. From first contact to appointment being set was less than 12 hours..Dustin came to the house in presentable apprarel, not a tee shirt and jeans, with all his tools with him.After testing various software and looking at the history logs he determined that the problem was not a virus but a lack of RAM for the upgraded processor in my PC.Dustin ordered more RAM online and had the part sent to my home and showed me how to seat the additional RAM card so it would save me a return charge to install it.Total time on the job 2 hours.

I had him come and help with my computers because they has been hacked into. He came and tightened up the internet security with a firewall and he took the computers that had been hacked and wiped and reloaded all the software that was on them. What was really cool was that he took them and did it overnight! He had them all up and running by 9 o'clock the following morning. He had to set up all of our printers also that morning. He showed up on time and he was experienced enough to figure out what the problem was and then to give a quote that was adequate. Another good thing is that he makes house calls; you just have to call and make an appointment. I feel that he is someone that I can trust because I don't know anything about computers and I know he is telling us the truth. I wouldn't use anybody else at this point and I have used a lot of other computer people, but now he is the only one I will use in the future.

The Helpful Computer Guy is owned by Kevin Pate. I have used his company for three years as the IT/computer service provider at my small law firm and have been extremely pleased. While Kevin's customer base has grown from single in-home residential users to large scale dental offices, medium sized law offices and the IT provider for a local national food chain restaurant, The Helpful Computer Guy remans just that. Kevin Pate himself or one of his techs shows up at my law office or house on time, every time. Physical appearance is clean cut and modern. Dress is always professional with slacks and a embroidered logo shirt - none of this faded Star Wars t-shirt and flip-flops garbage - so I'm not ashamed to have him in the office during business hours. He even stopped by the hospital when my daughter was born two years ago - so I guess that speaks to being personable. I also really appreciate that The Helpful Computer Guy will come to my home or office with a single phone call, so I don't have to lug my machine across town for repair or maintenance. Kevin communicates what needs to be done, what he is doing and what the cost will be in non-technical, regular speak - but he does talk fast because he stays busy, busy! Prices are especially fair and clearly set out on his invoice - my bookkeeper (wife) likes that. He is honest and will tell you if it's time to just get a new computer instead of having him fix an old one. I trust Kevin implicitly with all my computer needs and I highly recommend you give him a try.
