Pool Service Plus

I called John late in the afternoon and communicated the symptoms of the problem I was having with the booster pump. He agreed that the problem could be the starting capacitor. He mentioned that he was close by and that he could drop by in a couple hours as he did not think it would take him long to repair. John called me very soon afterwards and told me he was on his way. John arrived shortly after his call. He inspected the pump motor and replaced the capacitor. The cost was very reasonable. I will use Pool Service Plus in the future.

I called John early Monday and he was able to immediately swing by my house for a quick diagnosis on the way to another job. He said he would order the part and would install it at the end of the week when it arrived. After he left, he was able to find it locally and installed it Tuesday morning. Talk about great service!

I came home to find my pool pump dead, the off- timing switch pin on the main pump motor was dangling and the Polaris pump was still running with water dripping from the booster pump. I shut off all the pumps, and since I had not been entirely happy with the work done by the previous company, which I had used for a few years, I went to Angie's list to shop for a new pool repair service. I read the reviews and chose Pool Service Plus. I was impressed that this company was bonded, insured, had licenses for the trade, and of the many positive comments from other members. (The company I had used before had no such credentials and not many positives. I had originally hired this pool company as my neighbor had used them...this was pre- Angie's List ) John quickly came out and diagnosed the problem as a burned out propeller and suggested that I put in a ball valve on the fittings so that the water from the pool would no longer be a problem while work was being done at the pump site. I believe I have a new pool repair company!

I love it when a contractor appreciates that you are scheduling your time around his visit and calls to let you know where he/she is at in their day. John identified the problem quickly and finished the repairs in a timely manner. We will use him again in the future.

This visit cost me not a cent, yet I was given valuable advice on pool maintenance. Now, these guys have been here a couple of times, and each time they discussed/explained multiple courses of action without pressure. Honest folk.

I have met very few small business owners who have been more responsive, helpful, patient and knowledgeable than John. We've owned pools in three different states over the years and this is the best company yet. I would recommend him to anyone needing an honest, knowledgeable and professional pool service.

John did an excellent job! He is detailed oriented and took the time to explain each step in the process. His work is exceptional and I recommend him without hesitation.

John Fisher arrived within the 2 hour window that he quoted. He called ahead as promised. When he arrived, he talked with me at length about the current problem and how to avoid it in the future. He spent the better part of an hour teaching me how to maintain the balance of the pool. I felt that he really cared about my pool problems and was ready to answer fully all of my questions. He demonstrated a thorough understanding of pool maintenance and helped me immensely. He fixed a pump problem on the spot without charge. After fully explaining what needed to be done to correct the current problem, he gave me the option of doing it myself or letting him treat it. I opted to have him treat it. The cost was very reasonable considering the time he spent with me.

John's family-owned business is first-rate. I found him through Angies List when I discovered a leak in my pool's auxiliary pump. I called him and described the system and leak over the phone. He told me what he thought it was, and how long it would probably take to replace. We agreed he'd come first thing the next day. He was there on time, and I stayed with him while he disassembled the booster pump and replaced a bad seal. He had all the parts on hand. I took advantage to ask him all sorts of questions about the pool setup and maintenance and he gladly answered all of them. His fee was quite reasonable. I will use Pool Service Plus exclusively from now on.

I got them from Angie's List. They are awesome. It was reasonably priced. He is always very prompt, and he does the job quickly and very well. He is a good person to deal with. I was just going to call him again.

Called John the day before and he made appointment to meet the next morning. He was prompt, knew the operation of the pool immediately and quickly diagnosed the problem and found a solution. His rate was reasonable and he is a really nice guy who knows his stuff. Very professional and friendly. He is a great resource

We began experiencing pump problems back in December 2012. The pump was not priming all the time and there seemed to be a lot of air being returned back to the pool. We used another pool repair company and was told that there was nothing wrong with the pump or line per say but that we should consider replacing some valves before summer. Since then, we have had to manually prime the pump a few times a week until finally it stopped pumping. Instead of calling back the pool repair shop we used in December, we checked Angie's List to see if there were some other well regarded pool repair professionals in the area that would give us an objective assessment of the problem. After reading the great reviews about John and Pool Service Plus - we reached out to him. There are three things I really appreciated about this experience: 1. I never met John but my wife did. My interactions with John were via email and voice messages. I liked that I was able to share information with him and not feel like I needed to be there to ensure unnecessary work was being performed. My wife had nothing but great things to say about John's professionalism and courtesy. 2. I was kept in the loop regarding troubleshooting and next steps to get the problem resolved. 3. The overall cost of the service was lower then I expected. We are new to Texas and first time pool owners. We have been surprised at how much pool repair and equipment costs. To be honest, we were expecting to be told our pump was shot. We are grateful that the problem was far less severe. I look forward to using Pool Service Plus again and hopefully meeting John some day!

Very disappointed in this gentleman. Started out well, initial repairs done. We were ready to have more extensive repair work started (retile pool, patch exposed rebar, etc.). We could never get him to get back to us with an estimate. Several calls were made and we were always told either he would get back to us or his email was not working on his phone. We finally gave up. Considering the other reviews noted here, we had expected more professionalism and had high hopes of utilizing his services. Very disappointing.

John was outstanding! He quickly diagnosed my pool concerns. Quoted me a fair priced and made all of the repairs the following day. He's truly a subject matter expert that has built a solid reputation on outstanding work and customer service. Without reservations, I give him my highest recommendation should you need someone to make repairs to your pool equipment or pool. Look no further!

Responded promptly, did work promptly, replaced a part rather than the whole pump, thankfully. Gave some helpful advice.

I called John to inquire about pool service repair work. He is extremely pleasant and professional on the phone. He came out the same day to give me an estimate. John replaced a pool pump motor, seals, and o-rings. In addition, he replaced a Polaris pump volute and o-ring. I was quite surprised that John took the time to clean out the leaves in my pool that had accumulated while my pool equipment had been turned off which was totally unexpected. Also, he plans to come out in a few days to make sure that everything is working properly. I will absolutely recommend him to anyone that needs pool service.

I called this company because of its great Angie's list reviews. I spoke with John about coming out to my newly purchased home for a pool school appointment as I've never owned a pool before. I had booked an appointment with Gary Pools earlier in the day but was not happy with the customer service I received over the phone. John with Pool Service Plus was just great on the phone and quoted a much more reasonable price for a pool school appt in my opinion. He made an appointment for the same day! He took his time showing me my pool equipment and how to use it. He was just very patient and knowledgeable. I ended up asking to use his company to service my pool on a monthly basis. He didn't attempt to push this service on me, but after meeting him I was very comfortable and really wanted his company to service my pool full time. He didn't even charge me for the pool school appointment because I elected to use his service and he even serviced and cleaned my pool the same day! Just great. He is also putting together an estimate to replace my pool heater and repair some rust staining in the pool.

They were very prompt. They made a bid and it turned out that it required a different kind of work and a lot more time; however, they honored the bid. They thought they would have it done in 2 days but they found out they had to grind the fiberglass that was installed previously. We had it refinished it a few years ago and we had them put in fiberglass. We had a lifetime warranty on it but the guy who did it went out of business. So, it started flaking out and it was problematic for us. It turned out being 4 days of men grinding the fiberglass. They fixed and refinished it; they also installed new coping and new lights. If I had a question about anything, I would call John Fisher and he would take care of it.

During Pool Services last three visits to my home, I covertly watched the technician from time of his arrival to time of his departure. Not one time during those three visits did the technician brush my pool or check the water chemistry - tasks that he told me would be done on a weekly basis. When I called the tech/owner to tell him I had watched him during his three visits and asked him why he had failed to do the tasks I was paying him for, he became defensive and told me that all I had to do was walk out and look at the pool and I could tell that he was taking care of it. I reiterated that I had watched him during his complete time here for the past three weeks and that he had done little more than empty my skimmer baskets and pick a few acorns out of my pool. In regard to his not checking the water chemistry during his three visits, I told him that I had checked the water chemistry the morning after he had last"serviced" my pool and found both the chlorine and alkalinity readings to be too high. He told me that my readings were wrong and again stated that he had checked the chemicals and that my pool was fine. I again told him that I had watched him from the time of his arrival until he depart and that I did not see him check the water chemistry. After he again claimed that I was wrong and that he had done so, I informed him his services were no longer required.

I can't say enough about John Fisher's service. He was professional, prompt, friendly. He was also very complimetary of us trying to troubleshoot the problem also. He found the problem quickly, showed us the bad valve, and had it repaired in less than half an hour. I asked him for a couple of his business cards to give them to family and friends who want an honest to goodness pool service man. I give him an A+!

I had Pool Service Plus come out to look at the pool of a house we were buying. John showed up on time and was very thorough with his inspection. Based on his estimate, the sellers adjusted their asking priced to cover the cost of the work. After closing on the house, we set a date for John's team to start working on the pool. They showed up on time and began working. John contacted me everyday to update me on the status. The job took several days but when it was done, the pool looked brand new. After completion, John installed the Polaris. Once we started running the Polaris, we discovered there was a major leak because the water level was going down rapidly. John gave me the number of a leak specialist he works with and he determined the leak was in the existing Polaris line which had been installed years before. At that point, John turned me over to the plumber. Although his job was complete, John cared enough to help me get the issue fixed. Any future work on my pool will be done by these guys.

Absolutely outstanding service! Very friendly small business run by John who gives you frank and practical tips and understanding of your system. After purchasing a new home (and we have never owned a pool before), John serviced and more importantly introduced us to our system -- how to use it, clean it, what to watch for, where to go for supplies, everything! He conducted a thorough cleaning of all our system components (so we saw the right way to do it) and he even assessed and made minor repairs to our Polaris 360 that was previously not functioning at its potential. He was here a bit over an hour and -- for all of that -- charged $45. My guess is we will need some professional assistance down the road and for scheduled maintenance - we're going to call Pool Service Plus without a doubt.

I cannot say enough about John and Pool Service Plus. He is a consummate professional: extremely knowledgeable, punctual, willing to solve problems. He is very up front about what kinds of things you can do yourself to save some money, and how he and his services can best fit your needs. I absolutely recommend him and will call on him again.

Timely, knowledgable, professional, and FAIR!!! This might be one of my best finds as far as repair services. While I rated every category an "A" I would have rate even higher if it was possible. John Fischer has the best customer service style I have seen combined with timeliness, professionalism, and fair prices. All of these combined makes him the "gol standard" for service. Not just pool service but any service that I have needed for my home!
