The movers that showed up were great. However, the owner and person doing the scheduling was very difficult to work with. I called him at the only number for his company, which is his cell phone. He booked me for a certain date, as it was "wide open". On that day, he called and had to reschedule because he had a higher priority job come up that had press people involved. Then, when they did finally show up, they went to my house instead of the house where they were to pick up the piano. The owner hadn't given his team the correct address. They were also over 1.5 h ours late, as they were held up on another job. The actual movers were polite and friendly, but the owner/scheduler was less than stellar. I would probably find a different mover in the future.

Mr. Price was nice on the phone and was able to do a last minute job. He was also willing to show up when the delivery truck arrived which he did do. -Once he arrived however he was very rude, not so much as saying hello. -He was suppose to have a pallet jack but did not bring one. -The semi delivering had to park on the main road, Mr. Price drove into oncoming traffic so he did not have to circle around the median. -He and his partner scooted and tipped over this crate that was to heavy (apx.350 pounds) for them to lift. I let him know that it was not to be tipped over that the items in the crate could be damaged by this. Then it was put into the bed of his truck. So much for hiring someone who would handle these items with care. -When they drove to a door they thought they could fit the crate through they moved the crate from the bed of the truck to the parking lot. At 350 pounds that did not go well and again was tipped over and hit the ground with some force. -They then put it on a roller so the trip from there to the storage unit went fine. -When at the unit they slid it off the roller and tipped it once again. -After being paid he did say he hoped he had not been to rude, he just like to get to it. They were extremely rude. They were not careful at all. I would never recommend them to anyone! I would have ask them to leave and not finish the job had I had any option. Unfortunately the art was delivered in a temperature control truck, and needed to be in the temperature control storage unit, so I would not have been able to wait for someone else to come move it.
Description of Work: Removed a crate, with fragile expensive art pieces, from a truck and put into a storage unit.

Purchased piano in pristine condition on 1/25/2013. Movers brought piano on afternoon of 1/26 - they were in the house less than 5 minutes; they left no paperwork. As we examined the piano, we noticed a large crack in left leg of piano. Called seller and verified that piano left his place in perfect condition. (Seller's location was 6.34 miles from our home.) Seller offered to call owner of company, but since it was Saturday, told me he would call on Monday (1/28/2013). Seller called me Monday a.m. and stated that owner of company wanted me to email pictures of damage, which I did. I did NOT receive any communication from the owner of the company that morning. That afternoon, two men showed up with a truck and stated they were there to remove leg of piano to have it glued. Advised them that I would not accept a glue job - did not buy a piano with repaired break and I wanted leg replaced. They refused. Asked for owner's phone number and called him. He stated that he dd not believe that his movers had broken the leg and I was just trying to get a free repair. Verified that his business was licensed, bonded and insured. He then stated that he would not involve his insurance for me and that he had told me what he was willing to do and I could take it or leave it, he didn't care which. I then advised him that I was canceling the sale and to return the piano to the seller. The two movers then pulled the piano away from the wall without lifting it to take pressure off the crack and put it on a dolly. We offered to move our car so they could take the piano down the driveway and they refused. They took the piano over the lawn and it slipped partially off the dolly and almost fell over.
Description of Work: Bought used piano from my piano instructor. Moving the piano to my home was included in the sale price of the piano. My piano instructor contacted Piano Handlers to move my piano.

I contacted about three different piano movers from Angie's List. One did not return my call. The other could not move on the designated day due to other commitments. But, I got hold of David Price from the Piano Handlers on first call. He quoted a fair price and was available on the day I needed for the move. In my phone conversations with David, I found him to be personable and courteous. On the day of the move, the movers, Bernie and Fred, were running about 20 minutes behind schedule. Being that the move was scheduled for early morning (8am), I expected them to be more punctual, especially since I assured the seller they would be at her house at the stated time after confirming the date and time a day prior with David. However, the move itself, went well. The movers arrived at the seller's house at or near 8:20, and the seller reported that the movers were "fast and friendly." When they arrived at my house, they handled the heavy piano with utmost care and made sure I was completely satisfied with its location before leaving, i.e., they didn't rush out the door as soon as the delivery was completed. And, Fred and Bernie were very pleasant and courteous to work with. The Piano Handlers would have received an across-the-board "excellent" rating but for the fact that they were late for the pick-up. That being said, I would recommend this company to anyone. They are competitve in pricing and their expertise in moving pianos with care and professionalism really shows.
Description of Work: We bought a used upright piano, and we needed a moving company to move the instrument from one single-level house to another within city limits.

I've used these guys twice to move an 800lb upright piano and they've been fantastic. Of the movers themselves, I had Greg both times and he always made sure everything was just so before moving the piece, and also made sure it was in exactly the right location before leaving. My piano is missing the wheels in the back, so it sits on a board, which made some of the moving very complicated, and Greg and his partners (different one each time) did wonderful in making sure the piano was seated correctly on the board, so as not to damage it. David himself prefers to do his arrangements mostly by text, which I find somewhat unprofessional, but his men arrived when they said they would, ready to take care of the piano. Everyone was very friendly and good-spirited.
Description of Work: First move:Piano from one house to another across town. First house had a step down off the front porch to take the piano. Second house had five wide, gradual steps leading up to the back door (front door not possible, too sharp of an angle). Second move:From one area of the house to another (no stairs).

I am a piano technician and rebuilder in San Antonio, and David is the only person I ever recommend for piano moving. He is not the most professional or the most courteous person that you'll ever meet, but he takes VERY good care of pianos. David Price has moved literally dozens of pianos for me, including 9' concert grands, and I have always been pleased with his work. I have found everyone on his staff to be knowledgeable, well-trained, and very cautious. A piano mover's most important skills are knowing how pianos come apart and go together, where they're susceptible to damage, and how to prevent that damage. He may not have the best manners or time-management skills, but he knows pianos and is conscientious in his work.
Description of Work: I have trusted David many times to move pianos to and from my workshop.

We were concerned about his seemingly lack of concern for his handling of our piano, as it was brand new & unblemished. His arrogant (borderline rude) personality and comments left us uneasy but he convinced us that "I don't damage pianos....and I know what I am doing." Since he was recommended by the Steinway gallery in SA we decided to take a chance. Big mistake on our part. Two months later he brought our blanket wrapped piano to our dealership and removed the covering to reveal several large scratches, dents & strap marks on our piano. The bench was so badly damaged we both agreed that this couldn't have been our bench and that he must have pulled the wrong one from the warehouse by mistake. After several weeks of calling to him we finally got through to him only to have him tell us that the damaged bench was in-fact ours. His initial arrogance and rudeness only incensed us more and since the piano and bench were a black matte finish (not the usual high gloss), we were concerned with his ability to fix the damages. We asked for a replacement bench. He agreed to look into a replacement. Once he found out what a replacement bench cost, he backed away from replacement and chose to try and repair the damages. We never allowed him to repair the bench because his repairs to the (much less damaged) piano were unacceptably bad. I would stay away from this provider at all costs. We notified Steinway about our problems and there response was "that our situation was not typical". David Price has no business handling fine furniture or equipment. If you don't care about the condition of your piano upon it's return and are willing to do business with someone that will not correct their problems, then "Good Luck".
Description of Work: David arrived at our home in Corpus to pick up our piano and bench for transportation to San Antonio and subsequent temporary (2-3 months) storage.
