The job was superb. I have worked with dozens of contractors in the South Texas area in the last 5 years and Richard and his crew are at the top of a very short list.

He did a great job. On time.efficient and less than the initial estimate by a third.

We are working long distance with Mr. Perkins. I live in Washington, the house is located in San Antonio. He worked with the tenants in the home. They have not complained about any of the work he performed. Therefore, I assume everything went well.

Overall, Rick was very professional and responsive. He has attention to detail and made sure that I was satisified. While he is hourly, he is a fast worker and very HONEST. I had asked for a quote about sealing grout and he said it's much cheaper for me to do it and told the best product to use. It's not often you run into this kind of honesty anymore.

I sent him a list with some small items I wanted done around my house and I told him my general location. I said he you are interested please reply. He sent me a note back and he said he is interested but he was going on vacation the following week and he would be in touch the week he got back from vacation and I never heard from him again. I wouldn't use him again because I didn't get reliability. He told me he was going to do something and he didn't do it.

A couple of conversations and then he never returned my call to do the job

Rick truely went above and beyond. I had a very odd schedule and he worked around that for me. He was here everyday and did a fantastic job. He helped me pick out paint colors and did a great job with interior painting...actually with everything, I can't complain at all. To top it off he is VERY trustworthy - I left him at the house alone many times and often was not here when he arrived to work. Rick is also very likeable and easy to be around. Rick stuck with the original price that he quoted even though I know he did far more than expected. I will definitly be calling him again.

The owner, Richard, and his assistant, Russell, showed up and gave an estimate of work to be done. TWO coats of paint were to be HAND BRUSHED OR ROLLED on, as opposed to spray painting. The job was to be completed in 2 days (the number of days that I had off work.) On the day that work began, Russell showed up with his cousin, and informed me that he would be taking over the job. When I asked for clarification, Russell told me that he and the owner "work together," on their jobs, but that he would take this job, and Richard was never again involved in the work at my house. While his cousin slowly painted our house by himself, Russell kept finding a way to chat with my son and me. My son and I moved to another room, then finally outside, so that we would not distract him from his work, but Russell kept following us and chatting. At the end of two days, the work was only 1/3 complete. Since I had to go to work the next day and work was being done both inside and outside the house, my son inconvenienced his work life to stay at my house another day. The job was finally completed at the end of day 3, but there was over-spray on the roof shingles in several areas, indicating that the paint was not brushed/rolled on, as agreed to; and several areas were missed, or old paint was bleeding through. I don't believe that we got the 2 coats of paint that we paid for and agreed to. In addition, one of the walls that was textured was in the room where we have a pool table. Russell did not bring any drape to protect the pool table, so I asked him to wait a minute before starting the project in that room, so that I could get an old sheet or something to protect our nice, expensive pool table cover. He told me not to worry about it; that nothing would get on the pool table. I asked him if he was sure, because I would not want any splatters on the pool table. He assured me that nothing would get on it - it would be fine. At the end of the third day, when they finally "finished" the project, my son saw textured material splattered all over the nice pool table cover, and pointed it out to Russell, saying, "My mom is not going to be too happy about that." According to my son, Russell left without doing anything about it. My husband and I were upset when we saw the sloppy paint job, old paint bleeding through new paint, several missed areas, and splatter on the pool table cover, that we were unable to remove, and considering that progress was extremely slow for 2 days, then rushed through, one day behind the promised completion date. I called numerous times to have him come back and clean off the splatter, but Russell rarely returned my calls. After numerous calls to Russell and three trips out to our house to cover the missed areas of paint, we finally had a fair job of exterior painting, but I still do not believe we got two coats of paint, even though we were charged for an additional 2 gallons, above and beyond what our contract stated. With no resolve or returned calls from Russell regarding the pool table cover, I finally called Richard, the owner. PLEASE NOTE: Upon hearing our story, Richard was VERY apologetic. He came out to view the situation and offered to replace our pool table cover. Richard also informed me that Russell was no longer working for him. Richard, the owner, was always polite, professional, courteous, and returned my calls promptly. I would definitely call him again, but I would never again do business with Russell. If the owner, Richard, had been the only one involved in our experience, we would have given him A+ ratings. According to Richard, he valued his business and customer care enough to make positive changes, and it is our understanding that Russell no longer works for him. With that information, we would call Richard again. UPDATE: The employee that did the work on my house in no longer associated with this company in any way. The owner of this company, Richard, values quality work, is very professional, and very attentive. I would highly recommend Richard and the Old Fashioned Handyman.

Mr. Perkis does a nice job and is very responsible. I have also had him clean and re -stain our deck. He has put in shelves and painted our garage floor, replaced faucet handles and an exterior door lock for us in the past.

Contacted Rick and he came that evening for an estimate. We liked the estimate and Rick's professionalism so we went ahead and scheduled a service date. They were punctual and very professional. The quality of the work was fantastic. True to his word for the cost. Great experience and definitely plan to use again in the future for other home projects.

Scheduling was an issue but understandable. We had some scheduling conflicts but afterwards we finally connected for the work to be done. In the end work was satisfactorily done.

My experience was "CRACKER JACK" - older members may remember that saying, and, can relate to that, for the younger members, this gentleman was extremely knowledgeable, methodical, professional, clean, on time, and, done in record time This fine Gentleman will be back in my home, as soon as his schedule opens up, to start work on several other, much larger, projects. Been around , and, behind the barn more times than I care to count. Finally a HANDYMAN has come along that is truly a gentleman, THAT KNOWS HIS BUSINESS ... HE IS FAR MORE THAN just a HANDYMAN. Very Skilled....HE WILL NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU,

We had a washer and dryer and separate pedestals delivered to our house from two different suppliers. We called Richard on Monday. Richard called on Tuesday to say he would be at my house. It was pouring down rain. He was there when I arrived. He put the pedestals on the washer and dryer and hooked them up. He made sure everything was working before he left. I will call him again. P.S. He explained the previous review to me. She should call him back.

My neighbor had her front and back door sealed, by this fellow's brother-in- law. Great job. So I called him and he recommended Mr. Perkis because he was very busy. Mr. Perkis arrived with materials, provided labor and charged $186.00..I noticed a few days later that light and air was coming thru the seals...I called him and stated that the doors were NOT sealed. He said he would "look around for better materials" AND I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN.

Rick was professional, prompt, pleasant and "aimed to please". His work was as he said it would be. He researched sod prices online and arranged for delivery of the freshest and reasonably priced sod.

He is responsive and does a decent job. He works to please. He was pleasant to work with. He showed up on time when he said he would. I would use him again.

It went well. Rick responded to my initial phone call the same day. He came out to give me an estimate in a timely manner. He was very good about explaining what needed to be done and answering my questions. He is friendly and professional.

My husband had been working on it all day and could not get it to work. He threatened to throw the tree out. We called and he was here within the hour. I have a nine foot Christmas tree and the middle lights were out. He started working on it and an hour into he got it to work. He spent a total of and hour and a 1/2 and did not charge me. He went more than the extra mile.

We contacted him by email and they responded promptly that he could give us an estimate. He estimated and charged us $4700 for all materials and labor. He completed the job in 5 days. All work was done as promised. We paid an initial down payment of $1000 and paid the balance upon completion. He did a very good professional outstanding job, we recommend him to everyone.

Richard was always consciencious and punctual, calling when he said he would and keeping me informed on his schedule and very courteous of mine. He was flexible with my busy schedule and completed the work in a timely manner. He was always careful to clean up and provided very professional and neat work/service. I was very happy with him and will definitely recommend him and call again when I need work done.

Very through and meticulous. Finished within the time frame he gave me and that was good.

Rick was very prompt in calling me and coming to give me estimates for each job. He was able to start the next week. He is very clean and always leaves things cleaned up before he leaves for the day. He always calls if or some reason he can't come at a specified time or needs to change anything. He is a very pleasant person and will listen to what you have to say about the jobs. He also offers suggestions if needed.

Rick was very careful to protect the surfaces which were not to be painted. Everyday when he left he cleaned up the debris, and put my things back which had to be moved to get to the surfaces that needed painting. He was very considerate of my belongings and kept my little fur-persons corralled by making sure the gates were closed when they were outside.
