Bob returned my phone calls within a few minutes. He was genuinely concerned about the rain leaking into my house and responded quickly. Although it was a fairly small job, he treated me with respect and I felt like he truly wanted my business. Another company I called said I would not likely find a reputable company willing to do simple repairs--they want big dollar jobs. I am thankful for Bob and his son-in-law for doing a great job on the repair. I will definitely call on them for my future masonry needs.

It went exceedingly well. Bob was more than accommodating with the time frame and getting the work done quickly and professionally. He arrived with his crew the first day and explained all that was to be done. Throughout the procedure, he came back to ensure all was going well. If he was unable to make it back to the job, he called just to touch base and make sure I was happy with the work. For the two days it took to lay the flagstone, his crew showed up on time and worked diligently. They were courteous and took care to clean up the area at the end of each day as well. I would highly recommend Masonry Arts to anyone needing masonry work, as I found them reliable and professional -- and their rates were extremely fair.
Description of Work: The main job was to lay flagstone in two locations in my back yard. In addition, he did patch work around the outside of the house, and around flower beds, where concrete was cracking.

Outstanding experience and excellent work by Bob and his team. He came out the day after I first contacted him and walked around the house and gave me an estimate. He came back the next week with a team of three workers led by his stepson. They were on time and very conscientious. They covered the surfaces and cracks and blended them so well you can't tell where the work was done...great workmanship. They also found additional areas that needed to be fixed and they did it at no extra charge. I would definitely hire these guys again.

Mr. Abel came by the house to give an estimate. He worked around my schedule, and was on time. He was also exceptionally friendly, and took his time to make recommendations and talk about what would be done. I never felt rushed or like my job was unimportant. His bid was half as much as a competing one, and once the job was completed, you cannot tell there was ever a problem. The grout color and quality is an excellent match, and the work area was thoroughly cleaned of any debris. I am very satisfied with the work done.

Mr. Abel was great from the start to finish. Mailbox was hit by a car. After contact Mr. Abel scheduled a time to come out and take a look for the estimate. After arriving, he took measurements and looked at the stone that we had. He stated that he would try to get a close as possible on the stone color...He did exactly that!!!! His crew came out and built the mailbox like it was part of the house from the original build (New Custom Home). The crew even covered the mailbox with cover because we were expecting rain. Mr. Abel came by later the day to inspect the work and ensured that we were happy. We were totally happy!!! I will be hiring Mr. Abel for all upcoming masonry projects. Thank you for the outstanding service and professionalism of your crew!!!

Bob Able (Owner) was great and the stucco guys knocked it out in no time and it looks fantastic. As a side job, I had some cracks repaired in my pool deck and the mortar that they used matches perfectly. There were some issues with the painters towards the end which I think was just a translation problem. I was glad that I came home from work around noon on the last day to point out areas that needed further attention. The job went quick, they cleaned up after themselves every day after they were through, and the paint looks great. They did a really great job and I'm really picky when it comes to details. I would definitely hire them again.

I called them for an estimate for some crumbling concrete on my foundation slab (cosmetic only, nothing structural). Bob came the next day to give me an estimate. After looking at it, he said that he wanted to look over the whole house to make sure there wasn't any other problems, since he'd have to charge me the minimum price anyway. (At this point, I feared I'd made a mistake and that the minimum would be $$$$, but I digress.) We did a lap around the house and he pointed out issues like cracks in the driveway and holes/cracks in the brick mortar. He quoted me a price for the whole thing as less than $200! His crew came out the very next afternoon (less then 48 hours after I called him) and did the work in a very expeditious fashion. The masonry work was very well matched for color and texture - if I didn't see the defects the night before, I wouldn't know they were fixed. I would definitely hire them again for my future masonry needs.

They did a fairly good job, he was dressed very filthy, that's the one thing that I do remember. He was not dressed businesslike, so he would come to the room, and after he left the room smelt. It was the personal hygiene that was not very good, and then the work was OK, but when I asked him to come back , they were little issues. He never did. He always was very busy

LOL. Amazing what the memory does when doing a tel. interview 6 months after the project. I don't think my workers entered a room. Therefore if referring to myself, FYI: I do not, & never have worn wear "filthy clothes" (even though am a mason). I shower every day regardless if working, as per this job, in August in Texas 101 degree heat. I am further sorry I accepted this delicate job, of which, I did not do the project for the money, but only to help. We came back to apply more mortar to tweak out the backside of the wall & did try to explain on the phone, a condition that we had already discussed & that was inherent to the limited slope of the terrain & existing under-engineered wall that we had to match.

Bob was a pleasure to deal with. He met me on my schedule and provided a very fair bid on the work to be completed. He was able to have Javier start and finish the job the very next day. The work done was outstanding. Javier is a master at his craft and the repairs were done so well that I couldn't tell where some of the work had taken place. I would highly recommend Masonry Arts to anyone needing masonry work. They are fairly priced and do excellent work. I am very happy I was referred to them. In the futuure I will use them again for a larger project.

The work was outstanding!!! I cannot say enough good about the quality of the work. Bob was very professional and easy to work with. His craftsman who did the work was equally professional and friendly. And, on top of it, the job did not take as long as expected so the cost was lower than he had estimated. They are top notch in my book and I would use them again at any time.
Description of Work: We live in Helotes and due to the hills, one side of the foundation of our house is several feet above the ground. The grout / stucco which is applied to the exterior of the foundation (to give it a nice look instead of that plain concrete look) was cracked and several pieces had fallen off. We needed that repaired and there were minor cracks in the stucco in several other portions that needed repair. Bob came out the same day I called him, provided us a bid and did the work the next day.

If you called the owner of the company, Bob Abel, he got right back to you. He was constantly coming and checking on the job. He was just very conscientious about the work that was being done. He didn't actually do the work. He just contracts the work out to people that he uses. But he was constantly on them and getting things done on time. He is super friendly and not what I would consider Mr Professional. He got the job done. I would highly recommend him. I had three other estimates and it was average with the others.

Bob was prompt in providing a price and when the job began, he arrived at the appointed time with all materials to do the job. Javier performed all of the work including matching 30 year old grout and repairing the cracked bricks so well that after he finished, I could not tell where he had done the work. This guy is GOOD!
Description of Work: My house is on clay soil and due to lack of rain, the ground has contracted resulting in gaps between the driveway and house foundation and separate garage. I had these gaps filled in to restrict water from getting into the foundation. I also had expansion joints filled in and repairs to grout and bricks which had cracked due to house settling.

Replaced several bricks in an arch that had fallen. Because of unusually cold weather, the job had to be done in 3 increments on 3 different days, because of slow drying time. This was unexpected, and I am sure his cost in labor was more than anticipated. However, he stayed with the quoted price. The brick grout was hand mixed to match 40 year old grout, and he did a very good job with the match, which is very difficult.

Excellent and undetectable repairs.
Description of Work: The decorative arch over our main entry had separated and had a 1" gap between the two elements. His mason arrived and quietly went to work. I was surprised to see him using a hair dryer to check that the new mortar would exactly match the existing mortar. It went really well. Bob is a very strong communicator and very involved in his business. He gave me a quote about a week before the work was actually done and the job took a couple of days. He kept in contact to make sure everything was done well and also visited while the work was being performed. Very good workmanship and a good understanding of the problem.

Bob's team did a great job. They got the paint off, they redid the cement and also noted some brick work that I was not aware that needed repair. I did not have to be home, Bob verified the work and contacted me after he was satisfied himself with the repair that it was completed. I would recommend Bob and would use his team the next time. Thank you for great service, I appreciate it very much.
Description of Work: I had some brick work that separated on the house, I had someone attempt to fix and it created more of a mess with both the mortar and painting of the brick. Brick was a reddish color, they used a pink. The mortar was a tan, they used a black cement. Bob assessed the workmanship, made recommendations, and move forward.

Owner came to the home and provided an estimate on the spot based on my description of what I wanted. Made recommendations of materials based on the colors in the backyard and showed me pictures of other recent projects. Owner provided me a written quotation. After filing for city approvals, I provide 50% down and he started the work on an agreed date, within a day or two of my target date. Work was completed over two days. Left a pile of dirt that I didn't expect near the work site when done but I agreed to address the issue myself. Found a place in the walkway that was a trip hazard so asked owner to send his crew back to do the fix. Retained 10% of balance to incentivize him to get the repairs done quickly. His people didn't return as promised on the date discussed but did return a few days later and provided an acceptable repair; I provided the balance to the owner the day after I accepted the work. Overall the owner delivered as promised and responded to my telephone calls and texts. He is very busy and obviously keeps his work calendar full but lamented constantly about how busy he was and how he was running from here to there everyday. I understand the nature of the work so it wasn't a big deal but it did reflect in his scheduling and responsiveness to get his crews to the site. Overall, the work was done well and is of very good quality. I am happy with the results and would use Masonry Arts again for future projects.

Response from Masonry Arts
Am glad the project went very well and came out beautiful exactly as expected. However, am a bit surprised to see in this detailed review where customer "hadn't expected a small pile of dirt" we had put near a fence. We had discussed that we would leave him surplus good topsoil from excavating the walk & he said that he guessed leaving in a low spot by the house would be a good place. When finishing, I instructed my crew that it would be better to put it near the fence where he had other concrete stepping type stones, since, it was supposed to rain very hard the next day...therefore turning the dirt into a very muddy un-workable mess for days. I had been working in/out of town & had to leave before seeing the last section of the walk. Am glad customer pointed out a stone that was naturally warped more than the others, so we planned on fixing it, even the very next day. My workers couldn't get by there that next day(Fri), then had more hard rains later that day so waited til dry on Monday. He held 10% till fixed which I said is fine. All went great consider weather & our schedule.
