Bob and Javier did an amazing job! They are professional and showed up on time ready to work. We are extremely pleased by their quality of work and attention to detail.
Description of Work: We contacted three masonry companies for quotes because some of the concrete was crumbling on the base near the foundation and we needed it patched and repaired. When Bob came out he noticed other areas on the brick that should also be patched and offered to seal the windows with silicone in addition to the masonry repairs for a reasonable cost.

Javier (I believe that was his name), came to do the repair. Bob was there also, gave him instructions and left. The work was done efficiently and very effectively. He even did a smaller crack that we had not found on the original inspection. It was all done within one day. Bob returned, inspected the job and was paid.
Description of Work: It was to repair cracks in the veneer of the foundation around two outside water faucets and in two other locations. I thought they might not be interested since it was not a "major" repair. Bob came and looked at the work and gave us an estimate and scheduled his employee to come that week for the repair.

I highly recommend Bob Able of Masonry Arts as I have used his company yearly for several years. Bob always returns my calls promptly even though he is very busy. Javier repaired mortar cracks in the rock wall in my front yard. He also repaired cracks in my sidewalk and on the chimney. Bob and Javier are professional and courteous. I will continue to use Masonry Arts as needed in the future.

Called Bob and set up an appointment . Would keep me updated when he could not make it . He came on the day of the appointment and was awesome . Gave practical solutions and reviewed the property and gave the best quote for what could be done. Called me back with a time when he could perform the job but I got stuck in something else . Am waiting to free up a little bit so that I can get the work done by him. Highly recommend him!

We had to get repairs done to the flashing around our chimney and in the process discovered that the chimney needed some masonry repair. I checked Angie's List for a recommendation and was so thankful to find this company. Not every masonry company does small jobs and I was worried that I would have a hard time finding anyone - and our roof repair could not proceed without it. Bob Abel came and gave me an estimate and then he followed up with our roofing repair company to coordinate schedules. His crew did an excellent job and we will have them back to do some other masonry touch ups on the exterior of our home too. His quote was very reasonable! Highly recommend this awesome company!

Never took off. Felt he was trying to force what he wanted instead of understanding what I wanted. Then for a 10 by 10 area he wanted to charge me $6,000. I offered to get all the material and he just do labor. He would not let me. Other bids have come in $3,000 -$4,000. I feel this is not a trusty company so I did not hire this crew. He also says he does concrete; when I asked for this service he said he did not do it. It is false advertisement. I also had to serial call to get any type of service.

Response from Masonry Arts
What? I cannot believe this incorrect, twisted and malicious review & especially un-deserved! I am so thankful that I didn't get this job. First, I wasted 3 - 4 hours of my precious time to TRY help this member when getting back from working out of town for many days and busy trying to get caught up. Member had told me up front that they had thrown 2 other previous contractors off the job(during work) before calling me. This alarmed me. Then, after providing several options available for this area, the member wanted the most expensive/delicate cut stone, etc. to cover about 130 sq. ft., (not 10' x 10') and with labor, & mortar for a stone retaining wall, with cut stone caps(none of which were mentioned above!). This member worried me all along, then, said husband also would be picky & won't like any design that is not square or rectangle. Professionalism "F" ? and punctuality "F"? I was there when I said I would be even though busier than ever. Says not trust(worth)y? Wow. Well, see my other hundreds of reviews & large commercial/gov't. references with never a issue & they would not agree with this members' harsh comments at all. Truth is they said that they could not hire us because finally told me their budget was $4,000 max. & didn't want "normal" flagstone even though I got it to meet that budget INCLUDING that retaining wall WITH cut stone caps...they wanted the expensive cut & large polished grey Lueders rectangle slabs, of which, you must budget many extra slabs for breakage & chips, & blemishes (which I could see coming on this job for sure). This isn't my first rodeo dealing with this stone. I don't like it when customers say they'll get the materials as I have been burned too many times in the past when materials are never ready when we need it, or right type, not enough, returning items, etc. I even tried to further help for FREE with nothing to gain, & suggested they then call a stamped & stained concrete company & they could have lines cut in it or stamped to look like stone slabs, which should fit their budget = & as I had said to this member, I do offer concrete - but regular plain concrete only & would not look good there for look that they want! Such an un-true, overly-bitter/hateful review with F's (not even D's?, LOL) - for taking up my time to try to help & for not even getting a job, nor would I have made much on it. Now, I had to waste even more time on my Sat. night responding to nonsense after working all day in the heat then seeing this. Thanks.

Masonry Art has taken service to a new "art" form. It is rare to find, in today's times but, Bob went above and beyond when someone need help in a hurry. He came within hours to check it out. Very thoroughly. Back the next day and his step-son did the job in three hours. Superb workmanship. And, a very nice person.

Bob Abel was very friendly and empathetic about my situation. His price was the same as other quotes, but it was his kindness that got him the job. He was able to send someone out to do the repair very quickly and they did a great job. The brick the found was very similar to the existing brick, so the repair is hardly noticeable. The two men that came to do the repair were also very friendly (Luis and one other). They worked quickly and cleaned up before they left.

I highly recommend Masonry Arts for any of your masonry needs. The owner Bob Abel, was punctual to our initial meeting, very informative and friendly. I was given a proposal within 24 hours. He is very professional, was always available if I had any questions or concerns. If I had a concern, it was addressed immediately. Our project took a few weeks because of the size of the property and Bob came by or was in contact daily with me. He is honest, reliable and if I need any further work I would hire him again. He went above and beyond what we expected. We are very pleased with the work performed.

We LOVE Masonry Arts for masonry work and would use them again for that, but would not hire again for painting. For example, the painter used three different types of wood for trim around the windows in the front. And, he did not honor our request that the side not be painted until the deck work was completed, so we now have a lot of touch up work to do,

Response from Masonry Arts
I was frustrated when saw this brief review, just getting back from a long holiday vacation. My painter was having a hard time finding a match on the old trim of that house, as don't make that kind anymore. He replaced all with closest match, other than one looked better to not put trim there if can't match. They said it was ok. My painter was very busy with many holiday rush jobs, & the helper he put there was mentally challenged it appears. He was fired. It didn't help that the customer was critiquing all each day before Pedro & I could do a walk thru & correct anything. There was no mention of the wonderful job done on rebuilding the chimney & trim for that area. The original plan was to paint all except the patio support beams as were to be replaced by others. Later they said just wait on that whole side as was muddy ...but my painter forgot when dried up & painted the whole side minus the supports as planned. Sorry, but no harm done as we need to go back anyway for those touch ups on the supports & said will do any other touch ups needed for free. My painter had said is it was a good thing to paint as much as could before the new deck went in, in order to paint between the gaps where touches the wall, & not chance messing up the deck walking & painting, even if covered with plastic. We all agreed to withhold money from us until they were ready with their new posts, etc. after the holiday to be painted and do a final walk-thru on touch ups etc..

Bob is a great person to work with! Prior to putting our house on the market, we required stucco repair as well as painting. Long story short - the house sold in 8 days! The transformation was amazing. We were competing with new homes and our house looked brand new! I was at home for much of the work. The stucco and painting crews were polite, conscientious and true craftsmen. I highly recommend this company!

We called Bob to get a quote on extending our concrete patio out into our yard. He responded quickly to our voicemail and was able to come out the same week. Once he was here, he made the suggestion of a flagstone patio to cover the existing concrete slab and extend it. At first, you would think this was an upsell, but when he gave us the quote, it was only a few hundred dollars more than the other contractors had quoted us to only extend the concrete. Well worth the cost if the aesthetics are at all important to you. Once we chose to use Bob for this project, he gave us the option letting him pick out the stone, or having us meet him at the stone yard so that we could personally pick it out. We chose it pick it out ourselves and Bob was able to meet with us within a couple of days at the stone yard to pick out the materials. After that, it was only 4 days before they began work on the project that lasted 2 days. He has a good crew that was very patient with me as I asked questions about the work they were doing. Bob was great in explaining to us how to care for the new patio and a timeline on when to take steps towards sealing it. While I'm sure this wasn't a huge project for him, he knew that it was important to us and took the job seriously. Overall we are very happy with the work and would use Masonry Arts for future projects.
