Description of Work: WHAT A GREAT BUSINESS TO WORK WITH! Masonry Arts did a fabulous job sealing cracks on our stone work for our two commercial buildings. In addition they recaulked both buildings (12,450 sq ft). Bob Abel and his Son-In-Law were professional, friendly, accomodating, and diligent in reaching the goals of the project on time. The most impressive fact: Masonry Arts discovered and corrected issues the original builder failed to accomplish. I look forward to working with Masonry Arts for my maintenance projects next year.

I requested a quote for installation of a brick retaining wall and brick circles around two trees. Bob had a HUGE binder full of photos of completed jobs. Needless to say, Bob had several great ideas. I selected a design which was distinctive and I hadn't seen previously in other yards. After he provided a quote for a little over $2600.00. I contacted another vendor in order to receive another quote. The second vendor's quote was much cheaper than Masonry Arts. In the end, I selected Masonry Arts based on their extensive experience with brick masonry. Afterall, you get what you pay for. After providing the deposit, Bob and his team started the installation within a few days. The installation took an 8 man team one day to complete. Javier and his installation team did an excellent job. Bob periodically stopped by to check on the progress and make a few adjustments. After the project was completed, the installation team cleaned up the work site. A few days later, Bob followed-up to determine if I was able to remove the brick dust from the completed masonry. He offered to return and remove any remaining brick dust with Muriatic Acid. The retaining wall and brick borders look beautiful. My neighbors have already commented on the great appearance. It's amazing how much professionally installed brick masonry can approve the overall appearance of your home!
Description of Work: Build 30' long garden retaining wall and two 4' in diameter circles around two trees. Wall outline was 6" x 6" siena stone blocks with white mortar (one course tall, then 2-3 courses as needed to level). Utilized pre-existing brick and additional brick with gray mortar to install on top of the retaining wall and circles as a roll-lock cap effect.

The workmanship and results were nothing less than spectacular. First - Bob Abel responded very quickly to our request for an estimate. When he arrived to see our project, he brought with him his chief stucco man. We received his proposal very promptly after that. We were impressed by his knowledge, experience, integrity (not to mention the great reviews on Angie's List.) We selected this company and work began very promptly afterwards. The work was painstakingly done: wire mesh nailed to our old structure, then the stuccoing process began. Everything was trowelled on - nothing sprayed. There were approximately 3 stucco base coats applied by hand, drying overnight. Then the final finishing process took two half-days. A cap was put on top of the fence for decorative value. The workmen were diligent and excellent! The end result is transformative for our entire back yard and our home. We enthusiastically give Masonry Arts the highest marks possible in all aspects of service.
Description of Work: Masonry Arts stuccoed a 37-year old painted concrete fence surrounding an in-ground swimming pool in the backyard of our garden home. The wall was sturdy and in good condition - just not aesthetically pleasing.

09/10- Although we followed the instructions regarding watering the concrete our patio developed cracks within one month of the job completion. Bob came out and tried to add powder to the crack but that did not work. They can't do anything about cracks after the face and now we have 2 cracks. I would suggest asking more questions regarding the job prior to hiring them. Our patio and front porch had been damaged due to foundation repairs. Bob spent a great deal of time (and patience) with us presenting various design ideas for the patio and front porch. After we decided on the materials and design he quickly contracted the concrete and brick work and had it done in 2 weeks. He checked on the workers every day to insure they performed the work as contracted and kept us updated on a daily basis. He does excellent work and we would recommend him to anyone looking for masonry work.

As all know, nothing & nobody can prevent concrete cracks, especially cosmetic surface cracks. Hopefully the homeowner watered the slab sufficiently as stated! We did everything correctly & per code. A concrete supplier & expert once told me: do you want concrete that will crack in the future, or the kind that comes cracked? Look in ANY commercial building, such as the new HEB Store Alon Center with polished concrete floors & you will find many very large cracks even. I originally recommended flagstone as concrete is so un-predictable.

They were very good, excellent and top rate. They came out and the person who runs it talked with me about many suggestions and possibilities. He spent about an hour and a half with me. He came back with the ordered products, installed it and cleaned up. Then he came back and spent some more time with more possibilites. I liked the fact that he spent some time and layed out a quality lay out. Even the final details of it were far superior to what I expected. I had a hard time finding someone until I found him. I thought the price was right in the ball park, too, I can't say anything negative.

Bob did a GREAT job. He's knowledgable, nice and a pleasure to have in your home. I would highly recommend him to anyone!
Description of Work: We have a "set-in" fireplace inside a rock surround that is 30 yrs old. The mortar from all four sides around the fireplace have come out over the years- on side about a 1/2" gaping gap! Bob came over the same day I spoke to him - to see it in the aft and came back that evening to fix it for us. He also filled in one side of the garage where the mortar had come out.

Bob has a real eye for design and is very helpful in making suggestions for things that we could do on our own. He was frequently present when the masons were working and he made sure that everything was done as planned. Before the work began he showed many photos from his portfoliio, this made the process easier for us as far as making choices. He also called and came by after the work was completed to see that everthing was done to our satisfaction..
Description of Work: A retaining wall around a swimming pool was designed and constructed to correct a problem created by Canyon Creek Pools. A wall of heavy limestone blocks, capped by matching flagstone, was built to accent the pool design. This also created a large planting area. In addition, a stone accent boarder was constructed in another garden area to aid in the flow and redirection of rain water.

Great job done by a real professional that's was focused on me and my concerns. It rained three (3) days, yet I experienced only one (1) delay in the job interval.
Description of Work: Bob consulted with me on best ways to replace existing sinking and eroding front steps (including seat walls on either side of steps) connected to the porch. His team demolished existing front steps/ seat walls and disposed of the ruins. Laid new concrete and brick worked to match existing brick work on porch and then secured new steps by anchoring it to front porch via dowels and rebar to combat continuous foundation movement systemic with my area. Then they plastered and painted the sides of the new steps to match the rest of my house.

Just up front, Masonry Arts, and specifically the owner Bob Abel, is a world-class business/business owner. From start to finish, the process exceeded all of my expectations. I had picked them after looking through the listings within Angie's List. I called Bob at the beginning of October, and he came by to look at the site and show me his portfolio. I was impressed with the work he's done. A week later, I picked Masonry Arts to do the work, and Bob had his crew to our house within a couple of days. They started work on Friday, worked Saturday, and had the job finished on Monday. Their work was superb. I will be using Masonry Arts for additional work later on. 100% satisfied!

I found Masonry Arts through Angie's List. The owner, Robert Abel, responded promptly to see what I needed done and then quickly gave me an estimate. Work had to be delayed because of rain and Mr. Abel kept me updated about the situation and when work would be completed. It is refreshing to deal with a company which maintains close communications with the customer about the progress of work. The facade of the foundation looks almost like that of a brand new home.

I had a hard time finding a company to tackle a very tough drainage problem between my pool and my house. Bob came in and understood what I wanted and gave me a bid that was very competitive. They started the project on the day they said they would and finished before they said they would. The finished product is better than I had envisioned. Bob and his crew chief, Javier, gave me several suggestions on the design to make the job look more professional. Bob is very artistic and is able to translate his ideas into beautiful stone work.

Called Bob and set up an appointment for estimate of repair. Bob and his worker showed up and evaluated the work that needed to be done. Bob also showed examples of other work he had completed. Bob explained the what he would do, and any complications that he may run into. Bob said he would provide an estimate within the a day. Bob called approximately 2 hours later and provided the estimate. The estimate was fair and competitive based on other estimates. Bob started and completed during the agreed upon time, and the work was excellent. Bob confirmed that the work was up to my standards before collecting the final payment, then explained how to maintain the work. Bob kept his workers there as well just in case any touch up work needed to be done. Overall excellent work.

Bob scheduled a time to come over to look at everything to provide an estimate for remortaring/tuck pointing around the outside of the house. He was unable to come and was very prompt about calling to reschedule. Circumstances occurred on another job that resulted in his being about two hours later than scheduled to come out to provide an estimate. He was very good about calling to let me know but it was almost dark by the time he arrived. He was to do the remortaring himself but the next day he called to say his workers would do the job at the same hourly rate per person. He had a family situation to take care of and would not be able to perform the work himself nor would he be on site to supervise the workers. We've had problems in the past with unsupervised workers. Even though the workers corrected any problems that arose, the extra time and inconvenience involved led me to decline using Masonry Arts at this time since Bob wasn't able to do the work himself as he first told me.

NICE LADY, BUT SEEMS LIKE A CRITICAL REPORT FOR ONLY AN ESTIMATE & NEVER HAVING WORKED WITH HER BEFORE. HAD TO PUT MY ELDERLY MOTHER IN THE HOSPITAL & I SAID WOULD SET UP & CHECK ON MY WORKERS 3 TIME/DAY. THEY ARE VERY CAPABLE OF SIMPLE MORTAR REPAIRS AS WE DO ALL TYPES OF LARGE & SMALL MASONRY WORK. I UNDERSTAND SHE HAD PROBLEMS WITH OTHER COMPANIES, BUT I HAD SHOWN PHOTO ALBUM OF LARGE BANK/RESTAURANT JOBS WE DID AS WELL AS HUNDREDS OF OTHER RESIDENTIAL MASONRY PROJECTS FROM ENTIRE NEW HOME CONSTRUCTION TO FIREPLACES, GARDENS & WATERFALLS. NO PROBLEM... JUST NEEDED TO CLARIFY SCENARIO.

I called them for the masonry work on the side of the house. We set up a time for the quote. He gave us what I considered a fair price for the masonry work on the side and front of the house. Bob inspected the masonry work on the side and front of the house at the end of the first day and the crew returned the next day to complete a few things. Masonry Arts did show up at the agreed upon time for the work. Overall I would work with him again.
Description of Work: The brick on the side of our house needed tuck pointing after 30 years of settling. Masonry Arts removed and replaced the mortar and closely matched the older mortar. They also completed touch up the slab due to minor plastic shrinkage cracks.
