It was an excellent experience. The mailbox that they built was incredible. It was exactly what we wanted. All the stuff with it were really nice. They had very good craftsmanship and the mailbox had a good quality. I am going to have them come back and do a patio at a later date. If you have got any kind of rock work, stone work and any kind of work that requires a good stone mason then go to these guys. They were very good.

They did a good job working on it. He’s a super nice guy to work with. He was by two to three times a day to check up on the worker that was doing the work. He always stayed in touch with me, checking in several times a day to make sure I was being served well. His worker was always available to call him as well. The guy who did the work worked very steadily until everything was done.
Description of Work: The front of my house needed pointing work done on the limestone. My limestone posts for my fences also needed to be capped with mortar. They also did some general work fixing up the concrete, as that tends to need help every once and a while around here.

Putting the house on the market and wanted to have cosmetic repairs done to a lot of hairline cracks in mortar. A few small pieces of brick needed to be added. Also wanted him to add a skim coat over one side of the foundation (cinder block) that was exposed. Jon Abel did a full inspection with me. He later made a second inspection with my husband reassuring all repairs would be complete and to our satisfaction. He had a full calendar and stated he would work with us since we were trying to get the house ready for sale. He was able to squeeze us in. Javier did a marvelous job. He is truly an artist. Jon is fortunate to have such an employee. Jon Abel does business the old fashioned way with a handshake and a commitment to deliver the job on time and as promised. Would highly recommend his company.

Thanks, really great people to have worked with! Glad we could help in time. It's Bob though(not Jon)...no problem. Thanks again!
Bob is a very friendly guy. He is very honest. He would go over exactly what he was going to do with us, wrote a contract, and began on the day he said he would. His workers were very quick but thorough, and were also very friendly. We got exactly what we wanted and were very pleased. He keeps good records of previous jobs thus showing us an idea of what ours would look like. We definitely will use him again if we ever need more work!

The work was faultless and thorough! It was a professional experience from beginning to end. When I requested that they take a little more care with the trees surrounding the columns they willing adapted their working patterns. Brilliant!
Description of Work: Bob Abel came out and look at the stucco/concrete designs for the columns for a new garden fence. He asked questions, and paid attention to the details of the design. He sent me a bid within the timeframe discussed and came out to meet the metal work guy and the landscaper to ensure that everyone was on the same page. His team ensured that each column had the right foundation and worked hard to create the designs as outlined for the columns. His team were efficient, were willing to do a mock-up column to ensure they could work according to the design brief and also adapted and redid the stucco finish to more closely match the stucco on the house. The cleaned up at the end of the job.

I'm very thankful for the opportunity this Angie's List member gave me to work on this project, & to have worked with them! They knew precisely what they wanted & were great to deal with the entire time. I'm especially proud of this project, as it is on a principal street in a prominent historic residential area, & was coordinated with a famous landscape architect. I love the challenge of trying to duplicate the integrity & details of historic homes with the design, materials & techniques used in that period in time. I was worried before starting about all going well on such a detailed "showcase" project, but it went perfect with all 11 columns with custom top caps perfectly in line in every direction, & a special sprayed-on stucco finish & color that resulted in matching the existing historic house. My crews did excellent as usual, & I owe them continued thanks. Thanks again for the chance to do this job! ;) Bob

The workers came out when they said they would. The job took place over three days, to allow time for the new stucco to dry before painting. Very professional attitude and skills of the workers. Bid proces seemed very good. Would recommend them highly.
Description of Work: Bob bid the work and Pablo & his assistant did it. We had stucco cracked and damaged in several places around the house and the chimney. Pablo took down the old rotted stuff, put up new, blended it in very well, and painted it to match. Really good work. Bob was prompt with return calls and the work was done when they said it would be. Cleaned up the work site well too.

This was a rewarding experience. Bob was quick to respond to my request for an estimate to repair the interior of the fireplace. In addition, he noticed cracks in the mortar of the exterior of the house and suggested that he could match the color of the existing mortar so that the new repairs would be virtually undetectable. He gave me a bid which I accepted and he and Javier started work a few days later. Javier did an expert job; he was able to accomplish even more than I had anticipated. He left the work areas spotlessly clean, matched the exterior mortar excellently, and was able to reach even higher into the smoke chamber to make repairs that I didn't think he'd be able to reach. Overall, this was a very positive experience and I highly recommend Bob and Javier for any masonry work you might need.

We are selling our home and our inspection revealed cracks in our stucco that the buyer was requesting to be fixed. We had no idea how much this was going to cost, but based upon the pictures, it looked expensive. Searched through Angie's list, and gave Bob a call based on his reviews. Mind you, I called on a Sunday knowing they weren't open. He happened to be doing office work and called me right back! He was able to set it up to have his stucco guy, Pablo, come by our house to give us a quote the very next day! He was at our house bright and early at 0800. Bob got back to us and said he could take care of everything for $395, which I thought was extremely reasonable and even offered to provide us with a detailed invoice to give to our buyer which I thought was extra considerate. Pablo and another gentleman were able to begin work on our home the next day and AGAIN, they showed up extremely early, completed work efficiently and as proposed. They returned the following day, now Wednesday, after all the stucco and caulking had adequate time to dry to paint over the areas that were fixed. I was provided the invoice as promised and am pleased with the work! I never did meet Bob in person, but I do understand he is a busy man, and since Pablo is the "stucco guy" I don't see that there really is any reason for him to have wasted a trip out to my home, since I was able to speak with him on the phone literally every day for updates. I would highly recommend Bob Abel, Pablo and this company as a whole to anybody!

We needed some repair work done to our 100+ year old front porch steps. Bob came out, gave his opinion on what should be done, and an estimate of repair costs. This experience was top-notch from start to finish. I would not hesitate to use them again in the future and will definitely recommend them to my friends.
Description of Work: They repaired and filled in mortar cracks on entry steps and bannisters. Then added a thin overall coat of plaster mortar for a nice smooth finish. They also repaired some cracks in a brick flowerbed border.

I was soliciting landscape and concrete providers for a large three-sidewalk complex and a small patio for my back yard. I thought a flagstone walk and patio would look really attractive. Angie's List reviews were very flattering about Masonry Arts so I contacted Bob and told him something about the job and my back yard, which has strong inclines and some erosion potential. I wasn't even sure he could help me after we talked on the phone, and he explained his methods of putting down flagstones. He volunteered to come out and look at the site to see if he could help me. He indicated he would contact me Monday of the next week and set up a time. He was extremely busy at this time, but he called and came out as he promised. We looked at the proposed site, and I explained what I wanted. Although Bob felt that some of my job would be appropriate for his company to perform, he believed most would require concrete as a foundation because of the steep angles in my yard. He suggested other alternatives to get me the appearance of flagstones without the hazards of erosion that could result in my yard. We discussed concrete for all the job with perhaps some staining and stamping to give a multicolor appearance such as would occur in real stone. I said I was considering that but not many concrete companies wanted to do that additional effort. He gave me the name and phone number of a concrete company he occasionally used when he needed concrete laid for his projects. He even contacted his supplier that evening and asked him to get in touch with me. Bob had taken photos of the site and taken measurements, and he gave this info to his supplier. Bob called me early the next morning with an estimate and job specs that the supplier had given him. The estimate was within my budget, but I told Bob I wanted the concrete supplier to actually look at the site and for me to meet him before I gave him the job. He gave me the phone number to call, but he said he had asked his supplier to get in touch with me. Bob, however, did emphasize that he was not responsible in any way for the other company's performance if I went with him. I agreed that Bob would not get any blame if things went badly, but I would give him the credit if things went well. All this was well beyond any efforts that other companies would have done as busy as Bob is with the jobs that he was working on. I took his time and business contacts, and he got only my good will. However, my wife said to keep his number because sometime next year she would want some flagstone work done on a flower garden in our front yard. So we will keep his number, and maybe give him a call next year. I was very pleased with Bob's help, even if he did not take the job.

It was a pleasure to assist this Angie's List member. Based on the info on the phone, I wasn't sure if I could do the job comfortably until saw the slope, as he said it was complicated. But, I just wanted to help as he needed to make a decision fast. I love flagstone above all forms of patios & walks, as concrete has its problems regardless of who does it. I do concrete plaster plaster repairs & have done all types of concrete driveways, etc. in the past & present, but concrete isn't my favorite thing to deal with = there's only one way to make money, but LOTS of ways to loose money. ;) Glad I was able to help, & hope all goes well with the contractor I had told him about(but I hate referring ANYbody) as he seems like the best contractor for the job &at least cares about others. I look forward to working with this member in the future on any masonry needs.

I have used Masonry Arts before for fixing minor cracks in my brick veneer but decided to use them for the repainting of the exterior of my house. My house is brick on all four sides, but there's still a lot to paint, including the gutters, soffits, exposed fascia, chimney, downspouts, roof jacks, and exterior doors. I was impressed with the work of Pablo and his fellow craftsman. They arrived early, worked late, were careful with their work, had a fine eye for detail, and really gave me my money's worth. If they spilled a drop of paint, I've yet to find it. It was one of those satisfying experiences, where I felt that I got my money's worth and then some. I paid a little extra for Pablo to use Sherwin-Williams "Duration" exterior paint, and the job looks great. I think I was most impressed with the prep work--the careful cleaning of the gutters before painting, the sanding of the doors, the picking out of some of the old caulk before new caulk was applied and so forth. I highly recommend that you give Masonry Arts the opportunity to bid on any exterior painting job you might have.
Description of Work: Masonry Arts recaulked and painted the entire exterior of my one-story home, including chimney, gutters, downspouts, soffits and doors.
