This is an update to a previous review. A cleaner used a steel wool type sponge on my stove top and scratched it. At first maids around town said they would cover damages. However, this has gone on for two months now and no manager will return calls or emails. I've filed a complaint against this company with the states attorney and the better business bureau. I strongly caution anyone from using this company due to poor customer service if anything goes wrong.
Description of Work: This is an update to a previous review. I use them for monthly cleaning .

Because a different cleaner was sent just about all of the 8-10 times I used Maids Around Town, it's hard to give a single rating of their performance-- some were much better than others and completed the work that I was expecting given the time and cost. Others did not meet those expectations even remotely, and I'm not sure how they spent the three hours at my house given that almost nothing was cleaned to my satisfaction when I returned. In addition to this inconsistency, I had no cleaner show up twice, a cleaner show up late multiple times, and Maids Around Town contact me before a cleaning multiple times telling me they'd overbooked and wanted to reschedule. The company was very responsive in these situations and offered to reschedule my cleaning and give me discounts, but given that I usually planned my whole schedule (and that of my toddler) around when the cleaner needed to be in the house, it was a huge inconvenience when this happened. This company is alright if you are looking for a one-time cleaning and make sure to schedule sufficient time for someone to complete the work you want. However, I would not recommend Maids Around Town to my friends looking for regular cleanings and am searching for another cleaning provider who can send the same cleaner each week, or at least most weeks, so I can have more consistent results and not have to give a tour of the house every time.
Description of Work: I hired Maids Around Town to do regularly scheduled cleaning of my house every two weeks this fall and winter.

Description of Work: I'm so pleased with my cleaner, Freyda! She is a consummate professional, and she knows how to clean a house (so many of the cleaners don't, surprisingly). We have her M-W-F and my house has never been cleaner!

We just moved and were forced to change maid services. We found Maids Around Town via Thumbtack. $20 an hour and they did laundry? Nice! My new house is small and I am very clean. When I first spoke to someone I told them what I was looking for...weekly cleaning with laundry service. I was told they would schedule 2 maids for 2 1/2 hours. I was on the schedule for Mondays Sunday rolls around and I get a text and an email about my upcoming service on Monday at 8am. At 7am Monday I get a call that my maid called in sick and they need to reschedule for noon. I say that's fine and wait around till 12, then 1, then 130. I call and they tell me that they didn't know the maid didn't show. No call No show? They apologize and setup a comp service for Tuesday. Sounds like decent customer care. Tuesday comes and both maids show up. I tell them what I want done and they say they don't have enough time to do laundry and clean in 2 hours. (Note my washer and dry cleans in 1 hour) and say they will get done what they can. 2 loads, forgot to take out the trash, and did an ok job of cleaning. Hey its free so I'm not complaining too much. I call into the office an tell them the maid said they didn't need 2 maids for my house and i should schedule 1 for 4 hours to get to all the laundry. Now it's set for next Tuesday. Tuesday comes and it's a new maid. Nice lady who tells me she is a trainer and she will do an excellent job. I show her the speed wash/dry on our washer and dryer and everything else in the house. then leave. When I get back the house is cleaner than before and everything looks much better. 1 load of laundry was done and they left clothes in the dryer and washer? You're kidding me. Oh the best part....They charged my card $113? $20 hour x 4 hours = $113? I call into customer service. They apologize and offer me a refund for the laundry time or they can send someone out to finish the laundry. I said I would prefer the refund. I ask how they came up with the charge for $113 and they told me 2 maids for 2 1/2 hours? I told them I had 1 maid for 4 hours. They said she was training and a 2nd person was there and that they were very slow and that made it impossible to finish the job. At this point i'm done. Give me my refund and i'll hire someone else. It's just not gonna get done correctly. Customer service has still yet to contact me about how much my refund is. I give them 2 stars cause the 2nd cleaner really didn't do a bad job. The customer service, billing, and management just sucks

Description of Work: I LOVE this service! My cleaner is AMAZING! She gets right on the task and doesn't quit! She does what I ask her to do, and if she finishes before my time request is up, she does MORE. I like the way this business is run, and I totally trust my assistant! I only have Leticia once a month for 2 hours, but what she does in 2 hours - YIKES! She works hard for me. And when I come home from work, open my door, I KNOW she was there. If you are in an area where Maids Around Town is available to you, you can trust them and trust the work that they do to help you. Also, if you have pets that are a concern, you sure don't need to worry about Maids Around Town. Just let them know you have pets. My little shih Tzu girl is CRAZY about Leticia. She greets her properly and happily, and then she gets to work. My little dog "monitors." I am SO happy with Maids Around Town. Personally, and professionally.

Hello Everyone: Decided six weeks ago to hire a cleaning company after our old housekeeper of eight years moved on. Nervous at first because I didn't know what I would get, but decided to give Maids Around Town a chance. I am pleased that they have been VERY professional. I have been hiring them weekly (four hours) for six weeks now and plan to stay with them. Definitely one of the better decisions I've made lately. Our cleaner is Andrea C. and she has always shown up on time (8 AM) and dedicated the allotted four hours to cleaning. Plus, she is flexible. If I want extra time in one room and a quick cleaning for another, she accommodates (2400 sq. ft. home) so it's not small. Also, we have two dogs and one cat and LOTS OF BOOKSHELVES, so it did take Andrea about three weeks to really get the swing of things, but now she really moves. She takes time to make sure the cleaning is good. I mean, there is so much animal fur on the carpets and on the shelves after a week, but she does a great job at getting all of it. Moreover, she works with me to report on any issues in / with the house. If there is a leaky faucet or toilet handle that won't come back up quickly, she tells me so I can fix it ASAP. In the beginning, she knocked down a trophy from a wobbly bookcase and it disassembled. She immediately told me about it and apologized profusely. (I fixed it.) I was very impressed with her honesty. She is my eyes, ears, and hands in this house. I trust her implicitly. Andrea always leaves a checklist of what's been done and allows me the chance to evaluate what I might want her to focus on the following week. I receive an email / text reminder the day before that she is coming, and a billing invoice / receipt via email later in the day after cleaning is complete with a company contact phone number and email if not satisfied (but always have been). While I want to stress that the service is light housekeeping, it is still very good. Sometimes people forget there is a difference between a THOROUGH cleaning and LIGHT housekeeping. I was guilty of that. Not until I started downsizing my house over the last year and removing many knick-knacks did I realize that sometimes we expect perfection instead of a reasonable cleaning. Just two weeks ago her supervisor showed up and wanted to talk to me to see how I liked the service. Asked me what they could do to make sure I would rate them at a 10 for services rendered. Couldn't really think of anything. Did comment that I really enjoy the rate of $20 / hour (minimum of 3 hours) because I can add more hours on the go; and, I am credited if I cut back on any hours. Granted, there is a $5 cleaning supply fee, but it's for "green" supplies. I do prefer they use some of my cleaning supplies for high end furniture, but that's OK. They do background checks on their employees, and taxes are included in the bill, so I never am, dare I say it, paying someone under the table to clean my house. I pay a legitimate employee of a legitimate company. There is no long-term contract, so that's a plus. The company is very flexible in regards to hours, number of people you want to clean your home at a time (more folks will call for slightly higher rates), but their rates are one of the best in this competitive field.
