- A great company with individuals who care about the work being done.- Weather was the only thing that stopped their work. When the weather was good, they were timely and professional. - They were available using email or the phone. This company is Lone Star Roofing and Construction. Do not get them confused with Lone Star Roofing. The only 2 things we would have done differently were: 1) For what we spent on the back porch -- we should have spent a little bit more, or somehow given more thought, to have a lovely back porch instead of a rather plain, although quite sound, back porch roof. 2) Eric said that his mom painted the underside of her roof light blue and she no longer gets wasp nests. He told us this info after Phillip and his crew had done the completely new outside paint job. We would have liked the info prior to the work being done so we could have duplicated his mom's success. They have come back to wash the roof one time. They have done an inspection 1 time and found all things good. Eric came back to the house to do a small job for us and he did a find job. We are very happy to have worked with them and refer them with high marks.
Description of Work: 1) We wanted our roof painted white to reflect the heat. We wanted to extend the life of the existing roof. No other roofing company wanted to do the work. Because it was "new" and cost much less than the cost of replacing an old roof. 2) We wanted to paint the outside of our home. 3) Shawn came to the house and diagnosed serious water damage.4) The previous owner of our home had been a dentist who liked to make golf clubs on the back porch. He had made a roof himself to cover his work area which had decayed badly and needed replaced. No one else would touch the job because the previous owner had very unprofessionally attached his makeshift roof to the main roof by cutting into and hiding his link. (unknown to us and somehow the fact had slipped by the inspector of our home when we purchased it).5) It cost less for the wonderful money savings white reflective Elastomeric coatings painting work done to the main roof ($6,000) (and FYI - last month the electric bill for our 3000 sq foot home, pool and charging of the LEAF electric car was $75.05), than it cost to correct the badly self installed makeshift roof. ($19,000). It cost $5,000 to fix the siding and water damage and $2,000 to do all the painting not on the roof.

It was pretty evident that the representative didn't want to be here. Just based on my description, not even putting eyes on the potential problem. - I was told that a roof vent owuld have to be replaced and was quoted "at least $300." He then very reluctantly looked at the area in question from at least 10-15 feet away, took a couple of photographs and said he'd e-mail me a quote for repair by the next day. Never recieved the quote and never heard from the rep again.
Description of Work: Asked the company to provide an roof inspection/estimate for repair. It was pretty evident that the representative didn't want to be here. They did a great job. They cleaned up after themselves. They were very professional. The price that they charged me wasn't any higher than their bid. They started when they said that they would and finished up when they said that they would. When I first used them in 2010, they came out the very next day after I called them. The office staff is wonderful.

..Wow, start to finish... ok lets see, i called they were out the next day checking out the damage.. Brad Hayworth emailed me that night about the work needed to be done, and the price... you have to wait 2 days to see if i would change my mind... of course i did not.. Brad was calling me each day to let me know how things were going. They were to start work on Friday , but it was raining, and then i got sick so i ask them to wait till i was better... we decided to wait till after Christmas, which was ok with me... Brad called me on Tuesday after Christmas and said they would deliver on Wednesday and yes they were here right when he said they would... the next morning the crew was here bright and early, and began work......... they worked till about 6 and finished everything... it is beautiful and the work they did was perfect, i was very happy... these are really nice people, i would recommend them to anyone that wants workers that are polite and friendly.. oh and the clean up was out of this world, every little bit was picked up and they went over the yard with the magnetic machine to get all the nails..... things they moved were put back in place , no trees or bushes were damaged at all.. i am needless to say very very pleased with this company and especially Brad Hayworth... I will tell all my friends about this wonderful company.... would use them again if i had to.. just hope i don't, but you never know about Texas weather and the hail and wind Martha Miller

Following the series of days with over 100 degree Texas heat, the EPDM over this portion of the roof cracked and separated. When it finally rained we had a gully-washer in our hallway. Those I spoke to on the phone from Lone Star Roofing were professional, polite and very helpful. They accommodated my awkward schedule and the estimator showed up on time (actually a bit early, but he called and with my permission started without me). By the time I arrived he had already measured everything and had a suggestion. He offered a couple of alternatives to the EPDM and made his recommendation. He emailed the proposal exactly when he said he would. It was thorough and very professional. After a few days I faxed the agreement back and they called right away to set up the work. We arranged to have the work done while I was out of town. When I returned I couldn't even tell that they had been there, except the roof was fixed. Follow-up inspector showed up when they said he would. He was courteous and professional. He also obviously knew his stuff. He took my concerns seriously (it was slightly different than I expected, but exactly as they described in their proposal), made note of my questions about what things looked like when they pulled the roof off (no moisture or mold underneath.) They also called back to address my concerns and satisfied me that the material was significantly more substantial than I thought. I wouldn't hesitate to hire these folks again. First rate all around!

Excellent ! think the notes under services performed describes it all.. also Debbie , in the office was very helpful and understanding.
Description of Work: Eric has been very considerate and cooperative with the pricing and sending very good and experienced roofers and painters . I did think it was a little more expensive than I had expected, but they so far have done quality work and have taken care not to damage plants etc. which meant a lot to me and my husband. The painters have been especially helpful with their suggestions.. I love the finished roof and so far the painting looks good. we are not quite finished with it. thanks, vivian litchfeild

After waiting for 3 weeks for my appointment day, Eric showed up promptly and even early. I was impressed. After looking at all the areas and taking measurements he went back to his truck to work up an estimate. After about 20 minutes he said he sent the estimate via email to my email account. He left and I checked my email account. There was no email. I called him immediately and told him there was no email and he said he would check his outbox. 24 hours later and no estimate. I then called the office and explained the situation. She confirmed my email address and said she would send it. It is now October 24th and no estimate. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this company based on my experience.
Description of Work: Eric came out to my house and was supposed to provide me an estimate on a roof repair, both outside and inside, and for a window that had some rotten wood.

Estimator came 4/27/10, Indicated a quote would be faxed in about 1 week. 5/27/10 received 6 page (excluding photos) faxed quote after reminding Lone Star office. 6/9/10 quote signed after discussion with estimator. No start date given. 7/19/10, foreman came to make materials list. 7/26/10 work began and took 2-1/2 days. Workmen were very professional. However, repair of the fascia that was torn when a raccoon got into our attic, and was the reason prompting us to have the roof repaired, was not on their work order ! Permission to make the repair was promptly given from office. Workmen cleaned up area well.

Overall the experience with Lone Star Roofing and Construction was great! 1- We started reading about the energy star reflective roof coatings 10 years ago (they are applied in S. CA, AZ and FL) but could find no one in San Antonio to apply one to our roof because Texas building commission was not allowing them. The coating is applied to your old roof; thus not only extending its life but also keeping it out of the landfill. June 2009, we found LSRand C, after we started looking again to coat the roof, after 2 events happened: 1) We heard a speech by Sec. of the Energy Steven Chu in which he suggested to people to paint their roofs white to save energy and 2) We had a shingle loosen from our roof. LSRand C found someone to warrant their work by October, 2009. They chose our coating and immediately started working on our new roof. The material must be applied to a dry roof over 55 degrees in temperature. Work had to be delayed because after 2 years of heat and drought, San Antonio had a cold, rainy fall and winter. Whenever weather permitted, LSRand C showed up to work. Even if for only a few hours – LSRand C worked as weather permitted. The 1st coat was applied and protected the roof and the siding from further water damage. The job was done by March 2010. IT was not a hardship to wait. The work was done as was possible. Eric or Al would be on the property as needed to oversee work or to talk with us as homeowners. 2- Shawn diagnosed the water damage, again missed by our inspector, and suggested the easiest, most effective and cheapest repair would be to use the same roof coating on the siding of our home. 3- When the tree fell on our roof, we emailed Charlene and within hours Armando patched the roof until the insurance could decide whether or not they would pay for it. Eric tried to get them to pay. Kemper insurance said they would not pay because it was an “act of god”. We just wanted the roof repaired. So we “self paid” for the repairs. 4- The Patio roof had a leak and they were on the repairs the next day, as warranty work. 5- We found that emailing with Charlene at their office was the most efficient and expedient way to get results for scheduling or answers to questions. 6- Charlene and Eric plan routine 2x year cleaning for the roof, similar to 2x year air conditioner maintenance. 7- The white coating did not stain during the oak pollen deluge in the spring. The green mostly cleared during the rains. 8- We hope this information helps you and you choose them to apply the reflective roof coating to your existing roof!
Description of Work: $12k was spent on 3 coats of energy star reflective white roof coating. We have received 2 CPS bills since the work was completed. Our Kwh /month reduced 25% since last year. We will also receive tax credits and CPS rebates on the work completed. $6k was spent on water damage repair and application of the same roof coating to waterproof the siding of our home. $11.75k was spent on repairing our main roof & replacing a faulty patio roof which the inspector missed diagnosing when we purchased the home. $250 was spent on installing a solar attic fan. $1.5k was spent, approx 8 weeks after the new roofs were completed, on repairing the hole in the new main roof, and small damage done to the main roof, after our next door neighbor’s 4000lb tree limb fell on it during the wind/rain storm of May 2010. The neighbor's insurance company, Kemper, refused to cover the damage because they said it was "an act of god". $500 was spent on having our solar cells reattached to the roof

We started out with a different roofing company, and although they were very courteous and professional, they could not find the source of the leak. We were then directed to Lone Star Roofing and Construction. I actually had some trouble scheduling the initial visit as they were booked until the following week, and they subsequently had to reschedule for the next week after that. They did come out on time, and Eric got to work straightaway. The total time he was working was about an hour, and he was able to identify a couple of the potential leak areas and treat them conservatively. He also provided a quote if we end up needing to do the extensive rework around the chimney. Eric explained the structure of the roof at that area and made it easy to understand the issues involved. All in all it was a pleasant experience.
Description of Work: We found the roof was leaking very slightly around the chimney during one of the recent rainstorms and ended up calling Lone Star Roofing & Construction to see if we could get it fixed. They came out to the house and identified the water damage inside the attic, which was hard to see because there had been so little of it. He then went up to the roof and found some nails that had been improperly placed around the chimney. He gave us two options, one of which was to try and caulk around the nails. The other more expensive option was to do a complete replacement around the chimney. He suggested that he caulk around the nails and if it was still a problem, he would be able to do the full replacement, for which he would send us an estimate. That same evening we received the estimate.

They did an excellent work, but, they were very unresponsive and that was frustrating. We would not use them again. We even had problems with getting the people to answer the phone. Some of the workers could not even understand English, but, when we complained to the owners that there was no one there to oversee when they only spoke Spanish; the owner told us that the workers did speak English, but, they had been told by the owner not to answer any questions. However, they had very good price because we had several quotes and they gave me the best one.

Shawn DeCento, the Owner and General Manager, handled my job personally and was very responsive and professional. With a number of skills required to do all the work, he integrated the tasks and produced the finished product. When the shingles started to show problems, Shawn represented me with the manufacturer warranty and re-roofed the house without delay.
