I contracted with Ron and Liza to sell my home. They are slightly more expensive than usual for a realtor, charging $500 extra on top of the typical 6% of the price of your home for "marketing fees". I'm not sure if this is standard, but it seems to me that marketing is part of what I am paying them 6% for. My home was on the market for about 8 months, with a few showings, and then I had a showing where the prospective buyer commented on the online feedback form that both the realtor and the seller see that they were very interested in my house. For a week I didn't hear anything from Ron or Liza. Finally I called them, and told them that a buyer had expressed interest in my home. This was news to Ron, who hadn't checked on the form. This interested party ended up being the buyer for my house. During negotiations, Ron quoted me a figure of money that I would have to bring to closing, since I was selling at a slight loss. I was able to handle the number, so I agreed to the price. Unfortunately, the day before closing the title company told me the number was double what Ron had previously quoted. I wondered at the time whether Ron's eagerness to sell my house, since it had been on the market for a long time, caused him to hurry the figures. Regardless, this was a significant strain on my finances. Over the few weeks between the deal and closing, Mr. Reyes or his secretary asked me to take pictures of repairs to the house as they were done, resend him emails I had previously written, and spend a lot of time on the phone with the title company. Typically, the "red tape" associated with selling a house is handled by a realtor, but not in this case. Additionally, there was a math error in the home inspection which forced me to pay about $100 to have my A/C unit serviced. Only after I paid for the service, and found that the A/C was working perfectly, was the math error in the inspection discovered. In short, yes, they sold my house, but at significantly more of a loss than they told me in negotiations, and I did a significant portion of their work for them. They failed to catch an error in the inspection report which would have saved me $100. I would not recommend them to another prospective seller.

My wife and I interviewed Liza and Ron Reyes to sell our home. PROS: Well connected within the real estate community. I believe Liza is the president of the San Antonio realtor association. They work as a team with their daughter and son-in-law. In 2011, the team sold about 97 homes. They presented a good plan for advertising on many web sites and other real estate related publications. CONS: Ron VERY MUCH led us to believe that he had sold 97 homes last year. In fact, he had sold about 25 homes. The TEAM had sold 97 homes. I found this to be significantly disingenuous. I was very turned-off by Ron's persona - during our meeting, it might as well have been the "See How Great Ron Is Show". I also was very turned-off by his extremely pushy manner and pushy follow-up contacts. This is a real shame because we really liked Liza. We just did not want to have to put up with Ron as part of the deal. They had very few listings selling in our area. They did have pockets of greater listings in other areas and we felt our listing would not get the attention it needed to sell. Overall, could they have sold our home. Yes. Could they have done so in a timely manner. Maybe. We were just so turned off by Ron's "I am Great persona" that we did not even wish to use them ..... and that is a shame for Liza and the rest of their team.
