They arrived on time to look at my project, took measurements. Made other great suggestions to what else I could do to improve my home. Then they ghosted me and I never heard back from them. It's been almost a month, no quote, no call, no nada.

It is beautiful and went just as we planned. Mac was absolutely the best. He was always there to answer question, help with the selections that went into making this beautiful renovation, and was a very good friend throughout the whole process. I can’t say enough good things about Mac! Because of him we were completely satisfied with the finished product and very happy with our home.

The remodel was almost a total remodel that included moving plumbing and some electrical work. The staff was always on time and very professional. Despite some setbacks, mostly wrong items sent and defective paint (Murphy’s Law), the team preservered until it was done correctly and I was happy. They were also very good about not damaging my wood floors leading to the work site and repainted areas that were nicked when carrying construction equipment. They also had my entire condo cleaned upon completion because of dust from the construction. Although it took longer then anticipated, the wait was well worth it.

The team at KM Builders is outstanding. Because we live out of town, they keep us updated daily with texts and photos. Questions and concerns are answered promptly and we are pleased with their workmanship. Without a doubt, I would recommend them again.

I can't speak highly enough for the work done by KM, particularly by Mac McDonald & Mike Garcia. They spent a lot of time finding out what we really wanted during the design process, & gave us many options & suggestions that we hadn't even considered. The building process itself was flawless! Mike & his team were able to get permits in a timely manor, & the work was completed faster than we expected. We were out of the country during much of the building phase, & Mike messaged us daily with the progress made. If there were issues, he let us know right away. We could make our own decisions, but based on our experiences with him we usually went with his suggestions. We were never disappointed, & we were grateful for his thoroughness, attention to detail, & experience. We would, without a doubt, use KM again if we want to do another major project in our house.

What can I say about Mike but that he did an outstanding job. He supervised the job site and corrected problems quickly before they became an issue. He is happy to see you but very Professional when dealing with clients and his team members. Mike responded quickly when called and handled each situation as soon as was possible. Even when we had a major issue Mike was easy to work with.

This is the sixth remodeling project that KM Builders has done for us over the past 20 years. Needless to say, we are very happy with their work and trust them completely with our home. For this latest project, Mike Garcia was the project manager. Mike has worked on many of our previous remodeling projects so we were familiar with his excellent carpentry skills and exemplary work ethic and we have always enjoyed working with him. This time, however, was the first time for us to have Mike as the project manager on a remodel. We found him so knowledgeable and helpful! Mike checked on workers daily, took care of delays, issues and "surprises" (and there are always surprises!) and helped to keep us informed about what was happening on the job. He used his knowledge and genuine caring to resolve issues and we so appreciated his demeanor. We are glad that Mike is in a management position and hope to work with him again. Our kitchen was officially finished yesterday and it is beautiful! We are so pleased with all the Professionals at KM Builders. From Kieth, General Manage, Mac & Bonnie, Design Consultants, Chad, back-up project manager, Louis, Painters, all the field workers; Rob, JD., Ray, Daryl, Derek, Erasmo, JPL Plumbing and especially, Mike Garcia, Project Manager, Thank you for another job well done!

We love how our home was transformed. KM Builders took the time to listen to our thoughts and ideas to help us design a better than we ever imagined new kitchen! Their process made our project run much smoother than expected. They made sure we were always informed with daily communication from our project manager (Mike Garcia) as to the work to be performed every day. Their attention to detail during the planning process helped them have everything needed for our project before they began construction, which decreased the actual construction time. We were impressed with the KM employees, all of whom were polite, courteous and cared about our project. We would definitely recommend using KM Builders to all of our friends and family.

KM Builders added an second story to our first home. Everyone always comments that it looks like it was originally built that way! Eric and all the design team did an incredible job designing it to our very specific requests! Our project manager Mike did a great job informing my family of the progress. The construction staff was always courtious and very knowledgable! I cannot recommend KM Builders more! Keith, the owner, and the Project Manager's are never more than a text away when I had a concern or question. Keith is a fantastic manager and the company really really reflects his passion! Even thought the construction process can be difficult ( as much as they try to keep dust out, there will be some dust lol it's pretty impossible not to have dust) they really try to make it as painless as possible! We love them so much that we are already in the works for building a mother-in-law suite on our newest home with this company!

The concrete pour was terrible, I give it a D-. They did not put a drip ledge on approach and now every time it rains all the garage doors leak water inside. The garage floor has huge dips in it and looks bad, plus it doesn't drain and holds water. I painted it to cover it up and it just brought it out more. The work on the exterior was Ok, they installed Hardy Blank and their subs did a good job, I give them a C on this work. The paint job was good, a solid B. The framing and construction subs, did a good job. Besides the concrete, I have 3 other big problems with KM's work. 1.The Portico/breezeway where it ties into the house leaks. I give him a D- on this work. They used 4x6 treated and covered them with hardy blank, it looks cheap and in the future, I plan on wrapping them with cedar. The biggest problem is the breezeway tie-in with the house, it leaks. The leak caused by KM’s poor workmanship at the tie-in of the roof of my home and breezeway has caused the soffit, fascia board on my home to rot out and it needs to be fixed. In spite of our efforts for the last 4 months to get KM and Keith Moehle, the owner to fulfill on their warranty for workmanship he has refused. Note: They issued and I have a 5 year workmanship warranty. When I had him come out to look at the warranty work on the portico/breezeway he said, “let me do the new roof and I will fix it (the leak and problem) when we do the roof”. See here in San Antonio, we had a big hail storm roll through and it messed up the roof and my insurance company is paying for a new one. The warranty work is a separate issue and frankly I do not want this man or his workers near my house again. Keith Moehle stated to me and then put in an email that “the Hail voided the warranty”, but these problems started way before the Hail Storm and he knows it. I filed a claim with Travelers to access the soffit and fascia damage and they said “it is obvious to anyone that does this for a living that the hail had nothing to do with this leak”, thus they denied the claim. 2. The electrical system They had to run a new hot lead and they just tied it in at the meter and never secured it per code. Now I have this big gray wire sticking out of my electrical meter, jammed into the attic and it is all wrong. 3. He is a strong arm salesman. I really believed in this man and his company. But a nice smile and smooth sales technique is not enough to hide the fact that he doesn't care about his customers. Had he fixed the portico leak and honored his warranty. I probably would not have reported him to the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Protection Agency. Problems happen with construction, in spite of the contractors effort, like leaks. But don't strong arm customers and then expect them to love you or give you a pass.
Description of Work: They built a 3 car garage and a breezeway from the garage to the house.

First and foremost, I have never complained publicly on any contractor. My husband and I hired KM builders to do a $400,000+ remodel. We met twice and gave a deposit of $5000 on August 27, 2015. At that meeting I requested a budget prior to our Sept 25 closing date (of the home we were purchasing to remodel). Keith M***** assured us that was plenty of time to get a budget and numbers in order to proceed with the purchase of our home. Today is Oct 13 and I do not have any bids, estimates or a budget and no work has commenced. We were assured a Nov 1 start date for our remodel. We are 2 weeks away from that start date and again: no budget, no design plan. From the time we gave our deposit to Oct 8, we have had little contact with their "customer service" oriented company. One week after hiring KM Builders, I was able to procure a copy of the original building plans and blue prints as well as current ones from the HOA. I hand delivered them to KM Builders who promised to copy them and return the next day. (On loan from the HOA). They were not returned 3 weeks later and I had to continually make phone calls to KM requesting the blueprints. I spoke with 3 different individuals on this and I should not have had to repeatedly ask. Finally they were returned 4 weeks after. Literally from Day 1, there was very little contact from them and it seemed to only be in response to me desperately reaching out asking: What is our timeline, when will we get prices, when is our next meeting, what do we expect next, how soon will we get a design plan, how soon will we have an estimate, when can we start ordering everything??? On October 2, my husband sent an email to Keith M*****, owner: "I need 2 questions answered: 1) When will you have a budget for us 2) When will you begin the remodel." On October 8, I finally met with the architect and design team and all they produced was a blueprint of the house. (This was useless to me as we already had a blueprint from the previous owners). I was told they needed to make sure it was correct, which I understand, however that was the ONLY thing that had transpired since we hired KM. They apologized profusely for getting backed up with other projects, lack of response, overstating their abilities. So much so that the lead interior designer sent this email to her co-workers and accidentally copied me: ".......... I think she (Stacey) is a bit frustrated in that she had hoped to see more progress since it has been 10 weeks since inception. She is making progress on the project with or without us and has already completed some of the original scope of work. So I do think it is important that we work diligently to bring her proposal to fruition so construction can start as soon as possible. I think we should go ahead and get started on the labor portion of the proposal so when I get selections completed we can just plug those numbers in and be ready to go. It would also be handy at this point to have the elevations of the master bath and a plan for flooring. Keith had originally promised a start date of November 1st and I think it’s important to try to stay as close to that as we can. As far as meetings are concerned I don’t think she loves the idea of traveling over here twice a week. If it is possible meet her at the house I think that would be preferable to her. She is a high end client and expects high end service and I fear she feels like we are dropping the ball..........." Thanks! Rebecca Q**** Interior Designer KM Remodeling ###-###-#### Additionally, the lack of follow up was tremendous with Keith M*****, Owner. On Sept 28th, 2015 I sent a picture with the following text: "Good afternoon Keith, 1-Can you give us an update on timeline? 2-I need to return original copies of house plans to the HOA. (In ur teams possession) " HIS RESPONSE: "I AM WORKING ON IT. GET WITH YOU SOON". (Today is October 15th and I never received another response). After careful review of the disappointing events that had transpired, we terminated their services and requested full refund of our $5000 deposit. Here is Keith M*****'s response: .......therefore there will not be a full refund. I will take some time to consider our next step. I wish this would have worked out. " Thanks, Keith M***** KM BUILDERS ###-###-#### My husband's response: "Keith, Therein lies the problem; to date, after all this time, we have not seen any work product substantially different from the drawings we supplied to you." My response: Keith, Yes this has been extremely disappointing. We have also incurred significant costs thus far including rental for $4000 month while we waited 10 weeks of down time. This caused us to have to extend our rental indefinitely. The start date was originally Nov 1, thru no fault of ours that date has not been met, nor will it. I have been on standby waiting for someone to contact me and before Kevin reached out via text to you asking for dates, there was radio silence. We moved forward with closing as we trusted the start date would be Nov 1, per our discussion in July. We have now incurred tremendous expenses such as taxes, HOA fees and utilities. Had you not promised us a start date of Nov 1, we would have postponed closing to a mutually beneficial time for all of us. Last week I was ONLY presented with a blue print of the home (which I already had presented that exact same blue print from previous owner to your staff). I think Rebecca's email outlined my frustration exactly. She said it best: "You have not met our expectations up to this point". "we are high end clients that expect high end service". The only design work Rebecca invested in was follow up on the items I selected. Per Erick's own words: "there are no architectural designs to be made, simply finish out". Our agreement with you was if we got all the way to pricing and did not like the design or price you would give us full refund of the deposit. I feel we are being considerate and not make you do anymore work so as not to incur anymore expenses. Someone from your end dropped the ball. Many deadlines have not been met. I was very adamant that I receive price quotes prior to our Sept 25th closing. I did not. Additionally, I ask you 2 different things via text, even sent pictures, your response was "I will find out and get right back to you", and on Sept 28th-- "I am working on it. Get with you soon" I never heard back on either. We have patiently waited for someone to reach out to us and only until Kevin sent a text in frustration asking for 2 dates from you did we hear any response. You will find us to be very fair, patient and honest people. Had your customer service been even minimal, at best, we would not be having this conversation. Considering it took 10 weeks to obtain your blueprints, only (which are not in our possession, nor do we need)
Description of Work: We hired KM Builders and paid a $5000 deposit. After 10 weeks we terminated our contract for non performance, before work had commenced. Never received any bids, plans, photos or start date after waiting patiently. We were on a timeline to begin and could not allow it to continue to drag on at their slow pace.

We attended a tour of remodeled homes in 2011 and asked two participating companies for design ideas and estimates. KM Builders had many great ideas and we chose them to do the work. They came up with a great design and with a few changes we asked for, began the actual remodeling work in March 2012. They gutted and remodeled kitchen and added a custom hutch in the breakfast room as well as a skylight. A wall between the kitchen and living room was removed and a new support beam installed. New tile floors were installed in the kitchen, breakfast room, hallway and entry. The kitchen ceiling was remodeled into a tray ceiling with a skylight, stained crown moulding and led lighting. They installed new gas lines so we could have a gas cooktop, reworked the plumbing, installed new fixtures, appliances, countertops, custom cabinets with led lighting, granite countertops,& tile backsplash. They also repainted the kitchen, breakfast room and scraped the popcorn ceiling in the living room and repainted it. They removed 4 half walls with spindles from the kitchen and dining room. In other words, they transformed our outdated 80"s kitchen and made it into a showpiece. We are extremely happy with the remodel. The cabinets were custom made by a great company here in San Antonio and they are beautiful as well as very functional.

The KM team did a great job and the quality of the finished product was outstanding. Although we were extremely particular, Keith was very patient and helped us understand every aspect of the project. The entire building process went as plan and the quality of the products was just as described. Even after years of sunlight, the cedar was never re-stained and looked beautiful. We recently sold our home after 15 years of celebrations and fond memories on our patio. During the process, we had multiple offers, all because everyone loved our cedar covered patio!!

Design work went really well and as a result went with KM whose price was more than others. Early interactions seemed to support price premium and set high expectations. Project suffered from turn-over in on-site supervisors. This combined with rainy weather delayed final completion. Unfortunately, concrete work was sub-par (this was done by subcontractor). KM repaired where needed and offered to remove concrete slab for porch and replace at their cost. However, deck work was nearly complete and we elected to leave it. The wood work for the deck and screened in porch is excellent -- the carpenters did an outstanding job and we have beautiful new outdoor spaces to complement our home.

I must say the final product is everything we wanted and we consistently receive positive feedback and fantastic compliments from everyone that see's the work that was done. This is our first home so we were the typical indecisive couple not knowing what we wanted. The first thought was have a mix between the existing tile and new wood floors in the living room and reading room. But after some consideration and searching online, we came to our senses and decided to get tile throughout the first floor. The next step was choosing a contractor for the work and picking the right tile. Using Angie's list and some recommendations we eventually went with KM Builders. Keith (owner) came to our home, got the measurements and we arrived at a price. The sincerity I felt from Keith, helped my decision to sign the contract. For the next few weeks, Brian (flooring specialist) came to our home and helped give us some further advice and was instrumental in us picking the right tile. Because of his expertise, we were able to get a beautiful piece at a reasonable price straight from the manufacturer. Once everything was set, it took some follow-up on my part to get a firm start date. I'm sure this can be typical for a company that has many projects. My only recommendation to KM is "keep your customer aware of any delays". Prior to work start, we met with the Project Manager (Luis) to discuss final details. Like everyone else he was very professional and courteous. From the time work started to the end, the crew was awesome. They started on-time, worked late, ensured my property was well protected from any debris. They took pride in their workmanship and it showed in final product. In my opinion the price was high but I'd much rather pay for high quality work and be totally satisfied than save a few dollars for subpar work and product. I highly recommend KM Builders for your project(s).

The wanted to set up a weekday appointment on July 15 during working hours, which I felt was unnecessary given the small scope of work required (the balcony is ~6x12 ft). I replied on July 8th explaining that i'd just like to get a ballpark estimate of the cost, explaining in detail that the tile and decking would need to be torn out and replaced. I told them that for estimating purposes they could assume we would use the same material that was there already (slate). I gave them the dimensions, and sent them about 8 detailed photos for them to reference for their estimate. I was emailed again on July 9, and was told that they received my request with the photos and would "try their best" to get an estimate to me. After not having received any word for over two weeks, I emailed them on July 25 asking when or if I could expect to receive an estimate, and that if they did not intend to provide one, to please let me know so I could move forward and look for other options. Today is August 9 and I have still not received a reply to that email. I am moving forward. I consider this company to be rather unprofessional in their lack of response. A remodeling company as experienced as KM could have put together an estimate for a job this small in 15 minutes. Perhaps that is the problem, and that they considered the job too small for them. If that were the case, I would have appreciated a response to that effect and would have accepted and understood it. But please don't pretend like you're going to provide something and then just leave a potential customer hanging.
Description of Work: I requested an estimate to tear out and replace the tile on a 2nd floor balcony, which they said they would provide, so I guess the correct answer is 'nothing'.

The salesman came to the house and did measurements and gave advise, afterwards he said that he had to go back to office and do calculations and provide computer images, then he called us to drive to his office to check out the results, office is 25 miles from our house, after viewing and discussing the project with them for about 2 hours it was way over priced compared to the 2 other estimates we got from recommendations from our neighbors.
Description of Work: Provided estimate on Kitchen remodel.

Keith, who seems like a nice enough guy, has decided there is nothing more they can do to fix their poor work, but he did offer to do other work on our house for free in exchange. No thanks!
Description of Work: We wanted to remove a pole from our back deck and resurface the entire deck with stained concrete. What was supposed to be a 3 week project turned into an EIGHT MONTH project and in the end I have a concrete deck that is cracked, discolored, and generally poor quality. So poor that the owner Keith says they will no longer do poured concrete decks in the future - well, that doesn't help ME does it!

We were delayed on the start because of weather but once the roofers started work progressed seamlessly. The project manager, Victor was on site often and was very responsive with answers to any questions we had. Victor gave us the original quote and recommended shingle type and color. We are extremely happy with the selection we made. We have used KM Remodeling in the past for other projects and choose them for this re-roof project because of their professionalism, workmanship, guarantee, price, and the quality of work just completed on an addition this year. They tied the new roof in with the addition and everything looks great. The house has tremendous curb appeal now.
Description of Work: Remove existing roof (complete) and install 30yr dimensional shingle roof, new lead vent pipe flashings, replace metal valleys, install solar attic vents and sky tube, install 86 of of ridge vent and more.

For our very simple addition (480 sq ft interior, 420 sf exterior porch, 1,100 sf just roof for carport)... they wanted $175,000. That is INSANE! There was NO plumbing, no bathrooms, nothing complicated except the addition electrical. I wanted framing and drywall, the only special thing I wanted was a gas fireplace. They charge standard 17% overhead... just add it to your total (of labor, materials, etc) and into their pocked and additional 12.5% on top of that number for profit... INSANE! But that is completely aside the fact they wanted to charge $14,000 to paint 4 small rooms and $9,000 for interior trim (not including the actual doors or windows) An honest company will charge 15% overhead, just to look over the project, and that is fine. That number does not go to laborers, or anyone but the builder. For a small 2 month job, apparently overseeing the job, KM wanted $38,000. I am went to school for architecture and construction management and this behavior is just wrong. It is highway robbery! So if you are unfamiliar with the construction field... (first don't use KM) but if you still want to, get 3-4 other bids and realize that KM is not worth it.
Description of Work: We had KM come out to do a bid for aVERY simple addition (12'x20')... simple box and porch.

They've had to come out regularly because it kept leaking around our fireplace. The original business, KM Construction, was dissolved. Keith, the owner then started KM Builders and he came out afterwards he had lost his head roofer, but was still coming out to do the repair work. Shortly after that, we noticed that shingles were coming off of our roof and we had our insurance provider come out to take a look and they said that the 30-year roof was of very low quality. When we contacted him after we learned that, he came over to our house with several other people and belittled me. We have gone to the BBB to file a complaint, and we ultimately ended up having to do the repairs ourselves. Even so, we need to have our roof replaced.
Description of Work: They were supposed to install a 30 year roof for us.
