This project was a nightmare and is resulting in legal action against the contractor. Here is a brief status of the project: The team never worked a full day, which was due to be completed on March 20. They constantly blamed the weather; however, even on clear days, they would arrive late and leave early. Demo all beds in back yard - This seems to be the one area they did fairly well. Grade yard with soil - The added no more than a 1/4 of soil to the grass area and every landscaper will tell you that a foundation of new soil is essential to establishing a healthy lawn. The 1/4" of soil was placed on top of rock hard ground because we had no grass for an extended period / no watering of the ground. Chopped Block - They installed the block and there were chunks missing from over 10 of them. I insisted they be replaced. They failed to level the block. There were areas where the block stuck up 6 inches and others where they stuck up 2" Build landings outside of main doors - They "built" brick landings outside the two doors. Unfortunately, they are not at all level and even have gaps in the concrete. We've been told by multiple contractors the steps are unsafe and need to be demolished. Mortar has already began falling out from under the brick. Place pavers over existing concrete patio - We stopped them from completing this, because the brick was unlevel and the pattern wasn't being lined up. Rework entire sprinkler system - After we terminated their contract and being told the sprinkler system only needed "final testing", we discovered little work was done and there was a live head under the deck, one zone was in the flower beds and the grass area (which results in overwatering plants or underwatering grass). Lay sod - was terminated before he could do this work Install all new plants in beds - They threw new, clumpy soil into the beds. They never leveled any of it, so it goes up and down across the beds. They left large rocks all over from digging up to plant. Then, they threw mulch (pine straw) haphazardly. Some areas received over 8" of pine straw and others received less than 1". Relocate flagstone from one area to another / level the flagstone - They moved 2/3 of the flagstone and then threw mulch down and shoved it between the cracks. There were exposed landscape wiring they left and also shoved between the cracks. The contractor ran out of money near the end and asked us to give him more money before finishing the project. We chose to end the contract.
Description of Work: Contractor was supposed to complete the following: Demo all beds in back yard. Grade yard with soil Edge with chopped block Build landings outside of main doors Place pavers over existing concrete patio Rework entire sprinkler system Lay sod Install all new plants in beds Relocate flagstone from one area to another / level the flagstone

THE BACKYARD TURNED OUT GREAT AND THEY DID A GREAT JOB LEVELING THE YARD WHILE STILL MAKING IT LOOK VERY NATURAL. THE ESTIMATE WAS VERY REASONABLE AND THEY COMPLETED THE WORK WITHIN THE TIME FRAME THEY GAVE US (ONE WEEK). THEY ALSO DID A GOOD JOB NOT DESTROYING THE REST OF THE YARD OR TREE ROOTS WITH THE MACHINERY THEY HAD TO BRING IN TO EXCAVATE THE ROCKS. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.
Description of Work: OUR BACKYARD WAS EXTENDED BY ABOUT 11 FT BACK AND 76 FEET ACROSS - A STONE RETAINER WALL WAS INSTALLED AFTER EXCAVATING THE YARD OF LARGE ROCKS; SOIL TO FILL PLANTERS, ST. AUGUSTINE SOD, AND STONE STEPS WERE ALSO INSTALLED.
