Jeff pulled a bait and switch on the grade of paint. I had requested a specific paint, which is a premium grade of paint. He had agreed to that. However, when he showed up, he had a different paint. When I asked about it, he stated that it was just as good. In fact, it was even better, he said, because it provided "better coverage." I didn?t know any better, so I went ahead and let him use it. Afterward, when I was having another room painted by a different contractor, I checked with the paint store and found out Jeff had brought a contractor grade of paint, and the manager of the paint store said that it does not cover nearly as well as the one I had originally requested. Also, the one I had requested has a lifetime warranty. They one Jeff brought does not. I also discovered that the premium paint I wanted costs about $15 more per gallon. If Jeff had objected to paying the higher price, I would have gladly made up the difference in the price in order to get the paint I wanted. But to lie to me about the quality and attributes of the paint was unforgiveable. There were, in fact, many problems with the coverage of that paint. I didn?t notice it till he was finished and paid. Afterward when I had time to scrutinize the job, I found literally hundreds of small white dots all over my walls. This is apparently where the paint had formed bubbles. When the paint dried, the bubbles burst and left small white dots where the new paint did not cover the original paint. I also found areas around the medicine cabinets, around the window return, around the trim of the door to the bathroom, the door to the water closet, around the tub enclosure, around the mirror and light fixture, where he did not paint go all the way up to the edge where he was supposed to stop. I spent over 2 hours doing touch ups myself to clean up after Jeff and his crew. I still have a half inch gap that didn?t get painted around the trim inside the water closet and another around the medicine cabinet. In one area where one wall is an accent color, I have about a half inch wide strip of one wall color over on the other wall, which is supposed to be the other color. I didn?t notice these when I did the first round of touch ups, so I will have to touch these up myself when I get the paints out again. Jeff also got spatters of the wall paint on at least 8 areas of trim, and he didn?t clean it up. Some of it I noticed and asked him to clean up when he came back on the second day to finish. He said he had taken care of all of the touch ups, but he didn?t. The toilet had drips and spatters of paint on it, as well as the wall switches, the tile floor, the vanity top, the sinks, the shower floor, and the bathtub. A huge area of wall trim in the water closet had spatters of the new paint that I could tell was from the roller spattering. There was no attempt made to clean any of this up. Jeff painted the door to the bathroom with oil paint and did not get good coverage on the door, either. I don?t know if this was due to poor quality of paint or poor technique. Not only that, the oil paint dripped and got smeared onto the tile floor, the door hardware, a towel rack, and the sink faucet. When I pointed out the oil paint smears and asked him to clean them off, he did make a half hearted attempt to clean some of them off with some paint thinner and his bare hand and also a dirty rag. However, he apparently still had oil paint on his hands and rag because he put even more smears onto the door knobs he was attempting to clean. He even got oil paint smears on the door knob to my front door on his way out, and he wasn?t even painting anything in that area. I finally got so disgusted; I just wanted him out of my house. So I decided I would clean up the rest myself. I have had other painters to paint other rooms in my house and have learned that most of them give a one year warranty and are willing to come back to do touch ups or fix problem areas. However, Jeff told me when he was leaving that he gives no warranty. I will never use this painter again.
