IRONWOOD CONNECTION

The design was good and the owner was very knowledgeable. I like my new stairs and would have given them a good except for the following: 1. Glued the baluster shoes to the floor instead of screwing them to the base. This made it very difficult for the painters to stain the wood. It also will be difficult in the future to restain the wood. This seemed like a shortcut which was not discussed with me. 2. Spilled glue on the stair floor wood so when it was stained the stain was not absorbed evenly. 3. Did not finish off the first floor baseboard trim in the same style as it was originally. Basically they left part of the wall without the trim which matches the rest of the room. 4. There were other issues such as the supervisor never came to my house and the installer seemed to sub out the work to a relative.

It went very well. James came over with pictures, we'd already looked on their website and were amazed. He counted the balusters and emailed us an example of what he thought would look good. I liked his suggestions, but asked for others. After a couple of weeks we agreed on a style. It was interesting because he suggested a style that matched the style of our fireplace. It is absolutely awesome. I'm sure I've recouped my money 3 fold with this upgrade. Three men showed up on the agreed day, none spoke a lick of English, and did a very good job. Although, there is no finish out, meaning that any paint pulled up or holes that aren't completely covered by the wrought iron is not sealed by them. If the balusters don't fit the original opening, then it is up to the homeowner to take care of that. But, all worked out very well and we only have a couple places that need TLC.
