This is a husband and wife team. (Jeff and Elizabeth Hansen.) They showed up late to work several days. Two days they showed up around noon and worked late into the night. I had to explain to them that I get up at 5:30 am and work all day and it never occurred to me that they would want to work late into the night and show up so late each day to work. I asked if they working on another job and they told me no. They then started showing up at 9am. They tiled and grouted the kitchen on Tuesday and left dry grout dust in the house until I requested that they clean it up on Saturday. This was the wife's third time grouting and there was clearly a difference in the tile she grouted and what the husband grouted. At first, the tile from the kitchen to the existing tile was so crooked and offset that I had to insist that he redo it even though both he and his wife acknowledged that it looked terrible. He did fix it; however, it took several hours and they wasted tile doing it. The pieces of laminate he put over the tile/laminate junction are coming loose in several places. I called him on a Tuesday and he said he would be out Friday morning to fix it. He never showed up and would not return my phone calls. He also used a much larger, plastic material to replace the wood 1/4 round that I had around my baseboards. I'm assuming he did this because the materials were cheaper and he had big gaps to cover. He also told me that he would tile an existing ledge that I have going into a shower. The tile was cut so crooked (by the wife) that it had a lip over it and I felt like it was a safety issue. He also used adhesive to glue the tile down onto the 2 by 4?s and some of the tiles popped up so I told him not to bother grouting it. I like giving independent contractors work. However, after this experience I've decided it's best to use a chain store or business for this type of work. I have no way of making Jeff Hansen honor his claim of warranty on work and this really is a business owner who is lying about warrantying his work. The wife is in training and spends much of her time "handing" him things. She would say things like "Darlin how does this look?", "What can I get you Darlin??, I guess this represents the family part of their business and unfortunately it puts them way behind schedule.
Description of Work: Carpet was removed in a dining room and family room where laminate flooring was put down. In the kitchen, linolium was removed and replaced with tile.
