 + 0 moreThey're excellent. Ten years ago they started their residential, I didn't know it or I would have used them starting then. They really know what they're doing. When they were talking about the old system when they were servicing it, they were explaining it a new guy on the job and I learned a lot about the system. He did something to fix it and got it fixed. Their service call is $50.
Description of Work: I did use Gillette A/C Co. Inc for our air conditioning.

Description of Work: INSTALLED A 5 TON CARRIER A/C WITH ALL OPTIONS ETC. PROMISED REBATES FROM GEVC OF ABOUT 600.00 FILED PAPER WORK OUT AND SENT TO GEVC TX. AND THEY SENT ME A SORRY ABOUT THAT LETTER IN RETURN SAYING GILETTE A/C CO. INC. HAD NOT COMPLETED THEIR COURSE AND WAS NOT QUALIFIED FOR RESIDENCE INSTALLATION. THERFORE I COULD NOT RECEIVE THE GEVC REBATE. BOTTON LINE IS THAT I SENT ALL THE PAPER WORK TO GILETTE CO. PER THEIR INSTRUCTIONS AND THEN I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING FROM GILETTE UNTIL ABOUT EIGHT MONTHS LATER WHEN AN INDIVIDUAL FOUND MY PAPER WORK AND WANTED TO KNOW WHAT HE COULD DO. I SAID NOTHING AS I TRANSFERED MY SERVICE TO SA SPECIALTIES HERE IN SAN ANTONIO. GILETTE A/C LIED TO ME AND I WAS CHEATED OUT OF MY REBATE WITH GEVC BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME WRONG. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GILETTE A/C CO. INC. TO ANYONE WHO WANTS RESIDENTIAL A/C SERVICE.

 + -1 moreWe were very unhappy with this company!!! Our AC went out on August 6th and we call gillette to send someone out. This did happen however the man that came said that the board was fried and he couldn't fix it. He charged us $125 for basically nothing. After spending the entire weekend with no AC we called our usual company on Monday. They came out and had the unit running in 30 minutes or less by replacing one small piece on the board. They felt any AC repairman should have been able to do this. We paid them $152 and have had AC since. I will NEVER use Gilette again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: Basically all he did was look at the unit and say he can't fix it and charged $125.

 + -1 moreGillette is highly skilled as their main business until a few years ago was only commercial. They arrive on time and are pretty matter of fact about the whole deal. No nonsense. On the service call, they were here and gone in 30 minutes. They offerred to refund the service if I bought the new unit from them. Please Note, I had been waiting for the unit to sing its final tune, but it hung in at half capacity until it was replaced. And the bill was still under $300. FYI, I still intend to use my last A/C checkup with Gillette when winter is coming and see if they detect any installation deficiencies. But my A/C is better now than it has been in several years.
Description of Work: I have an A/C Service agreement with Gillette for an a/c check twice each year. Between checks, the 20 yr old a/c was not performing well and I had them out. Freon was down and had to be added. A/C Evaporator was stopped up and only half way performing. I got bid from a fellow who came out the next day for $7000 to $8500 depending upon the unit. I did not use them to replace the A/C, but actually spent more on a unit with a larger SEER which had what seemed to be some better features from Shafer. Still awaiting 1st utility bill and will report on Shafer then. Hope I made the right call. No snub to Gillette. They are the real deal, as is Shafer, in folks who know what they are doing. I am hoping my utility bill will be reasonable, as my wife is having Hot Flash issues and is running the A/C at 70 degrees, 24/7. Pray for me!

 + -1 moreThis is my second inspection. I just want to make sure everything is working properly. There is usually a 3 hour window or block of time as to when the representative will arrive. Each visit the representative has called to inform me approximately when he would arrive. Upon arrival, he checked out my heating unit and checked out my A/C unit outside and lets me know it anything is running low, measurements etc. Also, check's filter and all necessary components. Very Professional, Very Nice and answers my questions and explains everything. Gillette also offers a regular maintence plan where in they come twice a year to inspect ($149 for 2 inspections). This maintence agreement is paid in inadvance and one which I also sign up for. I have been very pleased and happy with my service. Gillette gets a A+ from me.
Description of Work: Tune-Up/Routine Inspection, lubrication, adjustment and safety testing, cleaning of heating and cooling system.

 + 0 moreTechnician came the day before and evaluated the job. Service call was an additional $75.00. The following day he came at the time we had determined and brought another person who is very experienced in the work. The job was completed quickly. I am very pleased with all aspects of my dealings with Gillette.
Description of Work: After having remodeling done in my home, ducts had been compromised. Gillette replaced the 38 year old ducts with flex and sealed the trunk line.

 + -1 moreI found them on angies list, read the review and called them long distance. I explained that my realtor would need to meet them at the house. I called them at noon Texas time and they had met my realtor and gave the estimate by 2:30. My realtor set it up for them to do the work on Friday the 22nd. The work was done on time and efficiently. I would recommend this company to anyone. I believe they also removed a birds nest and replaced a vent in the attic as well.
Description of Work: My realtor took care of having this company replace 6 airducts leading from the attic. They came out to give the estimate within a few hours of my calling them from my home in Washington State. We were preparing to sell our rental property of 20 years and this work needed to be completed before the closing date of December 28, 2007. The holiday season is so busy and for this company to do such a great job within such a short time frame and at a very good cost ratio is phenomenal. We were very impressed and the house sale closed on schedule. I can not thank them enough.

 + 0 moreGillette Heating and Air Conditioning did a great job explaining what specifically needed to be done. I was very pleased with them. The job was done properly and didn't take a long time to do. They were up in the attic and didn t mess anything up around the house. They didn't make a mess at all when cleaning the ducts. Our cooling unit works a lot better now. I really appreciated their honesty and it showed me that they were trustworthy. They are a very fine company and did a great job.
Description of Work: They repaired our air conditioner by cleaning the duct work and put in new attic filters. The technician installed new phenions in the attic that go to the air conditioner which keeps the ducts from molding and mildewing.

 + -1 moreGillette did a very good job. I don't know how big of a job it actually is to clean out some ducts. However, they did the job very quickly. Gillette was not here for a very long time, they were kind of in and out. The people were really great. There were two men who had come. They were very professional and carried much respect for my home and me. There was not much of a mess left after they were done. They seemed to have cleaned everything correctly. I believe they charged me about $9 per duct. I did not think that was to extreme. I would hire them again in the future.
Description of Work: Gillette was hired to come to my home and clean the air ducts throughout the house.
