Gilbert's Fencing

Gilbert showed up on time. I asked him for a price to stain the fence and gate after completion and he quoted $100, saying that the material is very expensive, over $50. I agreed. I was not at home when he fiihsed and when I returned I found he had only treated one side of the fence. I phoned and left a message asking him to return and finish, he never did, leaving me to complete the job. I learned that the quart of material he used was $16 at Home Depot, so the $100 charge was outrageous. About a month after the fence and gate were installed we had a good rain and the gate would not close. I phoned and left a message asking for him to return and make the necessary repairs. No response. Phone again, left a message, no response. I ended up spending an afternoon doing the job myself and doing it the way should have been done to begin with. Obviously, I would never do business with this fellow again and I would caution anyone to avoid Gilbert's Fences - poor work, even poorer customer service.
