They arrived on time did an excellent job and cleaned up after themselves. I will use this company again for my plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Installed a water softening system. This involved rerouting the water inlet lines and installing two outside valves for untreated water as well as the softener.

They did a really good job. The price seemed a little high, but it could have been market value. They did a great job with the sodering and finishing. They were very curteous and quick. It did end up taking longer than we expected, but other then that it was a good experience.
Description of Work: They replaced some piping that was leaking behind the shower.

It went phenomenal. My wife received detailed reports every day on activities. The contractor was very professional and courteous. He took care of the permits and left us very satisfied as customers.
Description of Work: Replaced existing electric water heater with an energy efficient gas water heater, including re-plumbing to new location outside the home. Added a new "Scale-Stop" system to treat hard water.

It’s a problem that had occurred at least 3 times before when we were under a home warranty company. We stopped that and decided to go on our own. The plumber from George Plumbing Co Inc. did a fantastic job. I would rate him as the best out of all the plumbers we have had. I would give them a five star. We are not under warranty at the moment. So, the plumber charged us about $300. His pricing is high, but you get what you pay for. It would have been nice if he was $100 less. I would give him a high grade as long as we don’t have the problem again. This problem had been recurrent and only time will tell if his job was excellently done. However, his price was worth it. We would definitely use George in the future too if any other problems occur. The next insurance plan that we are looking at allows us to choose our plumbers.
Description of Work: George Plumbing Co Inc. fixed a leak for us about two months ago. We had a leak in our plumbing that was leaking inside our house from the walls.

Doug & Kody came out to see what was going on with my water pressure. Turns out the former home owner thought he was Bob Villa when in actuality, he was Tim- the-Tool-Man-Taylor. The "Tool-Man" had gotten creative with the water softener and incorrectly installed the softener without a by-pass system plus he used the overflow line from the house as a pipeline. He also did not install a expansion tank to take the pressure off the water heater which damaged the PRV valve thus causing the loss of water pressure in the house. Once prices were quoted & the go ahead was given, Doug & Kody were able to fix the PRV valve that day and restore the water pressure. They also recommended that a expansion tank be added to the water heater otherwise the new PRV valve's shelf life would be very short. Doug took the time to explain how my water softener system worked (we moved from Hawaii where we didn't have them) and recommended at some point that we should consider a by-pass line so we could still have a water flow should the softener go bad. Because compatible parts had to be ordered from Sears, they could not complete the by-pass that day, but the main issue was resolved and that wasn't a problem for them to come back another day. They came back a few days later to fix the by-pass, fixed the overflow line so should the sewer line backup, it would flow out of the house instead of into the water softener system. They were also nice enough to remove the osmosis tank under my kitchen sink that I never used. They boxed it up and Kody carried the heavy tank & all the parts to our outside storage shed after he drained the tank. When I told Doug that I planned to sell it on Craig's list, he kindly advised me not to take less than a specific dollar amount for the system which I appreciated, since I had no idea how much to list it for. Only glitch was when I went to turn on my sprinkler system, they had forgotten to turn the valve back on. No biggie....they were able to explain it over the phone & said if I couldn't get the valve to turn, they'd come out & do it for me which I appreciated,. They will be the ones I call whenever I have a plumbing issue. I appreciated their honesty, effort and are all around nice guys!
Description of Work: The house kept losing water pressure so after the city verified I was getting water pressure, they recommended I get the water softener checked to see if the line was blocked.

The plumber showed up on time, I received a phone call about 20 minutes beforehand that he was on his way.
Description of Work: The plumber fixed an leaking outside faucet. He saw that there was a PVC extension on the faucet that was not needed and removed it. He also put on a device that would prevent water from backflowing since we use the faucet to fill the swimming pool.

We needed a new water heater. I looked at information for various plumbers and liked the products offered by Georges. Our house also had no water softener, so I was interested in that also. I talked to Clay on the phone and looked at the details of the products he had to offer. He sent detailed information and answered all my questions. We finally made choices on the water heater and selected an anti-scaling device instead of a traditional water softener. The products were costly, but supposed to be high quality. Two separate crews were scheduled and arrived as planned. All work was performed with no problems. Clay kept in touch to make sure everything worked as intended. Since the anti-scaling device does not soften the water, only prevents the calcium from making deposits, we were somewhat disappointed. In order to ensure our complete satisfaction, Clay had a reverse osmosis water purifier installed at the sink at no extra charge. He followed up to make sure we were happy, which we were. Around one month later our garbage disposal failed. We did not hesitate to call Clay for a replacement and were very happy with the product and service. We will continue to use Georges for all our plumbing needs.

I traced and located a plumbing line leak that turned out to be inside the concrete slab on grade foundation. George Plumbing was one of three Angie's List plumbers to diagnose the problem and provide estimates. After I spent days finding the leak myself and lining up plumbers to quote the work, time was running long on the leak flow. It was dripping primarily into a brick ledge on an exterior wall. Some baseboard damage was occuring and the base course of the exterior brick was becoming very moist. George Plumbing was one of the last plumbers I was able to get a quote from due to circumstance but not their fault. I am glad they came. Doug and Kody showed up on time and with a call-ahead as promised. Doug offered a different diagnosis that others dismissed. Most thought the line went to a kitchen sink. Using his experience he offered that it served a powder room lavatory. Later diagnostic work would prove he was right. Due to time constraints immediate corrective action was authorized by me and taken by George Plumbing to stop the leak and in doing so, provide further diagnosis. They capped the line and provided a better estimate. They charged about $160 for this repair/diagnostic work. This first step was done on Monday 5/3/10. The next day, Tuesday 5/4/10, they performed a reroute of the offending hot water manifold line. The work required about 30 ft. of new line. The reroute work cost about $1,100. They took extra care to minimize drywall damage and thus making cosmetic repairs easier. They made an extra effort to avoid wall and ceiling damage in the highly visable entry hallway. They left only a couple of open holes in other places and replaced sheetrock where possible. This was a welcome surprise and greatly appreaciated since it will be awhile before I can have the sheetrock repaired. They also recomended a pressure reducing valve (PRV) and expansion tank because the water line pressure was measuring from 106 to 115 pounds per square inch (psi). We chose to do this work to help reduce the risk of future leaks. This required them to dig up the yard to place a new valve and box. The work was performed in an excellent manner. They even saved and replaced sod in the yard area. The inside work (expansion tank) near the water heater was done equally well. The PRV and expansion tank work cost $700 and was performed on 5/4/10 and 5/5/10. Their overall service is professional, courteous, and of great quality. I think we shall always have a preference for George Plumbing Co. for future work. I strongly recommend them.
Description of Work: A plumbing supply line leak in the foundation was correctly diagnosed/repaired and the bad line was rerouted (approximately 30 ft.). They also installed a pressure reducing valve (PRV) and expansion tank. This required them to dig up the yard (about 3'x3'x2') to place a new valve and box.

They were prompt, efficient, professional and pleasant. We had had a terrible problem with a previous company who were dishonest, no-showed 5 times, overcharged and charged for work they had not even done! We were very pleased with the gentleman who helped us, and he even wrote a note for use confirming that there was no evidence of previous attempts to repair the line. Great company, will definately use them again.

Roy, the gentleman who did the repair work, was prompt, friendly, professional, and thorough. He thoroughly checked his work. He thoroughly cleaned up after himself. I do not know about the relative pricing because we needed the work done and I did not get many estimates. We liked Roy and went with this company.
Description of Work: We called George Plumbing after finding them well recommended on Angie's List. (We had previously had a terrible experience with a plumber referred by our home warranty company and since it the problem was outside the home, the home warranty co. did not cover the expense. We tried to use that company and it was a big mistake. After all is settled with them, I will rank them poorly on this site.) Anyway, we then found George Plumbing. They were professional, prompt, friendly and a welcomed change from the prior company with whom we had been trying to work. They suggested that we run a camera through the pipe line (an extra 350.00) to video the damage, which we did. The main sewer pipe was broken and tree roots had entered the piping. Ten feet had to be dug up and replaced (from the house to the septic tank). This price included the 10' pipe replacement and warranty.

They said it was $75 to come out. He couldn't find out how to turn the water back on to discover where the leak was coming from, but he told me that I wasn't getting water and needed to call the water department. I paid him the $75 without any fixing to my leak, and he left. The city water man came out, and turned the water on because it just wasn't turned on all the way! The repair man should have known how to do that, and I paid him for nothing! I will never call George Plumbing again!

First off, George (the owner) called and talked with me at length about what the heater was doing, and what exactly was wrong with it. This really was a plus in my book, having the owner check out the planned job. Then Doug and Kody came out, checked everything out including the roof jack and vent, and proceeded to remove the heater and place the proper header on it. They also replaced the old gas valve with one up to code, and checked for leaks very thoroughly. Doug was great, so friendly and his son Kody (his apprentice) was just as nice. After checking everything out, moving the thermostat, and firing up the heater to check it, they cleaned up everything, and made sure the heater was coming on and shutting off as it should. I wish now I had George replace the old heater to begin with, as they were very professional and knowledgeable, and showed me what they were doing, and didn't mind me watching them do all this work. Doug even said if there had been any weird problem, George himself would have come out to check it out. This is a long established company in San Antonio, and I can see why folks Yell For George! Thanks Doug, Kody & George!
Description of Work: Brand new wall heater that was installed by a third party was not working right, cutting off with the vent-limit safety switch. I yelled for George, and was very pleased with the service. They removed the heater, installed the proper header (my third party installer used the old one), moved the thermostat to a better place, checked the venting to the roof, checked for gas and carbon monoxide leaks, and reinstalled the heater the way it was supposed to be.

The plumber came on time, provided an estimate, got the parts and did the work as expected. The job involved a tub that had not been used for perhaps 10 years and that brought complications. The plumber persevered and 95% of the job was well done. The last part involved replacing part of the drain, and that was so corroded that the plumber said he might gouge the tub trying to get the part out and replaced. I decided not to risk it and that left me with a job not completed. But I don't know enough about the work to say whether there were options he didn't offer me. It is entirely possible that the plumber did exactly what he should have done. Nonetheless, I can't say this was totally "A" experience on my end, although it was close to it.

Shawn and helper Mike arrived on time. Shawn asked about the problem (little or no hot water at kitchen sink and bathtub). He asked to check the water heater (it's less than a year old) and found the setting to be about 10 degrees too low. He then did some tests by shutting off different hot/cold water lines and determined the Moen valves were bypassing, allowing cold/hot water to flow depending on where the handle was. They took out the old cartridges and found they were very corroded. They replaced the cartridges and the faucets had hot water instantly!
