We had a livingsocial coupon to have these guys check out our A/C unit and clean it, as per the coupon. We also wanted them to take a look at a specific component in the A/C unit and give us an idea of how much it would cost to get it replaced. The main phone number is essentially some dude's cell phone number. I called on a Thursday morning, and when I stated that I have a livingsocial coupon, he cut me off and told me to go online to explain what I needed and I would receive a call to set up an appointment for Friday or Saturday. No big deal. I get a call the next day and am told that the technician will come by at 11:00. He showed up at 11:50. A little late, but once again not a huge deal. The guy cleaned the A/C unit, checked the freon levels, said the levels were good and that nothing needed to be done. I pointed out that since the unit was still under warrenty, I wanted a specific component to be replaced. The technician said his boss would call us Monday to set up and appointment to give us an estimate. Essentially, we spent money for a coupon to have a guy show up and wash our A/C unit with our hose. Not worth it. Monday rolled around and at 11 AM, we received no phone call. I called the technician and he said his boss would call us right away. 6 PM rolled around and still no phone call so I called again. I was told the exact same thing. Tuesday rolls around and still no phone call. We call the main number and when we explain that we are trying to set up and appointment to get an estimate, the boss guy says "We don't do estimates like that, call someone else" and hangs up. That is not very good customer service. I couldn't tell you if they do quality work because they did nothing. I can say they appear to be very disorganized, and have no idea what customer service is.

It was a terrible experience.
Description of Work: Last year our air conditioner began to gradually go out. We were renting a home and Genie Air was the company assigned to us. They were contacted by the rental company were very responsive and came to the house that same evening! The man assessed the problem and said he would return within a day or two. Then on a Friday, and after several days with no follow-up from Genie Air I called and Gene, the owner answer. He was very nice and seemingly professional on the phone. He was honest and apologetic stating that he had forgotten to call and promised to come out the following morning, Saturday. Even though by that time the temperature in the house was around 76 I trusted he would keep his word and remained patient. We began waiting for him in the house that by this point had no cool air circulating. He still had not come out by noon so I called him and apologized for being a bother and just wanted an update as we also had my small child at home as well and I knew I couldn't have her sleep in a house that in June was pushing up to the high 80s. Again he was very nice and said he had just gotten behind and would be out in an hour. Nothing. Finally that afternoon around 4:00 when our house by that time was up to about 88 degrees he came out and was immediately curt and told my husband that he was the expert here not him, when my husband, who simply asked him a question in an effort to understand why he was looking at the AC unit in the attic when he was told the first time he came out that it was the outside unit that needed to be worked on . It all went down hill from there. After a few minutes he said the unit was frozen and would return in about an hour with anti freeze. At this point I didn't trust he would be back when he said he would so I went to talk to him thinking that I would call the nice owner, Gene back. I was shocked to learn that this rude unprofessional man was Gene! When I asked him who his boss was he told me I would have to take the matter up with the rental property and seemed to treat us like we had no recourse. About 3 hours later he came back and I went outside to ask him how long it might be before the house started to cool down again. He put his hand in my face and told me to hold on and then shoved his cell phone in my face and told me he was recording me and to start talking. I was quite angry at the way he was treating me but went ahead and said everything into that phone about the way he forgot to come out, didn't come out when he said he would ect. and told him by all means share it with the property manager. The following Monday I called the rental property manager and told her what had happened. She apologized and told me they had, had other complaints about him that weekend as well. I also told her I believed althuogh he had a problem with people in general, that he especially had a problem with women which she indirectly validated. Later we learned that I was not the first woman he treated like this and that he has shoved cell phones in other people's faces too and told them he was recording them. I thought we were done with him but NO. the AC broke again and again he was sent out. This time my husband took off work to wait for him. The guy stores his stuff in San Marcos and forgot a part so had to drive all the way back to San Marcos. He didn't return for another 2 hours. My husband wasted the better part of a day waiting around. After he fixed it my husband wrote a letter to the property talked to the property manager las well and complained. About a month later the AC went out again and again Gene was called to come fix it. The property manager agreed with us that he was no longer going to be allowed to do work in our home. When we asked why he had been called then to come to our home the property manager said that was the first year they had signed a contract with him but that they would assign a different company to our home. They did and our AC was finally fixed. I know this was a long review and I am a very busy person who doesn't normally write reviews. As you can see by the date, this was last summer. But as summer approaches again it was on my mind. I am still angry at how he treated me and it is my opinion that he does have problems with women. I can also see why this man is self-employed. He may not have a boss to answer to and feels smug that his customers are helpless in the way of recourse but I don't believe so as long as people have a site to post reviews on. Believe me, Genie Air will make you wish you called someone else.
