Refused to honor warranty or provide warranty information to AHS. Absolutely ignored phone calls and emails. Repair only lasted a month from July. Now weeks without air due to total unresponsiveness.

The woman that answers the phone is EXTREMELY rude. I called when the service person didn't show up between 8-10AM and all she gave me was a bad attitude. Didn't apologize that he was likely going to be an hour late or anything. Said that "stuff comes up on different jobs" and that I should be more understanding. Typical in this industry to have horrible people skills and zero customer service. Also, you know they are cheap when the AHS home warranty company uses them first to diagnose issues when reported. They wouldn't use a reputable company that might charge a little more for dependability and a great user experience because they just want the cheapest deal. DO NOT USE this company.

Your dispatcher was friendly and informative. Your technicians, were professional and informative. They took care of my problem, took care of my home, and did an outstanding job! I will call on Element again!
Description of Work: I was referred to this company for my regular maintenance check and I am so happy I was. I was able to ask questions and given a breakdown of how my unit runs and what to look for with any mechanical issues. They tool their time, educated and seemed very happy to do so. I felt confident at the end of the visit that my home was in great hands!!!

Well, its been 1 month, And i get no call backs from cross country or element. Just horrible all around service. Ps, dont buy cross country insurance! Im having a hard time canceling the insurance. they are giving me the run around. enough to dry you nuts.
Description of Work: they provided service as a 3rd party for cross country home warranty. Well my central air had gone out. wasnt cooling. The technician, came in my house. cked my filter, (which i change out every 3 months). then he went outside, he was out there for 5 minutes, then came back in told us the compressor was out. He left and told me cross country would call us within 48 hours to see how they would handle it. Well it turns out nobody ever called me, i mean never. Then when i called in 3 days later, they told me they would not cover repairs due to not having unit maintained. My unit is clean. I tried calling element and the technician that was at my house, and never get a response. Its been 1 month and both element and cross country want nothing to do with the repair. horrible service!!

Response from Element Efficient Energy Concepts
Mr [Member Name Removed], I apologize for your negative experience. After our company serviced your home, our report was given to your warranty company within 24 hours. although our technician made repaired a few items, it unfortunately was still not working to full capacity. After submitting to Cross Country, they made the determination they would not cover the cost of the repairs. It is the responsibility of the warranty company to contact the Homeowners to discuss their reasons for making that decisions. I had even been in contact with your warranty company weeks after we serviced your home to send them pictures at their request. Again, Mr [Member Name Removed], I apologize that you felt you were not treated to the utmost priority as all customers should. We take pride in making sure all our customers are taken care of 100%. I hope you were able to resolve your concerns with your warranty company and if there is anything Element can do to make this situation a better experience for you, please let us know.

My home warranty expired on July 15th, I called AHS about a week before the warranty expired. This company came out and told me everything checked out, they couldn't do anything because the unit is cooling and the problem is not occurring once they were there. So on 21st August the unit finally stop cooling, obviously there were symptoms to the upcoming problems, but "they couldn't do anything because the unit was not broken and cooling". I had another company come out, not to mention on a Sunday, the capacitor was no good and the Freon was extremely low. I am not and electrician, but do know that capacitors have parameters they operate in, Element never bother to check the capacitor. The capacitor problem is a common one from what I heard from the technician and even people at work weeks ago. So how come they didn't check the parameters for the capacitor? Also, the Freon was super low!!! They said the Freon was normal. So from the day the were at my house to know the system lost more than half of its Freon capacity? One has to scratch their head and wonder if they are working for the customer or the warranty company. I'll leave it at that...
Description of Work: Provider came out as part of AHS warranty. The outside unit would turn on and off constantly. They came out and the problem was not happening, so the checked the Freon, inside temp and units. I later made a video of the problem and called them back to check the unit and got the same service.

Description of Work: Element was sent out through a home warranty company. They did take the $60 required by then warranty company for diagnosis but upon returning tried to charge us bogus fees for things they stated were required by law that were not. We told them that we would not pay for those services and found another contractor.

Great guys who aren't looking to "upsell" you.
Description of Work: Element came over for a second opinion. And they got it right! In the end they saved me a large amount of money. The guys were very professional and worked fast. They replaced a high voltage capacitor and a blown start kit. All this was missed by the first guy.

Description of Work: Element is an outstanding company! I used them last summer (2012) when my old A/C died. I ended up replacing it with a brand new one from them and it was promptly installed. The crew was very courteous and polite. The installation work was quickly completed and they cleaned up everything. The crew gave me a full explanation on the A/C, and answered all my questions. So of course, I utilized Element again for an annual A/C service/check-up this July. And again I was not disappointed. Element showed up on time and checked my A/Cs to make sure everything was running like it's supposed to do. As a female I appreciate their courtesy and politeness, as well as the fact they did not try to convince me of any additional "needed" services or "required" work. So I will definitely use Element again if any of my A/Cs need any work or maintenance done. Element is a company I highly recommend to all of my friends and family!

The cost of this service is the amount of my deductible with AHS warranty company. Countywide had been out to service my unit on a maintenance agreement and found that the starter capacitor was blown and the main capacitor was running very hot and was only functioning at partial capacity. They advised me that it needed to be replaced immediately and since I had AHS advised that I call them as soon as possible. He did advise me to request another provider if they referred me to A-US Air which they did. I requested service late in the afternoon. The dispatcher from Element called me first thing the following morning to set up service for that afternoon. She called again to check with me prior to the technician Jesse's arrival to advise me that he was approximately 30 minutes out. Jesse arrived and was very professional. I advised him that Countywide had been out the prior day, and relayed what they had told me. Jesse told me that he would have to measure the output of the capacitor, and went to work. The blown starter kit was clear as day. He replaced both and finished up the job in a matter of 10 to 15 minutes.
Description of Work: Replaced starter kit. Replaced capacitor.

I thought Elements was a reputable company and was impressed with the first representative they sent to research the problem. The two techs they sent to do the job were not at all impressive, but I had already agreed to the work and felt I should stand by my word. A very expensive mistake on my part. Though I am almost 75 years old, I am a full-time Realtor and also work part-time in our property management division. Had Elements done the work satisfactorily, I would have obtained their services for some of the A/C repairs that are often needed in our many property management homes. I not only will never use them for our property management division OR my personal needs, but I have related my experience with Elements and shown the pictures to others in my industry. It would have been so simple for them to stand behind their company's work and integrity and, at the very least, try to resolve this problem. Such a total disappointment which goes way beyond the $495 I paid them.
Description of Work: My Home Warranty provider sent Elements to my home in response to a call from me that my overflow valve to my A/C was leaking into my garage, where the unit is installed. Elements determined that my unit, inside and out, were very dirty and cleaning them would solve my problem. My Home Warranty considered this a maintenance problem and did not cover it. The charge to clean them was $495.00. They supposedly did the work and I paid them with a check. That evening, when returning from my business office, I again saw water on my garage floor. I inspected the unit in the garage and discovered that black tape had been placed over the overflow valve. Obviously, this didn't contain the overflow! I called Elements around 5:30 p m and received no answer. I then checked outside and saw the outside release pipe for normal water flow from the A/C was clogged. I spent about a half hour getting it unclogged and watched a gallon or more water being released through this pipe. Problem solved... I thought! June 16th, my A/C again wasn't functioning properly and my Home Warranty provider sent another A/C company to investigate the problem. I went with the service tech to the outside unit when he opened it to search for the problem. There were cobwebs in the electrical part of the unit and MANY old leaves still in the bottom of the unit. The tech was taking pictures (common procedure for his company, before and after servicing or repair) so I took pictures of the mess, also. When the tech examined the inside part of the unit, it, too, was still dirty. I had him clean both parts of the A/C at a cost of $105.00. After cleaning, he found some other problems and I had their company do the repairs. The A/C has functioned perfectly since!!! On July 1st, I wrote a letter to Elements and included the pictures I had taken. I requested them, as a show of their company's integrity, to return the $495 I had paid them for work that was not done. To this day I have received no response from Elements.

Thhis was the second company that I was referred to from American Home Shield. The first company couldn't even get to me today, which was a little bit difficult since it is over 100 degrees and my air conditioner wasn't working whatsoever. After calling AHS back and asking for a company who could come today, I was referred to Element. Their scheduler was very professional and even checked with me once to see if it was okay if they were running a bit late. However, in the end, they weren't late, and the two gentlemen who showed up were very friendly and professional. My repair was completed in less than 30 minutes, and my air is working again.

AS STATED ABOVE I would not recommend this company because they do as little work as possible and still get paid by the Home Warranty Company.
Description of Work: The Home Warranty company assigned this company to fix my A/C. Blaze and another tech came and 'looked' at the outdoor and indoor units and initially stated that the problem was the dryer duct installed too close to the outdoor unit. They didn't do much but turn the unit on and off and look through the filter on the inside hallway under the indoor unit. They also offered to replace filters. I then asked if they had TAKEN OFF the front panel to see the circuit board inside. Suprisingly, they admitted that this wasn't done and they would then do this. They found a BURNED CIRCUIT BOARD and told us to keep the A/C off until the circuit board was replaced because it was a FIRE HAZARD. We most likely would have been home when a HOUSE FIRE started because I am a stay-at-home mom with 3 kids and we are home all day. Also, they had to order the part so we had to wait 2 days with no A/C. After the board was installed, Blaze did mention that it was "weird" that the circuit breaker didn't shut down the system to prevent a POTENTIAL FIRE but did NOT address this problem before leaving. The system turned on and off and slightly cooled for 2 days before failing to cool again. Now we have no A/C AGAIN. Unfortunately, I am stuck with this company because of the home warranty. The price I paid was for the home warranty service fee. 7/31/12 The Home Warranty covered the return of this unscrupulous company. The owner, Jesse, came and personally looked at the unit. He stated that there was a filter which was left in the outside unit when it was last serviced which caused the unit not to work. It would be a major repair or replacement. He called my Home Insurance company and reported the claim that there was a filter left in the unit which did not belong. My warranty was voided for coverage of my A/C unit. In my opinion this company does the least work possible and charges the insurance company for it and if there is a repair that needs done they word a claim so they don’t have to do it so the warranty is voided for the home owner. 8/2/12 I called another company and the owner came who is certified by the Department of Texas Licensing and Regulation, not working under someone else's license as all of the techs in this company do, and he stated that the parts this company claimed did not belong do in fact belong and the accurate diagnosis was actually a leak in the coils which the insurance company should cover and his quote for repair is $1000.

Description of Work: Element A/C was sent out by American Home Shield to see about an A/C unit that we had leaking in our attic and dripping down into our gameroom. Jesse came out and discovered that AHS had improperly installed the coils and drip pan on our upstairs (3 ton) unit in 2010. Blaze at Element called the problem in to AHS and they denied the claim saying that they had worked on the downstairs unit (4 ton) and would not help us. The downstairs unit that AHS says they worked on has the original 1998 coils that were installed when we built the house in 1998. So the only unit with 2010 coils was the upstairs unit that was leaking. We decided that we had to have the unit fixed and told Element to go ahead and fix the unit and that we would hash it out with AHS later. The 2 technicians came out on Friday and installed the new coils and drip pan. My husband called and spoke to Blaze and said “how much do we owe you?”. Blaze said “nothing.” I will get my money from AHS. So we weren’t charged anything. Unfortunately during the night the A/C started leaking again and my husband called Jesse on Saturday morning and said we still have a problem. We were headed to the lake and Jesse said he would stop by our house while we gone. We gave him our garage code and he stopped by and discovered that the drain lines had not been blown out completely. He fixed the problem on a Saturday and charged us nothing. I would recommend Element to anyone that has an A/C unit problem. They were honest and dependable. Definitely willing to go the extra mile for their customers.

This is the third Co. that home protection service sent out after two other companies failed to diagnose the problem and/or just were not qualified. First Co. replaced a capacitor, left and said AC was fine, without waiting to see if it was cooling.. It still froze up and second co. performed an inspection and said it was fine. Still froze up and that is when the coil had to be replaced by ElementAC
