Description of Work: I had a combination of medal fencing, wood fencing and stone work done. Wood fencing was fine. Contractor tried to switch the fencing I contracted from to a cheaper product, fence posts were put at the wrong intervals, workers were clearly not skilled at metal fencing, stone had to be redone 3 times, never on time. Extremely unprofessional. Biggest headache I have ever encounter with a contractor. Work was $15,000.

Description of Work: This provider was scheduled for two dates - both I took off work - and did not show. I had to contact him when he did not show. I attempted to re-contact a week or so ago when I have time off work to schedule, left a voicemail stating my concerns, and an appointment and services were not scheduled. I have voicemail that is convenient to leave messages, email via Angie's List, etc., and was not contacted. I am very disappointed and will be requesting my funds returned.

Description of Work: I purchased the $99 deal. I needed additional work done so that added the $100. I had only contracted for a certain amount of replacement pickets but the owner replaced about 10 more at no extra charge. I have a dog that loves to chew the fence. He also serviced my gate latches and reset one of the gate posts in concrete that had come loose. I felt that the owner went above and beyond and would definitely use them in the future.

Description of Work: Great once we could get them here but was a no show the first appointment, late the second attempt at an appt. - thought the appt. for the work to be done but person came for an estimate, third appt. the person came 2 1/2 hrs. late but did go above and beyond what the certificate called for....seems like a very nice, polite, religious man who needs to adhere better to his appt. obligations/promises.

Description of Work: I made many calls and got nothing but saying that they would come out. Many emails were sent with request to call and nothing happened. I eventually got two calls. One to say he was having Staff problems and the other that he himself would come out but never did. I told him I just wanted my money back and forget about. Have not received money to date.

Description of Work: I purchased the Angie's List Big Deal for $99 and provided three potential dates. The vendor then accepted one of the dates via Angie's List (eMail communication). On the day the service was to be performed, no one had arrived by 4pm (no specific time had been set). When I called to inquire I was informed that all of the vendors computers were down/not-working and so they were having a very difficult time contacting customers (they could not access Angie's List). While disappointed, we rescheduled for two weeks later. Two weeks later, no one ever showed up / came by. On that occasion I emailed via Angie's List and got no response. One business day later (a Monday) I called and spoke to a representative of Dominion and rescheduled for Noon-to-1pm the coming Friday. When that Friday arrived, at approx 1:15 I called Dominion (b/c no one had arrived). They informed me they could be at my home by 2pm or 2:30pm. I politely declined given it felt, by the conversation, that if I hadn't have called, no one would have been showing up. Frustrated I agreed to push it back a week. This past Friday (6/20), once again, no one showed, called, anything. I cannot recommend a vendor that misses an appointment four times. In fact, I am curious as to how to get my money back, given I purchased through Angie's List and not from the vendor.

Description of Work: Stained fence rolled deck and railings. OK job, but not worth the price. Total opposite if stonework done at home. Not punctual and lacked proper surface prep and materials. Recommend for landscaping work but not staining/painting. Workers and owner are very polite and nice, just quality of this job was not up to par.

+ -1 moreAt first the contractor called often, after I chose him for the work I had to call him the weekend before I had scheduled the work to verify they were still coming. The crew showed up on the day that was agreed upon after 10 am. There was an issue with rain but the whole fence was done in five days. The fence is stable and looks good but the boards seem to be higher than the ground is in several spots so I will need to find something to fill the gap so the dog doesn't get out. It took over five more days for them to come and removed the old fence and stain materials from the yard. The company was informed by one of the neighbors that there was a problem with the fence but they never notified me of this issue. The neighbor did tell me about the issue so I called the owner and asked them to start putting the boards up on that side first. The owner assured me that they would do that side first. Upon returning home I saw they had started on the other side and didn't finish the side I had asked them to finish first until the next day. Before work started I had been given a cost estimate which included a cost for material and labor for the staining of the fence ($440). After the staining of the fence had been accomplished I received a call from the owner telling me he needed the cost for the work and he quoted me the same amount ($440). After paying for all the work and them removing the old fence and stain material the owner called to tell me that the cost was approximately three times ($1,140) the original amount quoted for the staining of the fence.
Description of Work: The company removed the existing 6 ft wooden fence around the back part of my property and installed a new 6 ft wooden fence in its place. The company removed a 12 ft gate and replaced with a 4 ft gate. The company used three rails for the fence and a stronger gate support system. The company stained the entire fence. The company removed the old fence and the wood stain materials.

+ -1 moreI got two estimates from companies I found on Angie's List. Dennis came out the day after I called him and spent about 30 minutes looking at the situation and discussing our needs. The other company asked questions over the phone, promised a quote within two days and sent it about 10 days later. Dennis' bid was significantly lower than his competitor's. Once the work started, it was completed in a timely and professional manner. In fact, I had to get approval from the homeowners' association for the stain color and Dennis was very accomodating and willing to wait for the approval. The job was finished yesterday and the fence looks fantastic. I would highly recommend Dominion to anybody who has fencing needs.
Description of Work: Our privacy fence needed repair and at the same time we decided to also have it stained. We needed about 60 pickets, a broken gate and one post replaced. We also needed to repair the cap on the fence over two of the panels.

+ -1 moreI found Dennis Rampersaud and his Dominion Fences & Decks through Angie's List and gave him a ring for an estimate. After we met, I researched him and his company rather extensively, were impressed with his website and hired Dennis for the job (out of 3 bids total). Dennis gave us competitive price, listened to what we needed and completed what he started in the time frame: built 6-foot fence with 3-hinged gate in the back, two more gates on both sides of the house; additionally I asked him to build a fence between our neighbors' and our back yard because I liked it so much; replaced some damaged and rotten boards on our tool shed and installed a new steel door. Needless to say, I am very picky: on several occasions I requested some of the pickets from the fence to come out and replaced with better ones; Dennis personally removed one of the hinges and put it back on because I did not like how the bolts were placed. There was some delay on two occasions; first time, when I requested additional work and Dennis had to go back for more material; and second time, toward the end of the job, when he had issues with his vehicle. No big deal :) Dennis was very patient and tolerant to my suggestions and critics; never said 'no' except when I asked if he wanted any down payment. He purchased all the materials including the steel door, brought it to my house, installed; hauled away the rubbish, and got paid at the end. We worked everything out, from start to finish, with mutual trust and I can honestly say that I gained a friend.
Description of Work: To replace an old chain link fence in the back with cedar privacy fence. To repair the tool shed and replace the door.

+ -1 moreOriginally we intended to stain the fence as a DIY project, but never finished. We called Dennis several months after he finished the installation and he promptly sent someone to finish the job for us at a very reasonable rate. Workers did not always arrive at the time they were scheduled, but the end result was worth the extra wait. Several neighbors have also used Dominion to replace their fences. Other neighbors have complimented our fence and asked us for contact information for the contractor, which we're happy to give them. Dominion may be a bit more expensive than some other contractors, but from what I've seen they use better materials which more than justifies the price difference.
Description of Work: PLEASE NOTE: I believe I submitted a report on our experience with Dominion Fences and Decks about a year ago. I understand you do not want duplicate reports and am only submitting the grades above and commentary below because I was contacted via e-mail and asked to do a report. Dennis Rampersaud, Dominion Fences and Decks, replaced a six-foot wooden privacy fence on three sides of back yard. The fence has been in place approximately one year and we are still as happy with the materials and workmanship as we were initially.

Dennis came out and gave me suggestions and an estimate on the spot. I contacted a couple references and received rave reviews from his previous clients. We started the project and start to finish he was there to answer all my questions and very easy to work with. We are very happy with everything they did. My wife and I now love our backyard and enjoy sitting under the Pergola. It is not very often you get exactly what you ask for and the quality you expect.
Description of Work: Dennis with Dominion Fences & Decks did an amazing job! We had 2 Pergolas built, 1 small and 1 large and about a flagstone patio built with a rock flower box.

However, fence building is hard work and this job was done during a the beginning of a heatwave, so I feel the overall time was quite reasonable. The materials and workmanship are a huge improvement over the old fence. We are very satisfied and recommend Dominion Fences & Decks to anyone building a fence.
