From start to finish we were extremely satisfied with the people, the product and the installation by Diamond Decks. Our new outdoor kitchen, decks and wrought iron front door are real showcases and we have received many compliments from our neighbors and guests. One thing we learned is that with any outdoor construction project there will be inevitable weather delays and temporary holdups on materials and labor. We were kept informed throughout the process as these occurred and made the required adjustments with little difficulty. We highly recommend Diamond Decks to anyone considering enhancing the functionality and value of their home.

Signed contract with Diamond Decks for a 1,000 sq.ft. floating deck and railing atop a 3-car garage, new Hardie board siding on one end of a 2-story house facing the deck, a porch with metal roof, storm door, and associated painting/caulking. 23&25Aug17, subcontractor did a poor job installing the Hardie board. 12,13&15Sep, First paint crew did a very poor caulk job and paint on Hardie boards. Could see work wasn't being done in the professional manner we had expected and e-mailed owner saying we would pay for what was done and wanted to void our contract. He threatened to have his attorney contact us. We then set up a face-to-face meeting on 19 Sep with the owner to discuss the project to date and what would be done in the future. (A waste of an hour+ as all we heard was how passionate he was building decks for 20 years and what a great job his crew does--NOT.) 5Oct17, Second paint crew repainted the wall and attempted to do a better caulk job. Still terrible job, but I said we'd accept the work and to press on with the deck. 10Oct, Trex and pressure treated wolmanized wood subframe materials were delivered as well as the cedar materials for the porch. 11-23Oct, crew installed the subframe, Trex decking, steps and constructed a porch. Another subcontractor arrived and installed the porch metal roof. A very nice, professional job overall. 19Oct, owner revisited our job site and asked for "$25K or $30K" as he was "$1.2M in debt materials and needed a payment." NOTE: Contract and advertisements state no money till job is completed. I acquiesced and gave him $20K. 24&25Oct, Crew did a beautiful job installing the 42" metal railing around the deck 30-31Oct, The second paint crew primed and painted the porch. Again, poor quality workmanship. 1Nov, Went out on new deck and found storm door installation to be poor and not up to standard. 6Nov, Previously installed Hardie board storm door frame removed and a new cedar (wooden) frame constructed. 7Nov, A third, yes 3rd, paint crew showed up to do necessary painting on new frame and finish poor paint job from paint crew #2. 8Nov, With my assistance a Diamond Deck individual reinstalled the storm door. Gave employee the remainder owed per contract, $26K. 8Nov, On this same day I contracted Trex, Inc., company with a question and when doing so found that when constructing a floating deck the treated lumber should have Trex Protect Joist and Beam Tape installed on top of the lumber (which can double the life from 10 to 20 years of the subframe.) I e-mailed the owner asking why we didn't have the tape installed and for the first time have never received a response--of course, he now has his money. Not quibbling over the $46K quote for the aforementioned contracted work, would have gladly paid another $500 or so to make the job last longer. This job certainly shouldn't have taken 10 weeks--albeit we did have perhaps 2 weeks of poor weather or shipping delays. Nor should it have necessitated NUMEROUS e-mails, texts, and phone calls. This company has a serious communication issue, project managers who don't oversee a job nor communicate between homeowner and workers, and obviously takes on too many jobs sacrificing quality and leaving the homeowner feeling like this is a side-line project and "we'll get to you when we can attitude." Also, we are still attempting to clean all the oil and fluid stains all over our driveway from worker's vehicles, picking up unused screws, cigarette butts, etc. NOTE: Diamond Decks LLC should stick to deck building and leave other projects to professionals as the aforementioned poor quality work caused the poor over-all rating.
Description of Work: Install some Hardie board siding on one end of 2-story house facing deck, construct a sub-frame for a floating deck atop a 1K sq ft garage and install a Trex decking material, construct a set of steps, porch cover, railings, and new storm door. Associated caulk and paint work.

They did not do any work for us, other than the hour and a half meeting to get the quote.
Description of Work: I contacted them for a quote for some deck replacement. I got a call right back and a confirmed appointment set up right away. For that I give them great remarks. The rep showed up when expected and sat down with us to go over the quote. Of course he did try to sell us much more than what we initially wanted, but then he finally gave us a quote for what we were asking for. He said he would have to take the proposal back to the office for someone to make sure it was doable and then he would schedule us. We signed the agreement. 3 days later I got a call that someone at the office said that proposal wouldn't work and to do the work would now cost close to $4k more than what was proposed. When I questioned the huge increase I was told "I told you that it might not work!" That is not really what he said, but either way, we opted to cancel the agreement. I'm sure they are very good at what they do, based on their reviews. However he told us repeatedly in our meeting that they were very, very busy and built lots of decks and it would be several weeks before they could get to us. If you have a large budget, I think you will be very happy with them. They just didn't work for us.

Response from Diamond Decks
Thank you for your feedback, the representative that went to your home was uncertain if Diamond Decks could build the project the way you requested and be able to warranty the project with structural integrity. Once he reviewed the design with Diamond Decks management, they determined that in order to put our name on it and build it correctly, it would require considerably more money than what you had initially budgeted for the project. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion but we strive to make sure our construction projects are built within the IRC codes as well as aesthetically pleasing. Thank you for the opportunity.

Kyle came out and designed us an outdoor kitchen and cover for our existing deck. He was professional, thorough, and extremely knowledgable. He answered any questions we had (and we had a lot). The end result was above and beyond our expectations. We have recommended Diamond Decks to many of our friends. A+ service all the way around.

Very slow. No one would do the finish work (Doing it myself). Had to beg for someone to take away the demo trash. We went days or a week before someone would show up. Too many bosses...I had to deal with several different people rather than one point of contact. A lot of waiting, many promises with no response. Took 2 full months.

Not as well as I was thought it would go. The first designer was a little pushy and it seems his opinions were more important than mine. Had another designer from the company come out and he was very different than the first. We spoke about the project and we decided to go with them Diamond Decks. The bid was around 22,000 dollars. The next morning I called the designer and told him that we needed to visit the location of the 2 8X8" beam placements needed to support the patio cover because the location would interfere with the 4X4's supporting the existing deck. We talked on the phone but no one came to see the location placement of the 8X8" beams. I was reassured it would be handled. Patio Cover Three weeks later the person that was actually going to build the structure came out to start construction but we needed to call the designer because he had no information about the deck supports interfering with the new beams. The designer came out and said since I wanted a building permit the holes for the new beams would be twice as large and would have to be inspected. He may not have been aware of this because he did not have an engineered drawing but was told over the phone the dimensions needed to be 2'x2'x3'. His design called for 1'x1'x2' holes. Moving beams off deck, bigger holes and materials to extend cover 2' $1600.00. The Pergola The pergola was to be free standing with 2 8X8"X10' beams towards the back of the house under the facia board and this would allow room for a gutter and 2 8X8"X10' beams at the end of the deck to support the pergola. Once again the issue with the engineered holes necessitated to redesign the pergola drawing. Because the new engineered holes would cut so much out of the existing deck the beams were eliminated and now the pergola would have to be attached to the facia board and no gutter. New design another $1600.00. My wife and I talked about the location of the 2 8X8" at the end of the deck and the designer said it's OK. When the pergola was finally finished it looked good but was 6" to far to the right. Staining Cover and pergola. Painter did a good job of covering up for over spray and drips. He sprayed about 30 square feet and said it was too windy to continue spraying. He stopped and about ten minutes later my wife arrived from running errands and came to look at the work. Right away she noticed it was the wrong color of stain. It took him about 3 day days to remove as much of the wrong stain as possible. When finished the job did look alright. Really needed 2 coats of stain only got 1. The reason the original estimate had to be revised I was told was because they said I changed my mind from the original design. The design had to be changed because their design did not take into account the engineered holes for the large beams which would have resulted in a lot of work on my existing deck. The new design was not my arbitrary change. Why have I waited almost a year to write this review? I finally got over the issues with the cover and pergola design and decided just to enjoy the finished pergola and cover. My wife and I were sitting under the cover and we heard scratching at the junction where the cover was attached to the house. It seems they left holes opened and squirrels found their way in and decided to take up residence. One of the selling points was what their advertisements said, they pay "attention to detail". When the 8"X8"X12' beams were delivered the original design called for 6 beams. Some "attention to detail" was lacking because 16 beams were delivered. Apparently there was not a lot of "attention to detail" on my project.

My wife and I recently moved into a new home and wanted a deck built onto our back porch. Luckily, we called Diamond Decks for an estimate. Donnie Ferguson came to our home surveyed our situation and offer us a scale model drawing of the size and deck type we described to him. We were pleased with his suggestions, his professionalism and his price. Within days of signing a contract Gary Short appeared with supplies ready to begin work. I cannot tell you how pleased we were with the work of Gary. His insight, skill and experience in building decks became extremely obvious from the start of the project. During the project, we changed our mind several times, adding on features and deleting others. This presented no problems for Gary or Diamond Decks and did not result in any delay in the building of our deck project. Gary helped us make some important choices along the way and also provided for us some unusual custom carpentry work not found available with most deck builders, such as drilling out and routing the railings and banister posts of the deck so as to totally hide the electrical wiring. Once the deck was completed to our satisfaction Diamond Decks quickly sent out a paint/stain team who rapidly stained in a two-tone color what is now the focal point for our home entertainment and outdoor living. In addition, at our request, the paint team also stained for us our yard fence, which had previously not been stained, and our porch ceilings to match our project. Our Deck is a beautiful two tone, three level Trex Deck with a Cedar Pergola, Cedar skirting, two attractive cedar louver-ventilated Privacy Screens, and it contains built-in lighting. It was an exceptional job, very professionally done, and it required no down payment. The payment was expected only when the job was finished to our satisfaction. Without reservations, we highly recommend Diamond Decks.

“Diamond Decks” is a very impressive company, both in attention to detail and customer service. I learned they are not only a deck company, but offer Remodeling services as well. My 620 foot, 12 year old deck needed the top replaced. I went through Angie’s List, and picked out (3) A++ rated companies to get estimates. Owner Kyle Brooks came out, took measurements, drew out a schematic of the deck and the work we wanted done. He didn’t attempt to oversell us, and spent most of the time listening to what my wife and I wanted accomplished. The estimate was very fair, and beat the other offers. There was no charge for the estimate. The team doing the work were excellent and efficient. Work too app 5 days, intermixed with rain. They showed up on time, and worked steadily each day for the duration of the project and were quiet/courteous to our neighbors. My wife and I were impressed with their honesty and professionalism. On project completion, owner Donnie Ferguson came out and reviewed all work done. I would also mention that I was also in a bind getting the fascia replaced on 2 gables in front of my house, 20+ feet in up. I was having my roof replaced, and the person the roofers were depending on to replace the fascia (before they could could start the roof teardown) had a personal issue come up and couldn’t do it. I mentioned this to Donnie on the day of the walk though. He gave me a fair estimate on the spot and worked me in to their busy schedule so the roofer wouldn’t be delayed. This really impressed me. In summation. A great team, with integrity, a solid work ethic and a focus on what the customer wants. I would recommend them to anyone seeking to have not only deck work done, but any remodeling project they may wish to pursue. - jesse h. goode jr.

Building the deck went very well. We had a little rain during the time, but the crew got everything back on schedule. The deck is curved and shaped like a kidney. In one particular spot, the curve was too round to bend the wood to fit and stay in place. Kyle and his contractor came up with a great solution at no extra charge. I would definitely recommend and have referred friends and neighbors to him.
Description of Work: We had Diamond Decks design and build a deck for our property. Kyle Brooks, one of the owners did the design at our kitchen table and when I changed it pretty significantly a few weeks later was very patient and re-did it on the fly. He is great. The space is quite large, almost 800 sq. ft. with a pergola open cover.

Donnie took care of submitting all the paperwork to our HOA, which we appreciated. A couple of weeks later, a crew chief reached out to let us know they'd be starting work on the deck the Monday before Thanksgiving. A team of 2 individuals, led by Brandon, arrived promptly and removed the builder-installed stairs and railings, but the lumber wasn't delivered until later the next day. Unfortunately the lumber delivery team marked up our white concrete driveway, but Donnie contacted them to come power wash it to remove all the black marks, so we appreciated that. The build ended up taking far longer than anticipated for a variety of reasons: holidays, sickness, weather, availability of the lattice, etc. But once the lattice was in stock again, Donnie's crew was excellent about getting it done. Brandon did a great job and we were very pleased with the finished product. Donnie contracted out to Dexperts to stain our deck and the concrete patio, and they did a terrific job. I have to say that the Dexperts team was excellent about communicating what was going on with our job, but at times we were frustrated when the deck crew didn't show up for one reason or another. A simple text or call to keep us posted would have been greatly appreciated. I definitely have to give a positive shout out to Brandon who noticed a gas smell in our side yard. A quick call to CPS got someone out pronto to check it out, and they did find a small leak which they promptly repaired. If not for Brandon, who knows if or when we would have noticed it!! All in all we're happy to have worked with Diamond Decks. We've gotten lots of compliments on our deck, and we really do love it.
Description of Work: In response to our request for a quote, Donnie from Diamond Decks came by to speak with us about what we wanted in a deck. We gave him a general idea of what we were looking for (and what we didn't want), and he drew up a nice design for a 2-tiered deck with a pergola over the upper half and a privacy screen on the lower deck. There are also stairs leading to the yard, and Donnie incorporated an under-deck storage area by installing lattice and a door under the higher part of the deck.

Overall we were very satisfied with the entire process. We had a cedar deck placed over our existing cement patio and extended out about 12 feet. They also were able to relocate the stairs and give us a larger bar top area with the wood that was saved from the stair relocation. Build took only 5 days, sanding and staining took 2. Highly recommend this company.

Out with the old in with the new! Three years ago it became a must that we find a company to replace our deck. In 2007 we had a deck built by Quality Custom Decks through our custom home builder, Don Craighead Homes. The company he used was Quality Custom Decks, and this deck did not even last 9 years and actually looked as though it was 20 years old not to mention it had become dangerous. The Quality Custom Decks workmanship was horrible and the composite was installed improperly per the Representative from Evergrain Composite Decking after the representative made an inspection of our deck. Over the last three years we had received many estimates for rebuilding our deck however none could meet our main objectives which were to have a crew that was not hired off a street corner but worked for the company and to have that same crew from start to finish. Finally in May of 2016, I came across Diamond Decks and set up an appointment for a estimate using Trex. Donnie Ferguson came out explained his process gave us an estimate and offered a great warranty through his company on top of the Trex 25 year warranty. Diamond Deck using their own crew and was the main reason we decided to sign on the spot and the quote was good. Donnie’s crew was dependable, polite and did a fantastic job. The finished deck is wonderful and we could not be happier. We highly recommend Diamond Decks for a superb deck and wonderful workmanship. They are a company who stands by their word and delivers what they promise, on time and with no surprises.

Kyle came out to give me an estimate. I showed him some pictures of what I envisioned the porch to look like. He worked up the estimate from there asking questions and making suggestions to help me stay within my budget. There were crews for construction and subcontractors used for the painting/stain and electrical work. The construction crew showed up a week later and bulit the screen porch. They kept the site clean, no music blaring during work, and cleaned the site very well when they finished. Overall they did a very good job. They worked the entire time they were on the site except for their lunch break. They were polite, knowledgeable, very skilled, respectful, friendly, and helpful. They did not hestitate to consult with me in the event there was a decision to be made or a question raised during construction. A subtractor company, Dexpert, did the painting/staining. They did an "ok" job. My crew was messy and rushed through the job. They got paint and stain on solar shades I had just hung. They told me they didn't need to take down the shades because they paint around them all of the time. There were some minor issues, but the owners of Dexpert and Diamond Decks did not hestitate to personally get involved and to get the issues resolved. Anytime you have several subcontractors working on a job there are bound to be a few issues. What I REALLY appreciate about Kyle Brooks and Diamond Decks is his willingness to be the front contact for his company all of the time and especially when issues do arise. In fact, all of the owners and managers of the crews give their business card out right up front for contacts to be made directly to them. Usuaully, the customer has to go through a foreman or CSR, or secretary and the problems are difficult to get resolved. The manager of construction, "Mack," came out personally to fine tune a glitch and left if it very professionally completed. Chad, the owner of Dexpert, sent me check for the solar shade damage to replace them. Craig, the manager of Dexpert is coming out next week to do some staining on the newly added frame pieces. I mentioned them because they were a part of my package estimate from Diamond Decks. Diamond Decks.........Customer service is excellent. Communication A+. Skilled and professional workers. Resolution professionlly done. Thank you, Diamond Decks for another job well done!
Description of Work: I had Diamond Decks build my deck last summer and because they did such a good job I called them to come back and add a roof and screened in porch to the existing deck.
