+ -1 moreThere were several challenges along the way. Some of the workers were asked to work on Saturday or Sunday and they felt they were entitled to some "adult" beverages and as a result some of the work was less than stellar. There was a sub for the garage door that left some wires exposed and he was very rude when Don made him come back and make it right. The electrician that was doing some of the extra work was also inclined to drink-and-run but Don had him come back as many times as necessary until we were satisfied. Even after the final walk through a cabinet that was installed came crashing down after I put some items in it and Don came back the next day and installed the new cabinets which he paid for. Even though things don't always go well on a project the most important part is that you have good contractor. Don ALWAYS returned our calls promptly and he took care of any outstanding issues in a timely manner. I would recommend him to all of my family and friends.
Description of Work: Don added a garage to our existing garage. The critical part was getting everything to match. The roof line had to be changed. The brick had to match as well as windows etc. Don was one of the very few contractors that actually showed up and presented an estimate. Our first meeting was several months before we actually broke ground. As most builders say "yea we can do that" I was skeptical. His contract was clear and fairly priced. When the construction actually started we had several "other" ideas and some electrical and roof work that we wanted done by the workers on site. Don put them to work on other smaller projects and gave me estimates along the way for the additional work. The project started in late November and was completed by early February. The final result is "fantastic". His workers were able to remove our old brick from an existing wall that was being removed and used that for the front and he found the exact brick locally to match the rest of the house. Excellent.

+ 3 moreDon came to the house, gave me suggestions on how best to solve my problems. He gave me bids on the separate portions of the work. He supervised the job, had the sub-contractors rework areas not properly done the first time. He insured the mess was cleaned each evening. His job was completed in the time frame he told me. I always felt that he was interested in seeing that the job was done properly and at a fair price. I was very pleased with this contractor. I can not recommend him highly enough. He saved me a lot of money. The other bidder was more than twice as expensive.
Description of Work: Replaced facia, sub-facia, gutters, crown moulding around perimeter of roof. Painted trim. Replaced 3 windows.

+ 3 moreWe got off to a rough start when his workers did not clean up after wall preparation, but that was resolved and from then on things went well. As long as Don supervises his workers, they do excellent work. Don called and kept me abreast of progress. His workers showed up early every morning. They cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. Don promptly addressed any concerns, requests, and questions. When unforeseen events arose, inability to install one of the ceiling fans, Don explained the situation. Don does what he says he will and then some. I am using him for additional work.
Description of Work: Installed quarter-round in five rooms, repaired a window frame, prepared walls and ceiling for painting, painted interior nine colors including designer colors, installed two ceiling fans and painted three exterior doors.

+ 3 moreThey do a very good job with every type of work they do. It took a couple of weeks to complete the work and we are very satisfied with the results. They were great at cleaning up all of the mess when finished.
Description of Work: They tiled our bathroom, installed new windows and done some exterior painting and interior painting for us.

+ 0 moreThe work that Dons Home Improvement did on this house was fabulous; we were very pleased with the professional job. It took two weeks to paint the complete interior of this house and we used many bright colors. The painters took care not to make a mess and anything that did drip they were quick to clean it up. When the work was finished the house looked great and there was no mess anywhere.
Description of Work: We hired Dons Home Improvement in the spring to paint every room in this house. They painted the ceilings, the walls, the trim in all eight rooms and it took about two weeks to complete. We also had a small patch on the roof that was fixed by them as well.
