Job took one week from tear down to completion. Charles and his crew cleaned up each night and removed all trash. He was happy to answer any questions and explain any recommendations fully. I encourage anyone to get a estimate and use him for any decking needs. He also includes a 5 year guarantee with his work.

Charles was extremely knowledgable and professional. On the first meeting to get an estimate, he was punctual and gave me several options with "ball park" figures. He also gave his recommendations. This gave me all of the information I needed to make a decision. I received a written estimate the next day and I scheduled the job. A few days later I wanted to add more to the scope of work. Again his expertise helped me make good decisions. Charles had the supplies dropped on the first day. He started promptly the next day and completed the work that day. Charles did all of the work himself and the final result looked beautiful. Charles hauled all of the old materials away and left the work area super clean. I certainly will hire him again when we are ready to expand the project. There were no hassles and no surprises. Just what a none-handy many wants when they hire a company for job.

Charles Wells was great from start to finish. He came out and gave me a bid within a couple of days of my first phone call and started and completed the project the following week. During his first visit he explained the process in detail, telling me exactly what to expect and exactly how long it would take. He arrived early every day and worked diligently and proficiently to completion. I was very pleased with the entire process and love the final product!

Look no further...Charlie is the man. After interviewing a dozen deck companies over a three-month period, I felt uneasy about cost/value/expectations of all the others. Our patience paid off...thank God I found Deck the House. Charlie shoots straight and gives professional/logical/cost-effective advice about your outdoor living space. His price quotes are simple and all-inclusive. His carpentry skills are phenomenal and expeditious. The deck materials arrived Tuesday afternoon; he and his partner arrived before 7:00 am on Wed; the project was complete and all scraps/extra materials were removed on Saturday. He doesn't even stop to take a break for lunch unless you make him! Our friends and family have nothing but amazing things to say about how Charlie has changed our backyard into an "oasis." I contacted Mr. Wells on July 2nd and made an appointment with him to come and look at my fence and deck and give me and estimate. The appointment was for July 7th at 2:30 pm but he arrived at 2:15 so I was already impressed as I had contacted other contractors who never showed up. Mr. Wells and I discussed what needed to be done and he made a few suggestions and said that he would work up a proposal and email it to me. I received the proposal that evening and accepted it. He then called me after receiving my email and said that he would like to start on Wednesday, July 9th, as he had other work scheduled for the next week. He arrived at 6:45 am on the 9th and proceeded to take apart the old deck and tore down the fence. He was always on time and worked through the weekend to get finished. He carried out all trash from the job and cleaned up the yard. He even washed off the concrete around my pool. The deck and fence are amazing. I bought this house 7 years ago and am slowly repairing and replacing old things. The deck and fence were approximately 30 years old.

Charles was very prompt in responding to our phone inquires and arrived promptly to begin the job. He was easy to talk to and had ideas to make the deck more visually pleasing. His ideas improved our sight lines when sitting on the deck. He finished the complete job in one day, and the area is beautiful again! It was a very messy job with much sawdust, nails and boards. At the conclusion of the project, he and his helper did a great job of cleaning up. We recommend his company highly!

Really exceptional contractor and deck builder. Charles added an elevated deck to the back of our existing concreted patio. He was extremely professional during all contacts in person and on the phone. The deck we wanted was a fairly small project, but he treated it as if it was as important to him as it was to us. I provided the basic design and Charles suggested some changes that made the project turn out even better than I had imagined. I highly recommend you contact him when you are planning to add a deck as he has the experience necessary to enhance whatever you are planning. After contacting Charles, on 4/21, for a request for proposal he set up a date and time to do this. He arrived on schedule, spent about half an hour discussing our vision and he proposed what the could do based on the terrain and design we had in mind. He said that he would formally send us a proposal with all the dimensions and costs associated with it via email that same day. I received that email shortly afterwards. We reviewed it and agreed to it and sent it back the next day. We had talked about a possible build date when he could start which turned out to be around the fourth weekend in May. We agreed that this date would be fine. Charles indicated that he would keep us informed, as the day approached, to see if it was still good as he completed other work. Charles called us about two weeks before and said he was on schedule to build on the agreed date. The week before we communicated again and all was good to go. The materials for the build were delivered on 5/23, in the afternoon, and Charles arrived promptly a 7am the next day to start the build. We conferred once more to finalize the begin location he started the build. Charles got quite far the first day and returned the next day to finish the work. During all this time he, and his assistant, were very courteous and spent very little time away from the work. In fact I thought that they'd never stopped from start to finish. We are very pleased with the way the deck turned out and especially with the materials chosen. Once finished with the build the work area was picked up, all the materials left over were removed and the place was left as if no one had ever been there. A very professional and complete work effort. I would not hesitate to recommend Charles to anyone contemplating to having this type of work done.

Let me begin by saying this entire experience was streamlined and exceeded our expectations. Charles committed to a date, showed up each day ON TIME as scheduled and completed the project in the time frame he gave us... within 1 1/2 days. His craftmanship is meticulous. We shopped different contractors that were more expensive and simply designed a platform deck in our backyard but Charles was the best price and offered us so much more for our money. He designed for our space, installed beautiful rails and finished out our deck with skirting. He even sanded down the hand rails and routered all the edges. He is a true professional and he doesn't take short cuts.

Charles and his associate were great! Charles came out and took measurements and gave us an estimate within 24 hours (he was the only contractor to do so). He also gave us a detailed drawing and date within 48 hours. They showed up on Saturday worked all day through the intense heat and came back on Sunday and competed the job just as he said. The deck is great and the price was what he quoted! They also completely cleaned up the site and restored everything back to normal. We love our deck and we truly appreciate Charles' work and professionalism. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a deck built correctly and priced well.

Charles knows deck building. Look no further...Charles is a person of high integrity and knowledge. He built us a fabulous deck area that we'll enjoy for years. I obtained bids from two other compeditors; but, nobody came close. We exchanged ideas on the design and content...Charles talked me into doing it his way. You know what? He was right. I could not have asked for a better design or layout within my budget contraints. His attention to detail is tops. It's not about nailing boards together. There is obviously personal pride delivered in his projects. He's punctual and can be relied on. His team worked during our 108 degree weather...he'll be there when he tells you he'll be there. Charles was prompt in arriving on the day of the actual build. He was very professional, friendly, and knowledgable about his craft. We discussed options together and he really helped me to determine the best possible solution for my unique needs. He answered my questions and made me feel comfortable with my decision to move forward. I've had several other bids for the same work and (after all those experiences) I knew right away I would contract him - even before I got the estimate. He did provide an estimate on the same day before he left my house and then followed up with an email so that I would be able to make my own decision in my own time. There was no pressure for a date or a commitment, which I appreciated. On the day of the build, Charles had two assistants to support him but it was clear he lead the construction. He seemed meticulous in his approach. I took pictures throughout the build and was happy to see the quality of the construction as it went up. I love my new deck. I have since recommended Charles to several of my close freinds who have seen the deck first hand and were also very impressed with the results. High quality construction, straight forward & direct communication, simple and to the point. No haggling or hidden fees. Very happy with how it all turned out.

Deck the house said they would be at the house early morning...6:40 and 45 degrees they were here and ready to go. By the time the sun was up and tempature was above 55 degrees they had all the material moved to the back from the driveway and several post holes already done. Be sure to leave the driveway clear the date of material delivery. The crew worked through the day with almost no breaks. The Deck was completed by the afternoon! and looks AWESOME. They will be coming back for part two. Charlie gave some great ideas that I would like to have completed before summer. Don't worry about clean up as they do a great job of picking up after themselves. Everyone was proffessional and courteous and I definetly would recomend them to everyone.

From our first call for an appointment for an estimate, to the time when the crew left after finishing our deck, EVERYTHING was absolutely first class and accomplished with the utmost professionalism. What more can I say? Charles came out to give us an estimate right on the minute of the appointed time. He listened to our needs and my wife's design ideas. I did not hire Charles simply because he did not seem willing to provide an estiamte based on what I asked for.

Charles came to our home 3 times till we choose the deck we wanted. He was very patient and kind. When we finally decided on the one we liked. He came with his crew and worked on a Sat. and Sunday to do his job he was excellent and very professional. We love our deck and it inhances our yard. If you want a very knowledgable person Charles is it. Iwould hesitate to ever use hm again. Awesome deck if I could add pictures I would.

Besides taking an instant liking to him, the mere fact that he himself did the work, and not some crew, we knew he was the man for the job. The deck we wanted was 1200 sq ft, which went over our budget. He worked with us with no problem to cut it down to fit what our budget would allow. It actually came out perfect, better than the original 1200 sq ft. He told us the lumber would be delivered on Monday, he would start on Tuesday, and our deck would be completed by Friday. That is exactly what happened. This deck is 1000+ sq ft (very large) and for him to complete it in 4 days using only one helper says a lot for his character and expertise. Charles and company are top notch. I couldn't have asked for a more professional, competent, absolutely amazing contractor. My 1000 sq ft deck, with skirting, and hand rails was completed in 4 days with only 2 men. That is simply amazing!! We are extremely happy with him and the job he did for us. Charles and his crew did a great job quickly and professionally installing a large arbor. I got several bids and at the end was comfortable with Charles' combination of quality, know-how, and price.

I contacted numerous companies, about 5, before proceeding. I used about two weeks to get all the bids together and do a comparison. Some of the other companies seems like they were either selling hard or on the other extreme did not really care. While others seemed very capable but were slightly more expensive. The range was $5500 for someone who was going to use 2x6s and could not even find my house to Charles (with Desk the House) with treated pine decking and cedar rails for $2400. The average bid was around $3500-$4000. Charles as he states is the company he does not give others orders for a couple minutes leave for the whole project then come back by to pick up the check, he is out their building your deck. The only hiccup in the project was an unexpected rain storm that came through that resulted in his falling a day behind on the project before mine so he delayed my project by a day, but hey no one can do anything about the weather. I could not be more pleased with the work, there is always the fear when you go with the lowest bid but the quality and service were first rate. He said my lumber would get dropped of the day before and HE and his crew would finish in a day and the kept exactly to their word.
