We began with selecting a lot and choosing a floor plan from one of the choices. We asked to have widened doorways for our disabled family member, as well as a handicap shower installed. We were told that the plan would be redrawn by headquarters to reflect these changes. Later, we found out that this was not true, there was no plan redraw. Construction began on time and went pretty fast. They use a lot of non company subs and in my opinion, do not supervise them properly so things are not always done correctly. If you use this builder, have a top notch home inspector (your own) regularly checking on the quality of work throughout the stages of construction, because after the fact, there are construction details that will be covered up and can not be evaluated. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! We did not know that we could do this on our own. The supervising David Weekly Homes contractor assigned to our job was recently out of the military and a really good guy, but lacked necessary experience and there was a lot that he did not know, could not reason out, or problems that he just plain missed. Also, his work load seemed to be excessive to the point that our home construction did not get proper supervision, with the result that some things were not done properly. For example, we paid to upgrade to frameless shower surrounds but only standard framed surrounds were installed. We had to point out the mistake which we would have paid for and not gotten. Problems on the electrical system were missed. There also were a lot of problems with quality of work, and we had to ask them to have subs come back and fix things SEVERAL TIMES. This was finally done and the finishes looked very nice, however, there remained several structural and safety problems with the house. A patio door was improperly framed and dragged badly on the flooring. We were told that the house had passed all city inspections but we suspect that something fishy went on, or that someone wasn't doing their job. There was a lot of heavy pressure to go to closing, but we had hired an extremely well qualified and reputable independent home inspector to do a final inspection for us and he found a lot of problems, which we asked to have fixed. Some were safety issues. Only the little problems were fixed. Some were safety issues (pull-down attic ladder to attic was not fire-rated, walk through garage door into house was not fire rated (needs to be to prevent rapid spread of fire into house). DWHomes would not put in writing that this door was fire rated (did not feel like it was, and not labeled by manufacturer as such). David Weekly Homes reps give a lot of verbal assurances, but READ THE CONTRACT, that alone should make you run, but the contract tips everything in their favor (you sign away your rights to build with them), their contract says that they are not responsible for anything their reps say or represent as true! Have a real estate attorney review the contract before you sign because the contract heavily favors the homebuilder and you have to sign away your rights to build with them. On our independent home inspection lots of problems were found: missing or blocked weep holes all over the exterior (can lead to mold), improperly vented gas fireplace (to an outside covered patio where there are vent that lead to the attic (could allow carbon monoxide to be drawn into attic where it can settle into house), patio railing extremely poorly installed and while some issues shored up, installation done in such a way that would lead to wood rot. Extensive cracks all over outside stucco, suggesting improper installation, which would allow moisture to enter and degrade structure. OTHER SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS TOO NUMEROUS TO MENTION. When they don't want to fix something, they just disagree with your inspector and tell you they did it the "David Weekly Way". There were problems with roof and drainage. They disagreed with our inspector's opinions so we hired a SECOND highly reputable and skilled home inspector. His report was as bad or worse than the first. In the end, we had TWO independent home inspectors with stellar qualifications point out significant structural problems that would lead to future problems. Another interesting thing, there was a lot of heavy pressuring from the company rep that was assigned to us, and the supervising contractor for our construction job to give them the highest rating. They were the two people we were dealing with throughout construction to get the job done....They specifically told us that they would be in deep deep trouble if we did not give them a rating of 10 (highest). We didn't understand why there was all the heavy pressuring (unbelievable amount) unless it was related to a bonus....or....that "top homebuilder of the year" appellation, which is what we suspect. Yeah, don't be fooled by that. We were. We were totally sucked in by that homebuilder of the year title and the energy efficiency. Well, so many things were not done right that we got an attorney. We backed out and got our deposits back. READ THE CONTRACT. Then RUN.
Description of Work: We bought a lot in Rogers Ranch development in San Antonio TX and selected a floor plan. Construction began in a timely manner. We were able to choose all the finishes from their set of choices with the help of an interior decorator from their company design center. There were plenty of choices but you still have to choose from what they offer in their system. A company rep served as contact person for info, questions, requests, changes, and she did a good job. She kept saying, "We want you to be completely happy."

Great. We've built 6 new homes our lifetimes and David Weekly was absolutely the best of all 6. The builder and construction supervisory people were fantastic. Anything we asked for we got. They were amazing to work with. We have been in the house 18 months and absolutely love it. All minor fixes were handled quickly and professionally.

They are in Dallas, Houston, Florida. They cover a wide area. We chose them because we liked their floor plan. They have a good rating as a builder and they built a and ldquo;Green homeand rdquo; and so that was one of the reasons. We went with them because the heating and cooling in South Texas with them, the first 3 years they pretty much guaranteed an average heating and cooling of $50 a month and it does fall within that area. We have just been amazed. They built the home with 2/6 walls and they in put all of the radiant barriers. They had a home in the location we wanted in between Boerne and St. Antonio, so we feel like we have the best of both worlds. We can go to small community when we choose and we have the availability of St. Antonio. They have a warranty on their homes. They have a long structural warranty; then they have a warranty to take care of all the little incidentals that go wrong with a new home. Everything has been covered over warranty, we have not had cost to us for anything that needed to be repaired since we moved in. Their price of their homes is high. The quality of their after services is good because they have come and taken care of every incidental that is come up. There isn't a long waiting period. There has not been a cost. As far as the follow ups, they try and correct the errors and some they can't correct.

David Weekly Homes did a very good job on my house. I don't have any concerns with anything that they did. They were helpful and friendly. They completed my house on time. They paid close attention to specific details and did a great job of cleaning up after themselves.

David Weekly Homes included me in every aspect in building my home. We did change several things in the midst of building and they didn't complain once. They didn't take any short cuts at all. They were very polite and friendly and I have not had any problems with anything.
