David repaired places that needed work, he replaced some trim that needed replacing, he caulked everywhere that needed it. He painted matching the color I requested exactly and now the house looks great. David was friendly, thoughtful, and would ask if he was unsure if I wanted something done before he did it. He did a great job and I'm very pleased with his work.

Beyond all expectations. An artist at what he does. Precise. Skilled. Impeccably honest. Detailed pre-work estimate followed to perfection. A pleasure to work with. Absolutely worth the wait until he could free up his schedule. You can totally rely on his opinion and advice.

Well. David had other jobs, but he knew I had to have my house painted because of a previous renter. David came by my house for a week after hours to finish in time for me to move in.

David and Robert did an absolutely fantastic job painting rooms that I never could have done myself., and the transformation was amazing! It was probably 2,000 sq. feet of floor space, but a lot more in terms of wall and ceiling space, including 20' ceilings and walls, stairway, and all around the kitchen cabinets. The work was outstanding quality, with very crisp lines and a very consistent finish and color. David Hickey is very easy to deal with, he is very professional and communicates well. He is very understanding of affordability concerns and works to make the work he does a great value. He only uses great quality paint and does a second coat everywhere to ensure it is done right. They spent a lot of time, a couple of days, taping and prepping before painting, covering every light, vent, molding, smoke detector, cabinet etc., and I couldn't find a single drip anywhere it didn't belong. I left David a house key, and never got concerned about security. I highly recommend David Hickey and am very pleased with the work he did for me.

Simply stated, my experience with David and his crew was exceptional from beginning to end and I'd hire them again. I plan to make them my first phone call next time I need something done that is paint/drywall related. I first got in touch with David in early February of this year. I found him on Angies list and although he had a modest amount of feedback compared to others, I chose him specifically because he was a small local business (I try to make an effort to support local business when possible). Anyway, we setup an appt for him to stop by my house and bid out for the job. In person, he was both personable and professional and demonstrated excellent detail orientation by walking me through the process and entertaining my many questions pertaining to various details about the job. David was at my house for ~20-30min total. I received the original bid of $2550 the next day (David mentioned it would be 24hrs before I'd receive the bid). One thing that REALLY appealed to me was that, while David is the owner of the company, he'd also be the one coming and painting my house. After receiving the competing bids (1 cheaper, 1 more expensive) David and I agreed to the final price of $2450 and a start date of mid to late March (David was straight forward while at my house about other jobs he had in the pipeline and about when a realistic start date would be). My wife and I weren't in any kind of a hurry and were more than happy to tradeoff schedule for what we perceived as the scheduling of a good contractor. As we got close to mid March David contacted me to finalize the date he could start the job, March 23rd. He mentioned it would take 1 day to power wash everything and about 2-3 days to do two coats on the exterior. Everything went as described with really no hiccups at all. We barely knew when David and his crew were even here they were that non-intrusive (yes I know it was an exterior job but I've had "intrusive" contractor work on the exterior before). At the start of each day of work, David and his crew would show right around 8:30-9am, setup the ladders and drop clothes and get right to work. At the end of each day of work everything was cleaned up and put away. When painting my garage door David went so far as to request my garage door opener so he could raise the door enough exposing the innards of the creases between the slats. These are things I wouldn't even think of until contractors are long gone typically so it was nice (and certainly appreciated) to have hired one that was so detail/customer oriented. It's been about 2 months now, I've walked around the house several times, and have yet to see any imperfections, honest. I generally don't like dealing with contractors but looking back, there wasn't a single uncomfortable exchange or experience with David, even when it came to the money. That, coupled with the high quality job, made for a very satisfying experience and the feeling that the money was well spent. Jon

I initially contracted David to repair some damaged drywall and then paint the room and the living room. He did such a great job and at a good price that I asked him to paint my stairway banister and landing. The second job was just a successful as the first. He is a consummate professional. You won't go wrong with hiring David!

This was one of the best service experiences I've had. David was great to work with from the initial phone call to the estimate, to scheduling and performing the work. His pricing was great which made me happy to tip him well for an excellent job. He kept me updated on the scheduling (which was dependent on completing a previous job) and was able to start right when he estimated and finish on time. His work exceeded our expectations. We have woodwork around our doorways and a unique staircase which had many different angles for him to paint as it spirals down. He executed perfectly around all of the doorways and along the staircase. He was able to finish the job quickly and not sacrifice quality. I can't speak highly enough of him or his work and would recommend him to anyone.

We haven't painted it yet to see the final effect, but everything looks very well done at this point. He was on-time, kept the areas clean and stayed on the expected schedule. He also had good suggestions for how to paint the repaired areas, which we are doing ourselves this time. He pays attention to detail and you can tell that the quality of the work is important to him. We'll be calling him in the future.

Our 2600 sq ft 2 story home home had not been painted since it was constructed in the mid 2000's and was in dire need of paint and caulk. There were also many areas where the masonite had broken and had started to become like cardboard and flake and peel. David's quote came in considerably less than the next closest bid. In addition to the washing and painting, he replaced, primed, and painted several rotted pieces of masonite on our columns; repaired some window casings that had been damaged over the years; and bleached and restained some extremely weather worn decorative shutters. He communicated well with us over the course of the job and when rain delayed the finish by a few days, he let us know exactly when the work would be done by.

Job was completed ahead of schedule and was done extremely well. The wall texturing matched the rest of the house perfectly. I am extremely impressed with David's skills and would recommend him to anyone.

This is the third time that we have hired David for work. As per previous projects, he was punctual, pleasant and thorough in his work. The job was completed in one day and looks great.

David replaced water damaged drywall in the great room from a AC leak in the attic. He also painted the affected ceiling. He was professional and courteous. He also kindly changed a light bulb in a very high light fixture. I would gladly use David again. Thanks, David.

Although I did not hire David, he delivered a prompt estimate and was a joy to work with. I will use him in the future for larger jobs.

We hired David to paint three medium-sized bedrooms for us in our new house. One of the rooms had very irregular angels and surfaces, and another had a very loud black and red polka dot paint job to go over. David did a fantastic job. He was punctual, thorough and did a great job of explaining things along the way and giving us good options to choose from. He even mixed a custom white for us that he used to paint over a red door and get it very, very close to the other white doors in the house. Completely happy with David and would highly recommend him.

Our icemaker developed a leak which caused substantial water damage to our living room and dining room. Part of the drying process included removing the bottom 1-3 feet of drywall from both rooms. After everything dried out, we called David to replace and texture the drywall. We're acting as our own general contractors for the complete process, so in calling David we had a limited timeframe to complete the drywall process before the carpenters and flooring contractors came in. David was prompt in showing up to give us an estimate and detailed his expectations of what the process would take in terms of time, while also managing our expectations and stipulating that factors such as humidity could alter the timing a bit. Over the course of two days (including one on the weekend), David worked probably 4 more hours than he had initially estimated due to factors beyond his control. The finished product is great and looks like new. David is a good communicator, easily accessible, punctual, and has quality craftsmanship. I would definitely call him again.

Amazingly fast service. I contacted David at 9:46 one morning trying to find someone who could repair damage to a wall hopefully within the next 2-3 days. David had the repair completely finished by 4:45 that same day! It helped me a lot that he could rearrange his schedule on such short notice. That will not always be possible, but it was a great first experience with him. A door accidentally got slammed into a wall, and the knob punched a hole through the drywall. The house is for sale, and the damage occurred right inside the entrance. If a potential buyer had seen damage as soon as entering the house, that would have been a really bad first impression. I found David to be very knowledgeable and easy to work with. His finished work matched the existing interior exactly. It is not likely any potential buyer will ever notice that damage occurred there.

We were extremely pleased with David. He was meticulous in his work, and he was very prompt, he arrived exactly when he said he would over the course of 4 days. We would highly recommend him for any painting project.

I've hired over a dozen painters over the years and David is the best I've come across. Before I joined Angie's List a couple of months ago, I had previously hired David to paint the full interior of one house (including popcorn removal and adding texture) and a few rooms in another house. Those jobs went so well, he was the first on my list to hire for this latest job. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.

Right from the beginning David was there, responsive and reliable. Prompt response to setup bid, came to make bid, and worked with my schedule when I was able to have him come in and do the repairs. David is professional, courteous, always kept me informed on the job that he was doing and any special needs. The work he performed was top notch. I have a difficult texture to duplicate and a large patch in my kitchen ceiling to fill and mask. He matched the texture and blended it with the existing texture where needed on the walls. The ceiling patch is virtually invisible. Both the mask and float and the texture are right in line with the existing ceiling. He even fixed someone else's poor patch job and made it look 100x better. During the entire job he was courteous, kept the work area clean, and made sure everything was protected. And gave me some pointers on how and when I should paint after everything dries completely. Great Job. I will always call David when I, or anyone else I know, need work done on the house!

I had a bunch of settling cracks in my walls and ceilings that needed repair. I hired David after getting quotes from him and 2 other companies. I chose him based on the reviews here, and the fact that he was very friendly and VERY thorough when going through the house and writing notes on what needed done. He showed up on time and finished the work in a couple days which was right on schedule. Would definitely recommend, especially if you like the person you talk to actually doing the work!

We hired David and team to tape/mud/sand drywall for our kitchen renovation. David fit us into his busy schedule, his team worked two weekends and completed the scope of work in the time frame quoted. We requested a smooth finish (no texture) on walls and ceiling and his team completed to highest level of quality. I chose David from the all the excellent reviews he had on Angie's List and the many repeat customers that he has. I can certainly see why, because he was so pleasant, professional and meticulous. His estimate covered 2 coats of paint on the walls and ceilings and it definitely needed it. Other paint companies quoted me only one coat of paint for about the same price. David also covered everything (and I mean everything) so no furniture, fixtures or floors would get paint on them. And he would clean up the tarps and equipment every evening before calling it a day. He's such a pleasure to do business with and we plan to use his services again for an exterior project later this year. I highly recommend him. I am now one of his repeat customers!

David was always very courteous and professional in his personal and professional conduct. He conducted a detailed walk-thru with us to determine what work was to be done, and provided a detailed contract with costs. He arrived on the job on time and worked consistently through the day. Always cleaned up work debris and collected his tools at the end of the day. As we were stilling living in our home during this time he worked around our need to access restroom and kitchen. (We were set up to spend the day in our music studio which was not being painted). Overall, we are very satisfied with the resulting work.

Excellent job in every way! David's attention to detail, perfection and clean-up are amazing. His careful selection of quality paints to match the original colors was much appreciated. All lines are precise and he left no spills or smudges. David and his company have been painting numerous house jobs both inside and out for us as well as small construction and drywall work since 2005. The quality of his work is always the best.
