Very well, came in and got the job done in a timely manner!!
Description of Work: I called several places this morning but most told me that they only had time for emergency calls. County wide responded and was at my house within a couple of hours. Edgar was very professional, took his time to check out my air conditioner and even helped me program my A/C. Definitely would use their service again!!

They did good work. The current work they are doing is about $5,000.

I used this company this year due to air conditioning issue. I thought it was my thermostat but I wasn't sure. They came out and looked at all the AC units and determined it was the thermostat. The guy told me he could replace the thermostat that day, he had one in the truck. He told me it would be$280.00, I agreed. When he came back in with the thermostat he said he didn't have the one he quoted me the price on so it would be a little more and it was not a programmable thermostat. I needed the AC fixed so I said ok. He replaced the thermostat which was smaller than the one I had in place. So now I have a small hole in the wall next to the thermostat that is at eye level and it needs to be painted to match the color of the wall. It cost me $320.00 to get a thermostat that cost about $25.00. I think I got screwed.

I called County Wide Monday morning to set up an appointment for the same day. The main reason for the call was to flush out the ac drains which had backed up into the units, but decided the units needed maintenance anyway. They scheduled the service between 1 - 4 pm but said they might be able to show up sooner. For me, the sooner the better. They called and said that they would be on their way and showed up around 11:30 am. The tech (#259) was very professional and definitely knew what he was doing. He cleaned out the drains and serviced the two units. For anything that would add to the cost, he would inform us about the extra charge and would only proceed once we gave the ok. The $20 Angies List coupon also came in handy. He did talk about a maintenance agreement but didn't push it on us like some other companies do. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and the ac is operating better than it has in years. I would definitely recommend County Wide to anyone needing hvac repairs.
Description of Work: The service call was to flush the ac drains and to service the two ac units.

I called on a weekday morning and the phone was answered promptly by a very polite and enthusiastic woman. Despite the fact that it was not an emergency service, she made arrangements to have a technician visit my house the very same day; in fact, within just a few hours of my call. I requested that the technician call me before heading to my house so I could crate my dogs before the visit, and they were happy to comply with this. The technician called at the specified time, arrived on time, and did a fantastic, thorough job cleaning and inspecting the heater. Frankly, I have no idea what he actually did, because I wasn't watching and I don't know anything about HVAC stuff, but the heater worked well when used, and didn't create a burning smell or s*** dust everywhere. This is pretty impressive, because the heater and house are old, and last year I neglected to have anyone service it prior to use, and it smelled like burning hair whenever the heat was on. This year there was no smell, no dust, and the heater didn't make any alarming sounds or have trouble starting up. We ended up buying the $110 service plan, which is an excellent value; they will service your heater in the fall, and your air conditioner in spring. Totally worth it to not worry about catching the house on fire or having your air conditioner get clogged up and break. The tech was very nice to my cats, didn't leave any dust, debris, paint chips, etc. in the area he was working in, and clearly explained what he was doing as he was working (I wasn't listening as well as I thought I was, unfortunately.) I would have no reservations about recommending County Wide to friends and family.

Arrived on time, did thorough job, repaired problem. I was not clear as to what work (time) was included in the service call charge and what would be billed on top of the service call charge, so there was a charge for time over and above the service call charge, but overall the price was reasonable.

On September 10, 2010, I purchased Angie's List "Big Deal" for $55.00 which would provide "Home A/C inspection, cleaning, tune-up, and more!". The County Wide receptionist gave me an appointment for the day after I called. But she had no idea what the "and more!" would cover. James, the A/C tech, arrived early and got right to work. He spent considerable time in my hot attic (more than I would) and then opened the outside unit. He seemed very thorough, checking pressure and electric readings; he then declared the System within specks. He also did not know what "and more" ment. He did not do as much cleaning of the unit as other service men have. He was unaware of Angie's Big Deal but, after some discussion, he took my confirmation email of the deal and marked his $79.82 bill paid in full. I was overall satisfied with the service and would use County Wide again if their rates were more in lilne with some of the other offers I received this past summer.
Description of Work: "Summer checkout" of central A/C system. The components in the attic and outside were performance checked .

My parents, who are in their 80's called because their air conditioner was not working. The temperatures have been around 100 degrees every day. I live 1 1/2 hours away. County Wide checked out the situation and said they could come fix it in a day or so. When I called and told them the situation, that I was on my way to San Antonio to get my parents out of the heat, they immediately went above and beyond! Someone was at their house before I arrived, they set up a little temporary A/C unit in their bedroom (so they had a cool room until the A/C could be replaced). One of the guys actually gave them his personal phone number in case something happened over night. I was able to return to my home. The next day the job was completed and someone came to check that evening to make sure it was all up and running perfectly! My folks never got hot, didn't need to be in a hotel or come home with me. GOOD JOB COUNTY WIDE!!!! And thank you so much for helping so quickly! Amy Schoolfield

The trainee was a nice guy. Overall I would say my AC is fixed. I did have thoughts of the tech making more damage with the fire than was he was originally called out for. Overall I wished he explained what he was doing and how it would effect my bill.
Description of Work: The tech came round on time, and my AC did work after he left. but Would I say the lead tech was happy/cheerful …. Answer no Would I say he was 100% professional…….. Answer no Did the lead tech talk to me at all about price…Answer no Was the price different from what I was quoted….. Answer yes Did the lead tech tell me he was doing more work which would put up the price…Answer no Did the lead tech care about the flames coming out of my AC unit outside which the flames were getting extremely close to the wiring…....Answer no Did I have to point out 3 times before he took notice that I have a hose-pipe in my yard which puts out fires…Answer yes At the point of the fire, did I think that they have all their family and friends making up false good reviews for angies list…..ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

Response from County Wide Service Company
Our Operations Mgr has left a message and we hope to speak with Mr. Bayley in person. Our records indicate that a phone estimate for pulling and cleaning the evaporator was given for approximately $650 and did not include the additional repair of the refrigerant leak which was discovered during the work. Even though the owner supervised the additional work, we regret not communicating the amount of the work being performed. The flames at the outdoor unit were a controlled flame that is common when oil is trapped in a copper line during brazing. It was at no time a danger to the property. All service trucks carry fire extinguishers as emergency precautions. Using water as suggested from a garden hose on an open refrigerant line could cause significant damage to the mechanical system. Our office hours are from 7am to 7pm every day of the year, with an on-duty manager available for call backs. We encourage our customers to call immediately so any problems can be addressed and solved before the technician leaves the customers home. We are very proud of our Angie's List rating as are our technicians. We share the reviews with them at our semi-monthly safety meetings and will share this one as well to increase awareness and customer service.

From the first meeting at which time the estimator did a survey of our current situation to the end when I received a packet to send to CPS for a rebate the job was handled with courtesy and professionalism. All steps of the process were explained and any questions I had were answered. The price was, I think a little high, but as the saying goes "you get what you pay for' The results are amazing. We have lived in this house for 38 years and have always been able to discern temperature changes as we walked from room to room. Not anymore. The temperature is even throughout the house. The results of their testing between pre replacement and post replacement show we had a 25.8% air flow leakage in the system. The installers were here for 2 days then came back on the third day to test and calibrate the system. The first night they were not able to hook us up for heat so we used an electric space heater and they were concerned about not being able to provide us heat the second night so stayed until 7:00 PM to complete the job. I would recommend this company to anyone.

My husband and I returned home after a weekend trip to discover our heating unit not running and our house icy!! After looking on Angie's List for a high-rated company, I called County Wide Service, expecting a day or two before they could schedule me. They said a technician was in my area and he was here in LESS THAN 20 MINUTES!!!!! I'm not kidding. Edgar was very kind, competent and professional and determined in just a few minutes that an internal breaker had tripped in our heater. He reset the breaker, checked everything on the inside unit and outside compressor and answered all my questions on potential future problems with our old unit. My total cost was only $62.57 after Edgar let me use my $20 new customer coupon from Angie's List. Had County Wide been less honest, they could have told me I needed a new unit right now and I would have spent thousands of dollars. You know who I will call when we DO need to replace the unit. Thank you, County Wide Service!

I recently purchased a house which had been on the market for almost 2-years. Since the heating and cooling systems are a major part of a house, I wanted these systems thoroughly tested before I moved in. Country Wide, was able to schedule an appointment on short notice. The technician arrived and performed the requested service. During his visit, I asked about an upgrade to my thermostat control. On the spot, they were able to provide me a quote, pulled a unit from stock on the truck, and installed during the original service visit.

The initial call I made was to replace a duct that an animal had detached and ruined in our attic. The person came out and inspected the attic and the damaged airway; he wrote up the cost of replacing that one duct but also pointed out that because the house was 27 years old, the remaining duct work was very brittle from all the excessive heat. After going through the house and taking measurements, he also wrote up a quote for replacing all the ducts and blowing in insulation. He was very thorough on explaining my options and what each process would involve. My husband and I decided to have all the duct work replaced. The following week, two gentlemen came out and did preliminary measruements of air flow and specific design of the layout. The work was scheduled for two days the next week, with the third day being allowed for a city inspector to see that the duct work was up to code and then the fourth day the insulation would be blown into the attic. The workmen arrived promptly, dismantled all the old ductwork, put in new ductwork, cut a scud hole in a back bedroom closet for easier access to the whole attic, They laid out plastic in the house to minimize the debris on my floors and when they finished each day, they picked everything up and vacuumed the areas. They worked very long days those two days, but got everything finished by the end of the second day, including checking the airflow readings in each room. Someone from the office called and scheduled the city inspector to come the thrid day. On the fourth day, two of the men came back and blew in the insulation. Again they cleaned up after themselves and checked the areas to make sure that everything was finished and clean before they left. I am impressed with the timeliness and effort they put into the job. They communicated with me as they went so I always knew what was going on. The only thing I would do differently would be to watch a bit more closely on any cosmetic carpentry that was done inside the house -- I don't think their strength is in carpentry, but it was passable. Overall, I would have them back again -- they are very hard workers. The company also did the paperwork for an energy rebate from CPS; I have not received it yet, but all I have to do is sign it and mail it in -- they have completed the details on the form.

I have two A/C units. I asked if they would do the second unit for the "Big Deal" price but they refused. They said they found a leak in my unit and it would cost me over $4000 because they said the coil was not warrantied. I then called the original installer of the unit (it was only 4 yrs. old) and they stated that indeed it was still under warranty. So I had them install the unit.

In spite of an irritating salesman who came in too strong, we decided to replace an aged A/C unit rather than try to make significant repairs. The work was done in one day with a succesions of technicians in the different fields involved (duct work, electrician...). They were unobtrusive; we requested and got a walkthrough at the end. They cleaned all their work area and even vacuum cleaned the stairs and hallway they had used. The paper work involved in the CPS rebate and IRS credit followed within a week filled out and ready to use. Only time will tell how good the quality of the work.

I noticed that no air was getting to 2 rooms. County Wide sent out an estimator free of charge. He was able to come w/in one day of my call. When he initially got out here, he seemed to be under the impression that I was merely looking to maximize the efficiency of my ducting, so I had to explain that my air flow typically was fine, but that I had NO air going to 2 rooms that previously had air and I wasn't looking to re-do all my ductwork. After that, he quickly found the problem of the broken duct seams in the attic. He gave me an estimate of $400 to fix the problem and better secure unaffected ducts. This price included extra time that would need to be spent taking apart an A/C unit to get to the ductwork. Later that day, I called the office to schedule the work. It was scheduled for several days later. On the scheduled day I did not receive a call as early as I expected, so I called them. I was told that my job had slipped through the cracks and they were involved in a big job and would not be out that day. I was rescheduled for about a week later. Luckily, I was not using the rooms w/o the air much, so this was okay. On the rescheduled day, they came and got the job done. The repairman was able to squeeze through a very tight space and therefore avoided having to take apart the A/C unit that the estimator thought might have to come apart.
Description of Work: reconnected two ducts that had come apart in attic. resecured all ducts w/ nylon straps. had to crawl through tight space to reach ducts.
