On the first day on the job Cliff was superb. He had two men on the team and they the installed the front gate with expertise. He uses quality wood and materials. On the following days it was Cliff and/or his wife working. As the job progressed Cliff stated personal issues and the work quality was erratic. In requesting repairs to errors, I received long, rambling texts or emails that were not germane to the project. Yet Cliff would appear and try to fix the problems. Some problems were corrected, others will require a diffierent a contractor. Cliff's rates were very competitive and when he is focused, he does good work. BBB did not confirm Cliff's business card A+ rating or status. Cliff's Fence business address is inaccurate. Cliff would not give me an address for further communication. I paid Cliff in full and blocked him to just move on..

Just had a $4500 Cliff's fence installed. Too much space is needed to explain this complete process, so let me just list the good and bad: Good: Cliff uses plated screws instead of nails—outstanding. He agreeded to build the wooden fence as I asked, which was exactly like the 20 year old one replaced—great customer service. Price, right in line with others. Bad: Cliff does not do the work, he hires Subs. This would be OK but is not because he does not monitor or direct that the work be done correctly. My finished fence looked great until I took a closer inspection (after I had paid however). All cross braces that the pickets attach to were screwed to the upright 4/4 posts with one screw only. I found a dozen of these screws to be the short 1 1/4 inch picket screws. I found a half dozen cross braces that fit tightly with no screws holding them in place at all. Probably two dozen or more of the 4 inch pickets were not screwed to the upper or lower cross braces at all (one screw holding the 6 foot picket to one cross brace. The bottom 1/4 inch board that runs along the ground was placed so high that a 2 inch gap Was open under most of the fence. The fence pickets were so green they warped and shrunk showing gaps within a week of completion. Repair: when I texted Cliff about the green wood pickets, he started a tirade of texts about me ******** plus numerous other insulting texts until I told him "Stop, you have said enough". Then just blocked his phone number to put a stop to it all. I have bought $200 worth of 1/6 inch cedar boards, cut and replaced the 4 inch bottom boards that hovered 2 inches above the ground, Also bought exterior 2 1/2 and 3 inch screws, pilot drilled and double screwed all the horizontal 2/4 picket braces. There were a number of other things done incorrectly that I caught during the construction. The contractor Cliff Anderson should have been the quality control officer, not me. If you have the knowledge of fence building and the time to watch the whole construction process and don’t mind being the supervisor you can probably get a quality wooden fence built with screws. Otherwise, I can not recommend Cliff's Fence.

Cliff was having some personnel problems. Never sure who or how many were going to show up and that made the project go slower than it should have. Cliff was very good in taking care of "special" needs due to having some very ingenious people working for him. Overall, a good job done for us, I would hire him again..

Not that great. Despite giving clear instructions where the front fence was to be located, it was not placed as requested and the owner got extremely irritated with me when I asked that it be moved and positioned as discussed. He insisted that the installer was a "top installer" who needed no supervision, yet there were numerous issues with the work. While the most obvious issues were corrected, I feel like we paid top dollar for an OK fence. The "professionalism" rating is for the owner, not the installer.
