 + -1 moreThey returned my phone calls very quickly and they were upfront about how the process was going to proceed. I actually wasn't home at the time that they needed to start and I left my house open, but I didn't have any problems with them. The work that they did seems to be fine. They weren't the cheapest guys around but other than I have nothing to complain about. They were very honest and didn't try to sell me anything that I didn't need.
Description of Work: I had two water heaters replaced by C.A.P.P.S. Plumbing.

 + 1 moreI had contacted them on a Sunday and they worked me in their schedule Monday morning even though his mother was having surgery later that day. It was a big relief since we were catching a flight Monday to be a gone week and we were leaving our sons home alone. He did a great job and we would highly recommend them to anyone. They were also recommended to us by our daughter and son-in-law who had them do some work for them.
Description of Work: We had a stopped up main drain and he came out and got it unstopped quickly and efficiently and charged us a very fair price.

 + -1 moreArt showed up on schedule with all necessary materials. Installation went without a hitch, he was professional, extremely competent and finished the job quicker than I expected. Since we had to wait for a city code compliance officer to inspect, we weren't able to use our new stove the night of installation but there was no way around that. Art came back on Friday, 18 Apr after working all day to remove a gauge the inspection required and then helped to ensure the stove was connected and working properly. CAAPS plumbing took care of scheduling the inspection and everything works perfectly. We are very happy with their service and would recommend to our Angie's List friends to use CAPPS.

 + -1 moreArt showed up around 11 am and I showed him where the leak was coming up in the front yard. He dug around and found the source of the leak (a cracked coupling). He explained to me that it was probably caused by ground shifting and there was nothing I could have done to prevent it. He was able to replace the cracked pipe in under an hour. We waited for about 15 mins to let the glue dry and then he had me turn the water back on. Presto, like magic everything was restored to normal. Art truly embodies his company's name Courteous, Affordable, Professional Plumbing Services. I will definitely use his company again!!

I usually leave a message about what needs to be repaired and the office manager calls me back in a timely manner with their availability. I have never had any complaints or problems with any work performed by CAPPS Plumbing. Great service and I highly recommend this company.

 + -1 moreAfter replacing the water softner we still heard water running. When I called the gentleman kindly explained that they would not come back out to find the leak because C.A.P.P.S. did not have the equipment to find leaks that you can't see. He suggested I call Leak Detection that specifically works on leaks that don't surface and can't be seen. Leak Detection is the only company in SA that has the equipment to do this type of work. So why didn't they say that in the first place instead of coming out to the call. The leak had to be in the slab or underground somewhere. I did appreciate him referring me to another company that could help and he did find one of our problems but that wasn't the water I was hearing that made me call a plumber. The water softener was only adding a very small amount to our water bill. From what I can tell about 1.50 a month. When it was all said and done the leak ended up being at the main water line directly at the entry of the house. The water was going straight down and the ground by the leak wasn't even wet.
Description of Work: I only paid for the house call. I was a little disappointed because they identified what we thought was a leak as the water softner regenerating that needed replacing. Once that was found zoom they were gone. I felt like they could have shut down the main to the softener and they would have noticed the water was still running at the meter. I thought he could have spent a little more time ensuring that was the main problem before leaving. Checking the water meter would have taken all of two minutes to see that wasn't the problem.

 + 0 moreWe had noticed a faint gas smell in our guest room for several months. We were planning on having guests sleeping in the room, so we decided to finally take care of the issue. At first, we tried to have it fixed under warranty. They referred us to our gas company, who sent out a technician immediately. He informed us that yes, we did indeed have a gas leak and then promptly turned off the gas to our home, specifically our central heater. We had no heat during nights when temperatures were in the low 30's. We looked for plumbers on Angie's List and called two of the top-rated companies. Both are big companies and both quoted us about $500 to find the gas leak and then another $300-500 to repair the leak. We were looking at an estimated $1000 repair right before Christmas! It's highway robbery, I tell ya! A friend told us about C.A.P.P.S. and we checked this site before calling them. Jackie, Art' s wife, runs the office. She was very friendly and explained how the big companies worked. Art is a master plumber and I believe it is just him and his wife running the business. He wasn't able to come out until the following day but we managed with space heaters. Art was immediately able to find the leak which happened to be at the meter near our exterior wall. It was a quick and easy repair and luckily he didn't find any other leaks. He charges per hour including parts. Our total cost was $197.00 for about 1.5 hours of work. We were very pleased with his work, his honesty and transparency regarding his charges. He saved our Christmas! We were so pleased that we hired him again after the holidays to perform a long-overdue repair on a dripping shower valve in our main bathroom. This was also about a 1.5 hour job for which he charged us $198.00 including parts. C.A.P.P.S. Plumbing is who we will always call and who we will always refer our friends to for any plumbing issues.

 + -1 moreIt went well, HOWEVER the plumber hooked up the faucet wrong, he hooked up the cold pipe to the hot and vice versa. A simple mistake that I fixed two days later myself but I shouldn't have to do that.

 + -1 moreAfter getting a very high quote from another company for this job, I contacted CAPPS based on a recommendation from my realtor. The first company said they were going to have to tear out part of the wall to get to the area where the shut-off valve had to go. CAPPS was able to tell from photos I sent them that they could pull the pipe from the attic, install the shut-off valve on the pipe, and then reinstall the pipe, all without having to mess up the walls. They gave me a rough estimate of $250, since it was based on just photos, and then when the technician came, he confirmed the quote before he started the work. He did a great job and the final price was less than what they quoted me.
Description of Work: Installed secondary shut-off valve on gas fireplace plumbing.

They responded in about 25 minutes after they called and we figured out what was going on. They are very professional and competent people. I would highly recommend them.  + -1 moreCAPPS responded within 20 minutes to the voicemail but then refused to send someone to help us. If the leak could have waited until the next day, we wouldn't have called a 24hr provider. With a houseful of guests, going without water for 24hrs was unacceptable.
Description of Work: CAPPS prominently advertises 24-hr service but they refused to respond to a midnight call over a leaking pipe. They told us to turn off the water and call back the next day. We had an event at the house the next day - that wasn't an acceptable solution. Do not rely on CAPPS for 24hr service.

Description of Work: Came out on the same day for an emergency call. I had no water in the house. The day prior my water softener(WS) had started leaking while I was at work. My daughter put it on service. Jackie informed me over the phone that the softener may have had it's resin leaking into the pipes which could cause a blockage. Since I have an older WS this seemed a possibility. Jackie kept me informed throughout the day as to when I could be expecting call. When Art got there, we went over everything and I left him to work. Within a matter of five minutes he let me know that a valve to the WS had been turned off and that also turned off the water to the house. There was resin in the faucet filters, which he showed me, but it was not the problem thank goodness.

When the gentleman came out, he explained that I had purchased the incorrect faucet to work on my kitchen sink. He very kindly explained what I needed to get. I was sure he would charge me a service visit, but instead he said to exchange the faucet and call him back when I was ready. NO charge for my mistake. I rescheduled and he came back out and installed the faucet. The work was good and no mess.

Description of Work: Installed valve for bathtub/shower. I was re-tiling bathtub due to age of house that still had drywall rather than hardie cement board in shower since it was caving in. Tile installers were unable to install new Price Pffister 3 knob that included a valve. I thought easy installation since I stayed with the 3 knob & valve was included (which I researched & valve is not usually included but needed w/new items) .. but due to 40 year old house plumbing renovations needed to install valve including soldering & adjustments to existing plumbing. When I called the same day that tile installers told me that they could not install new shower head & handles & I needed to call a plumber... I went to my Angie's list & called plumber's with A ratings. C.A.P.P.S. was at the head of Angie's list but when I initially called they could not come out for 2 days due to an emergency call involving flooding.. I still booked them for 2 days later & decided I needed to stop tile installation on my shower/bathtub until plumbing was installed. I was called about an hour or 2 later & told Art could come out immediately since things had changed & he was available. He did a very professional job & he didn't even mind my tile installers watching him the whole time to learn from him. I still kept my appointment for 2 days later to send him to my 95 year old father-in-laws house (who lives a block away from me) to fix his bathroom fixture since I was so impressed with him. All tile & drywall had been removed before he came so he did not need to cut into drywall & wall was ready for plumbing repair. He charges $90.00/hour but even if this seems high it is much lower than the other estimates I received on the phone that day & he only charged me for 1+1/2 hour labor which I think most plumbers charge for full hour over 1 hour or for 2 hours total. He did charge a $5.00 gas charge, but I was happy to pay as well as for the materials: 1/2 copper, soldering kit, cooling gel. coup + other items in materials totaled only $28.63. I am currently making up a list of plumbing items in my house I want him to come back to fix that I have put off. Highly recommend......All 6 'A' ratings.
