Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Searching for and purchasing a home is extremely stressful, but an unprofessional and incompetent agent makes the process unbearable. I worked with my agent, Mary Esther Carrasco, for approximately 3 and 1/2 months for the sale of my home and looking for a new home. The agent's performance for the sale of my home was tolerable, she made some errors (not clearly informing me of my time deadlines on the contract and options as far as negotiating price) but nothing preventing my home from being sold with a small profit to use for the next purchase. The search for a new home, though, was intolerable. I never felt like she was listening to me and my requirements for a new home (location, type of home, price, and age). I believe she had a "vision" of the type of house she wanted me to be in, and she discouraged my favorites and kept showing me homes knowing I wouldn't be interested in them (ie. garden homes knowing I told her multiple times, no garden homes, I want a backyard). Once I found a home I liked and wanted to buy, the entire time she kept discouraging me from purchasing the home. She continualy told me the house was too much for me and I didn't know what I was getting in to. I found her comments very rude and insulting to me as a person and my judgment. I told her I heard her concerns, researched my options on the home, disagreed with her opinion, wanted to go forward with the sale of the home, and told her to do what I told her to do. She gave me a list of inspectors and told me she could not recommend any particular inspector, but then starred several inspectors she preferred. When I chose and scheduled with an inspector she had not recommended, she clearly expressed her displeasure with my choice and tried to talk me out of using him. I stood firm, but all the while she complained about the inspector, the thoroughness of the inspector, and the amount of time involved in the inspection. When the purchase of the home deteriorated (the seller had financial problems), I discovered errors Mary Esther made in the contract: she did not email me a list of repairs the sellers agreed to make and she did not include the repairs the seller agreed to make into the contract. This error prevented me from collecting damages against the seller or forcing the sale of the home under the agreed terms. Furthermore, when it was time to terminate the contract, some how the situation changed from me releasing the sellers from the contract to me breaching the contract. For some unknown reason, Mary Esther's advice changed from the house being too much for me to handle to I must purchase the house or be in breach. Because I did not trust Mary Esther to represent my interests, I chose to walk away from the sale losing some money, rather that having to deal with Mary Esther or her broker any further. I did have the money I paid returned by the seller, but I still have some damages. While Mary Esther is not responsible for all the problems with the transaction, her lack of professionalism and contractual errors exasterbated the horrifc experience.
