Great for small projects but do not go to him for a big project. He cannot adhere to deadlines. While we are unhappy about dropping >$1000 to have a lawyer review the contract, we are happy that we did not sign a contract with him. He was unresponsive, could never get cost estimates together in a timely fashion, and blamed everyone else for delays.

BJCO was very difficult to work with and I am still not sure why Blair Jones would execute a job so poorly. I hired an architect and engineer and a decorator to facilitate success but Bjco does whatever he feels like once he has your deposit and “his contract “. For example my closet doesn’t look like my architectural drawings at all. He worked at my house for a year and he subcontractor (Todd the wood shop ) drops off some white library looking shelves with nonstandard hanger bars that make clothes extend beyond where they should. We had to fight to get standard closet hanger bars. I also hired him to paint my kitchen cabinets with high gloss and restoration of my O’Neil Ford originally built in bookcase ( I was given the choice paint ($)or restoration $$$$). They proceeded to lose some of my O’Neil Ford bookshelves and confused kitchen shelves with bookshelves, creating a lot of work for me. I also asked that my Andersen Patio sliding doors be installed per manufacturers instructions and that didn’t happen. They were installed on Saturday with me as the only supervisor while I tried to get a hold of Blair. ( no luck) It was working with someone who was passively aggressively mean to me, doing the opposite of what I said ( spraying paint with texture when I said no texture, level 5). He tried using Sherwin Williams paint when I specifically asked for Benjamin Moore and paid extra- he learned quickly they are different colors even with color match. He put in cheap insulation when I asked for foam and I had to go every day I could because of the mistakes/deceptions. I had to stand in front of wall and block men from trying to talk me into leaving a moldy shower inside a wall and cover with foam and drywall. Blair Jones also considers every mistake of his a “ change order” so beware of that. He also didn’t pay the electrician on my job but he did pay the tile man who refused to correct his errors. ( refuse?) He paid the cabinets man and I have 3 shelves too short , improperly drilled holes in cabinets ( too big) , a bathroom cabinet that is not what I ordered and was dropped 3 times during delivery, and drawer problems. I also have 5 split hinges ( he fixed 4) in the kitchen, a hole in the laundry room floor ( he was going to leave a live drain In my closet 😡- luckily I was able to talk to the plumbers and fix that ) but he threw out the wood hole. Bjco also threw in the trash much of the hardware to my Andersen windows screen doors ( because no supervision a lot of dumb things happen). I’m still trying to track down all the parts myself to fix the screen doors that occasionally fall off the house. It was a horrible experience and I wish I had never met Blair Jones. He is also so gutless he runs away from his mistakes and stiffs other people/businesses with his tab.

A nightmare. In 2 hours on first day, 8 men removed the 15 x 15 foot deck (it would have been fine with 2 men) and by Day Two the new one was up. What's the problem?? He used UNTREATED wood for the deck! By the time I found out it was up already. I told him to stop the job. He convinced me a few coats of Sherwin Williams was all it needed to protect it and he'd have to requote me and be paid to tear down and start over with treated wood. I felt extremely rushed and foolishly let him continue. We had discussed extra wide Trex stairs you could turn around on while carrying a tray of drinks and BBQ. The steps were built just 9 inches wide! Standard is 11. I asked for 13 wide. He then tore down HALF the stairs and built another set 10 1/2 inches wide. This stair now did not match the other half left from the first set and looked completely ridiculous. 2 sets of mismatched stairs one inch apart - see photo. He insisted they were extra wide and sent a photo of his own size 9 sneaker that didn't even fit on the stair. See photo. He installed flimsy $40 screen doors on an $18,000 project. He put a door handle on only one side of one door without the other half of the handle or a latch. How are you supposed to keep the door shut? He said in front of 3 witnesses he did not know how to install door handles or build stairs. This man hires workers but doesn't oversee them. He appears to have no hands-on construction experience. The abundance of laborers do mediocre work but work so fast you can't stop them to make corrections. He was to use TREX weatherproof material to make the stairs. Instead he used cheap knock-off product and said Trex was not available. I went to Home Depot and saw it on the shelf. He built the handrail from wood and just screwed a fake-trex board over the top. Ridiculous looking! See photo. Thank you for reading and if you use this man, write extremely long detailed contracts and watch his hired workers every minute. I asked for a new set of stairs and gave lengthy details, or offered for him to deduct the cost of stairs and let my handyman build them. He chose to deduct and leave, thank goodness. He offered a 2 year warranty. I asked for 5 and he said he would give that if I paid him $3000 every 2 years to restain the little porch. Three thousand dollars!! We agreed I would pay his laborer $20/hr. to watch while I have my handyman do it in a couple of hours. None of that would have been needed if he had used treated lumber. I have written multiple times asking for my 10 year roof warranty and he has not responded to date.
