The overall experience was terrible. When I went to pick it up, I tested the mower and found that the self propelled variable drive speed was way too slow to be useful even at the max setting. So I had to leave it there for them to fix it. The engine idle was stable and seemed fine. So apparently, they had fired up the engine to have it warm before I got there to test it out. On my 2nd visit the cold engine was difficult to start. The forward speed seemed to work correctly when I made a walk test in the parking lot. However, back at my home several days later, it took 48 pulls of the starter grip to get the cold engine started. Yes indeed, I did count the times I pulled the starter handle. Next time I needed to mow the yard after service. I discovered that the variable speed self-propelled mode changed from a normal walking speed to almost a dead stop after about 15 seconds of mowing. This situation meant that I had to move the speed control handle back to the normal walking speed about every 15 seconds. Even more aggravating and exhausting: it took about 98 pulls (I counted them), to get the engine to start but after it was warm it would start easily. Actually, it always started fairly easily when cold before I took it in for service. The only functions that really worked or was done correctly after the "repair" was the nice cut of the lawn because of the new blade and a smooth idle. Otherwise, the overall mower engine performance was essentially in worse shape than before. I took the Honda mower it to another repair shop as the 30 days warranty from Best Lawn Mower Service had expired. I was not going to do business with them as I had by now thought that their service is grossly deficient. The other repair shop charged for a bent choke rod that was not opening and closing the choke correctly. The choke was sticking in the wrong position. The self-propelled speed problem was caused by a missing spacer for the speed control lever. The second repair shop finished or corrected the repairs that Best Lawn Mower Service failed to do. In my opinion, Best Lawn Mower Repair is incompetent and negligent.
Description of Work: My 2004 Honda HRX had a rough, surging idle. Also, I had to have a new handle because the adjustment pins broke off on the original one due to metal fatigue. I also wanted a new cutting blade. According to the repair shop owner, they are an authorized Honda service. They were to replace the handle and do work on the carburetor due to " dirty gas" caused by 10% alcohol in gasoline.
