Benchmark Plumbing

I was seriously displeased in my dealings with this company. When they did the initial work on my house they opened the incorrect hole in the washer connection so when I hooked up my washer and ran a test load all the waste water did not go down the drain but instead into the wall causing quite a flood. This is a minor mistake and one I would be willing to forgive. However, I finally got the name of the plumbers from the builder after I had brought in another plumber to investigate the problem and he detected the mistake on their part. The woman I spoke to from Benchmark was extremely rude and basically chastised me for not calling them right away. Furthermore, she seemed to go out of her way to point out they were not liable because another plumbing company had been called even though the report from the other plumbing company says that the mistake was the original plumbers' (i.e. Benchmark). If this is such a sticking point with them, they should really make a point to let home buyers know they are the people to call if there are any plumbing problems and not depend on others to convey the information. Furthermore, it seems they are unwilling to take responsibility for their mistakes even if it's at the expense of good business practice and common decency. Given this mishap, I asked them to send another plumber out to double check everything and the same woman said they would be there within a certain time frame and someone would call me a hour or so before hand to let me know they were on their way. When I arrived home from work, the plumber was there waiting for me, I had received no call and this was well before the time window they had specified. I notified the management of this company about all that had happened including the report from the other plumber citing the error on the part of Benchmark. So far I have heard nothing else from them and do not expect to. Overall, I would seriously think twice before using this company for any plumbing needs you have. Although the mistake they made was minor, their unwillingness to take ownership of their mistakes, lack of good business practices, and general absence of customer service would stop me from ever hiring them again.
