It was one problem after another. The company, instead of coming to my home to calculate the cost of the move, had me give a list over the phone of what items I had and how many boxes I had. I hadn't packed everything, so I had no idea how many boxes it would take. The actual cost of the move ended up being MORE THAN DOUBLE of what the estimate was. The movers were also late arriving at our apartment and took almost 5 hours to load our things into the truck. I was not given any paperwork in advance, and was asked to make decisions and sign things on the spot, without time to thoroughly read what I was given. Since we did not have a destination address on our pickup date, we were told that our things would have to be placed in storage locally until we secured an address for delivery. We were also told that it would be 7-10 business days until our things would be delivered once we called them with an address. I made the call to one person, but she did not put the address in the computer for two days, and since their trucks only leave my home state once a week (and only if they are full), we missed a truck leaving and had an even longer delay in receiving our things. The moving company finally contacted us and said that they had hired a new trucker to bring our things to our final destination. The driver was NOT told that we lived in an apartment, and when he showed up on the day of delivery, he told us he could not bring his truck into the complex, and that it would have to be offloaded into a smaller truck, costing us even more money. His truck was larger than a standard moving truck; so it wouldn't make it through the complex. He told us he would have to come back the next day to deliver. The next morning, he called us and said that he had mechanical difficulties with his truck, and because he chose to spend the night 30 miles away from our complex, he wanted us to pay the extra cost of gas for renting the smaller truck at his current location; otherwise it would be another day until we got our things. The moving company told us that we were not responsible for that fee, but I couldn't afford to take another day off work, so I went ahead and paid it. The driver hired a few locals to move our things onto the rental truck and into our apartment (he did not come himself), and although they were nice guys, they were not professional movers, and caused damage to some of our things and to the wall in our apartment. I tried to call the moving company back after the move to discuss what had happened and tell them about the damage, but no one would return my calls. Some of our items did not arrive and we could not contact anyone at the moving company to resolve the situation. This cross-country move was a long and expensive ordeal; costing much more money than I was led to believe. They damaged my desk beyond repair, lost an expensive set of tools, and even broke a cast iron dutch oven! Due to the huge increase in price of the move (that we didn't know about until after the truck was almost fully loaded!) I didn't have the extra funds to purchase insurance on the goods. The free insurance I signed for will only give me 60 cents per pound per item of damage, so we would probably get about $5.00 for all of our lost and damaged items.

They delivered it on the 20th which was supposed to be an estimated date of delivering my storage. The ended up delivery when I asked. Multiple things broken. They replaced the glass on my cabinet. fixed wardrobes and paid for a busted up lamp. I would use them again but I would be much more careful about communication. In general the people who were packing and unpacking were careful I had several item that were delicate. Those items all made it successfully.
Description of Work: Moved me and helped store my belongings

I've moved several times. This was my best move ever. I'd recommend these guys to anyone and i'd use them again.
Description of Work: Kevin, my salesman, was professional and courteous. The price ended up to be a little under what was originally bid. This company is very trustworthy. The movers handled my furniture with care. I have over 5,000 sq ft of stuff so it was a big job. The team of guys was very nice. When we arrived at the new home, they put the furniture where I wanted it. They even moved a few things more than once - when I changed my mind! They put all the beds back together. And they were still smiling!
