I first called the top company on Angie's list, My Repairman, but they never showed up. I figured they were too busy and decided to call a company further down the list. I found All Appliance Repair and they sent repairman, Tommy Lynd, who promptly diagnosed the problem: The dual water valve on the ice maker was shot. He advised me that in addition to the valve replacement it would be to my advantage to have a water filter also installed since this might keep the valve from malfunctioning in the future. He added that the filter normally costs $199.99, but I would get a one half price reduction. I agreed. I signed the work order on May 5, 2009. On or about May 14, 2009, Tommy installed the valve and filter. I then noticed that the price of the valve seemed too high. I checked the web only to find out it was, in fact, too high. Most of the prices were in the $30.00+ range, and Sears? price was $23.59. I then called the second company on Angie's list, Pop's Appliance, and the owner, Steve, gave me an estimate of $139.00 for the valve replacement. On or about May 15, 2009, I contacted the owner, Roy, from All Appliance Repair and told him I had been overcharged for the valve. I gave him the prices I got from different companies and the estimate from Pop's Appliance. He said, ?They are a fly-by-night outfit, I will check them out and call you back?. That was the last I heard of him. Since then I have made numerous attempt to talk with him, but these have all been to no avail. I called their number (210) 661-7586 several times and the secretary, Sarah, answers and tells me that Roy is not in. I asked her for his last name and she said she did not know it. I told her I found this hard to believe, and now when I call, they don't even answer the phone. I have made every possible effort to resolve this matter, but now feel that they are dealing in bad faith and will not offer to do something on their part. I would appreciate help on behalf of Angie's list to compel this company to refund me the $214.00 I was overcharged. If any addition information is desired, please contact me. (210) 661-6177. TIA I. Balli
