AMPS Custom Welding

I called on 4 well known fence/gate builders in the area as well as AMPS Custom Welding. All 4 came out to assess the area and propose a solution. One of the bidders without any hesitation told me that the gate I indicated I wanted was not something that he was prepared to build. Of the other 3, I received one bid to build a double gate only. That design is one that I did not want. The other two gave me the same style which was a single swing gate of 12' long and a 3' wide personnel gate. One was build of wood only and the other was to be built of wood over steel. The opening would not allow for a guide wheel so the gate needed to be of sufficient strength to hold true for many years to come bearing the weight of a 12' long gate. All bids that I considered to be competitive were within 10% of each other so I believed them to be totally equal. I chose AMPS because of his design. It is one that I have never seen before yet would do exactly what I needed. He designed a system for a gate to allow the homeowner to EASILY replace any pickets that happen to rot/warp or break at any time in the future. It is a simple yet perfect system. He also designed a hinge system that does not allow the gates to be simply lifted to remove. Truly a remarkable way to create just what I needed. His price was spot on with the rest of the bids yet his design was far superior. He asked for full payment only after he finished the job. He built the gates at his location and brought them out to install within 2 weeks time. This included the Christmas week. He set the hinge poles on one day and came back 3 days later to install the gates. This gave ample time for the concrete to set and hold the hinge posts true. The gates work perfectly. They are aesthetically pleasing and well built. I will definitely use AMPS again for any metal work that I need done in the future. I found him to be honest, intelligent, flexible and able to do quality work at a very competitive rate.
